Konaga Shinji | Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Genin | To say that the pain was lessening with the wait would only be a description that a Konaga could truly understand. His arms still burned with a fury, as did his legs... in particular, his right leg. The pain itself was still shooting through his system in constant pulses, every now and then causing an uncontrollable contraction of his muscles. with each passing second however, his mind was growing less and less hazy, though his breathing was still labored. Looking up, the Jounin could be seen nodding several times with his hand to one ear... "He must be confirming who won the fight with some judges of some sort. I almost forgot we were being watched this whole time.
A sudden wince then came over Shinji's face as his side sent out a violent burst of what felt like lightning through his veins as it left his body with a tingling sensation throughout. Looking down at his side, it was still bleeding quite badly, but Shinji didn't even look like he cared. When his opponent then spoke, it would seem as if he had noticed Shinji's concern, but Shinji quickly hardened himself to the comment. Unwilling to look defeated, even when injured so much worse then the young boy, Shinji forced himself to stand up, his legs defying him at first before finally lifting his injured frame up. Before long, Shinji had taken several steps forward and he stopped clutching his side, as he stood about 5 feet from the Jounin, looking down at his opponent who was still seated.
By now, his entire left side was soaked through with blood, and the tattered parts of his clothing betrayed the gash to any observer. To look at it, you would never think someone would be able to stand, let alone walk with it... the pain would simply be too great. Shinji however barely even registered it among the other violent outpourings his chakra sent against his body. His chakra still raged at full volume, the massive waves of unbridled energy tearing through his system, exhausting his body simply to continue operating with it's mere presence. Shinji showed none of it though, except through a slightly serious look on his face and his somewhat heavy breathing. then, suddenly a strange grin came across Shinji's face as he processed the boy's question...
"What is there to be done?" Shinji said with a bit of dramatic flair as he cocked his head to the side slightly, "After all, you should know what it's like. Even if it was only for a split second, you felt it and you'll never be able to forget. Tell me then, if you were to revisit that moment... would you feel a gash like this? Imagine feeling it at all times... what your body could then withstand. Once it learned to stop fighting back and simply exist. Once it learned to move underneath the crushing weight. Once it learned... to endure. Then you'll understand a little bit of what it means to be Konaga."

David GreysonSunagakure | Ichibi Host | GeninTactics | Speed | Strategy | InsanityDavid's eyes followed Shinji as he moved, honestly rather bored with the front the boy seemed to be putting up. His eyes narrowed as Shinji basically confirmed David's earlier thoughts, the rippling of muscles he had seen during the first test, the way he seemed to freeze up at odd times, they made a bit more sense now. So the boy was in constant pain, and from his words, it had something to do with his heritage. And then the question that was asked sunk in, and David scoffed, turning to look towards the jounin, who still didn't seem to have made up his mind. "In pain already or not, that changes nothing. A cut is a cut, whether you can feel it or not makes it no less so. If you leave a cut open just because you can't feel it, you'll bleed out in minutes." In David's eyes, the indifference Shinji showed to the state of his body was more of an annoyance than impressive as he seemed to think it should be. The body was a container for the person inside, and a broken container was useless. If the body was no good, what would the person do? It wasn't so easy to just find a new body. "You're a strong fighter, but you'd never survive a full battle." The boy muttered, turning to look back at Shinji again. The way the boy had flung techniques around, he had been trowing chakra everywhere. Sure, that could win a quick one on one bout, but if you did that for every opponent without a thought to what was coming next? You'd have nothing left to fight with by the time you got to the third opponent, and that's if you could even finish the second. Konaga Shinji | Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Genin | Shinji could only grimace and scoff at the words the boy spat out to him. Everything he said was condescending, even his simple compliment which was made only to seemingly diminish him afterward. Some of what the boy said was true, but in the end, he simply failed to know what it was to be Konaga... that it wasn't simply not feeling the pain, but also his body's strength and durability after years of internal attack which made them capable of withstanding far more damage then the average person. "Hmmph... how short sighted. And I thought that maybe your brief glimpse might have taught you something useful about me. I guess father was right in that others couldn't ever truly understand."
"Maybe one day we'll really get to see who lasts longer in a 'full battle'... but for now, just consider yourself lucky that though your strike hit, mine was deflected. If you doubt your luck, just take a look at the crater next to you and think it over again. I may have been run through, but I'd still have a body to use afterward." Shinji was running his mouth a bit more then he needed to at this point, but he didn't like the tone of his opponent's comments. He knew nothing about Shinji and knew nothing about how he had already survived so many battles in his travels. Arguing with him any further would just be a waste of breath, so he simply turned to the proctor, hoping an answer as to who had won would come soon. All the while, the pain continued to flood through his veins at every turn, but having now been given a chance to breath, he was beginning to be able to weather it better then he had before. Though his body was still somewhat exhausted from the combat and the wound he had received, he was fairing remarkably well for someone with a large gash in their side.

The Jounin watched the boys exchange words back and forth as he listened in on his earpiece to hear the judges decision. Every now and again he would nod to no one in particular as he listened to the deliberation, before finally dropping his hand to his side. "Alright you two, the final decision was made... it's time to go back to the arena now." Moving through the same hand seals as before, the proctor placed his hands on both of the shoulders of the Genin as they approached him.
Just as it had happened before, the Genin and the Jounin were surrounded in a bright white light only seconds before it dimmed again, the light leaving them just as the roars of the crowd sounded in their ears from all sides. within seconds they then heard a large voice come over the entire stadium as if it were booming from the sky...
