Here are the reported stats so far on the new fish:
Zoeys:
1 gold coin(s) every 1 second(s).
Gold coins are worth 1 gold.
This fish gives 60 gold a minute.
This fish has a max score of 200 gold.
$749 Lives 30 weeks

Mantarays:
3 gold coin(s) every 2 second(s).
Gold coins are worth 1 gold.
This fish gives 90 gold a minute.
This fish has a max score of 150 gold.
$299 Lives 12 weeks

Droops:
2 gold coin(s) every 1 second(s).
Gold coins are worth 1 gold
This fish gives 120 gold a minute.
This fish has a max score of 150 gold.
(Droops are not yet available in Phin Phang.)

Pirate Starfish
(May not glow at all. Folks are still trying to figure that out.)
$499 Lives 18 weeks

To the best of my knowledge none of these fish glow all at once the way dolphins and mini-monsters do. I do not know yet whether they would be considered 'high trigger', 'medium trigger' etc.

Here is my opinion / guess about what Gaia is planning:
The new fish are DECORATIVE (IMO) so I don't think comparing them to dolphins is fair.
Honestly I think Gaia is just trying to ease us into a new plan of action to get us to accept it. Notice how twice now they have said they are going to retire some fish but have not yet done it? I'm sure that is to minmize the baawing by giving users time to absorb it.
This is just a guess but here is what I expect to happen (the first part of which has already come true).

1. Introduce some new fish, nice but not thing too exciting.
2. Retire some older fish. Crap fish / seasonal fish / probably the watermeat which I doubt anyone is buying anyway.
3. Introduce a new booty grab fish that is perhaps better than a watermeat but not as good as a dolphin.
4. Retire the dolphin.

Net effect is as dolphins die off or new tanks are formed people will purchase the new BG fish because it is the best thing going. Gaia will be able to drive cash sales while minimizing the amount of users they alienate compared to nerfing the dolphin or glows.
In other words they would be doing more or less what many of us asked them to do with the fish petition - come up with a way to adjust booty grab that does not involve changing product after the sale.

I do think Zoey is rather high priced for just being a 'pretty'.
She also makes me think of some illicit sexual union between the mermaids and Jar Jar Binks. The thought of any more Jar Jar Binks out there just makes me want to shudder. smile

Go here for a thread with more discussion about it:
(and of course you can discuss it here too.) smile

Yeah, my gut tells me the ultimate goal here is to retire the dolphins.

Also, Lulz on the jar jar binks comment. I agree
Jar Jar binks = NOOOOOOOOOOOO

It has come to pass. Gaia pulled dolphins from Phin Phang today along with a few other fish. They left the meats - haha!

Aquarium Dolphin (Any)
Store Price: Not available in stores
Lowest Buy Now Price: 395,000g

So far the stats on already sold dolphins remain the same. I confess I'm a little surprised about the order of things. I expected dolphins to go but I expected something resembling a BG fish to be released first. Perhaps it is not ready and they figured they needed to hurry up and pull dolphins.

I don't know what they figured, but as I have two tanks full of Dolphins I'm glad I bought them before they did this, and have about twenty to spare. Of course they won't last forever, so I hope they will come up with something better than Aquarium Zoey! She's cute, and I bought one of them to put in a lesser tank just for the oddity of it, but that's the first and last one I'll buy. They could have let her drop coins at least worth two gold. She's expensive both in Phin Phang and on the marketplace. Sheesh!

But thanks for the good information on the fish, David. It's helpful! heart

My dolphins all died the other day and I didn't replace them as I was expecting a better new fish :/

What fish do you think I should go for?

Gwees have been suggested. I replied here:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/Site Feedback/umm-no-more-dolphins-in-the-cash-shop/t.60985177_48/#48
But I'm posting it below for your convenience.

I'm honestly not sure but Gwees do seem like the 'next best' booty grab fish I am currently aware of.
They cost $5, live for 24 weeks, drop at least a comparable amount of gold and as I type this LMP is down to 300k.

Personally I'd wait and see what specs / prices are on the three additional fish coming. The thread linked above says Sardines, Log Fish and (?) red star fish are coming but I don't have any info on them yet. All I can do is see the graphics in Ocean Party.

I'm going to say this again. Dolphin's aren't the best tank on Gaia. Gwee's are an easy replacement for Dolphins.

That is your opinion.
Gwees are pretty good but Gwees can make a much more laggy game due both to their graphics and to all the regular gold dropped. Mostly the latter.
Dolphin = 220 gold per minute in the form of 140 objects
Gwee = 210 gold per minute in the form of 195 objects.
So for a full tank you have an extra 935 objects on screen during a 1 minute game. It's not huge but it can make the difference. Some folks already complain Dolphins are laggy to play.

I agree they are probably the next best thing in the 'non-mini monster' category.
They are also currently a better ROI with current LMP around 390k. Expect that to change. LOL!

I do covet your tank full of airsharks though! smile
I think those are my favorite fish to play, probably because my highest ever BG game was on a tank of air sharks. However the two currently listed on MP are 1.5 mil. That's just a TEENY bit excessive in my opinion.
