Oh those ASSHOLES.
They broke his glasses. His GLASSES ! I still have problem believing people can be so rude. Ronen's so sweet, he wouldn't hurt a fly, and this is what he gets. Bullies covering him in bruises and breaking his things.
I had to help him out - he couldn't even see where he was going, without his glasses ! - and all those morons did was laugh. They found this funny ! And they screamed that Ronen needed a little girl to protect him. It pissed me off so much, it brought my blood to a boil. Not literally, of course, but...
This place is quite an eye opener as to how the real world is. Back home, I rarely left the temples... I was training to become the perfect little priestess, but I know now, today, that I can't be that. Maybe I could have been, sheltered like I was, but... I can't. Not anymore.
And if I catch them doing those things to my brother again... I will show them how scary a little girl can be when she's pissing them off. I am not letting them insult Ronen or me anymore. Never.

A father.
The thought would not leave his mind. He was.... going to be a father, and there was no possible way to avoid it. How was he supposed to know how to be a father ? While he had one... well, he had no idea what a father was supposed to do. The closest he could consider a father was Wren - but he was fairly distant to begin with. He wasn't prepared to this.
And in his mind, he was completely screwed. He couldn't sleep - so he made his way downstairs in the darkness, careful not to make any loud sounds what would wake anyone up, but once he turned his way to the living room, a faint glow made him notice that he was not alone. He couldn't help but peer a bit toward the phoenix sitting on the couch - one part from wondering if she was sleeping, the other wondering how she wasn't setting the couch on fire.
One purple eye opened lazily, glowing a bit in the darkness. "Not sleeping yet ?"
"I didn't wake you, did I ?" Of course, detourned the question. Aylen kept in her sigh.
"No, no. I don't sleep here. I was meditating." One wing unfurled from her body. "Havn't in a long time. Something's on your mind ?"
How odd. He hadn't thought about her meditating. Was it part of her priestly training thing ? He thought about dismissing the question, but he knew she would not give until he relented, and decided to prevent the argument. "Yeah, a bit."
"Come sit." The phoenix answered softly. "That pendant of yours, yes ?"
Sei did so, looking a bit dumbfounded. "How did you know ?"
"I saw Zero at work in the attic and I guessed. What's wrong with it ? It is sick ?" Aylen peered toward it, beak almost in contact with the smooth crystal.
"No, at least... I don't think so. Im just... Not ready for it. I didn't ask to become a father."
"Ah, of course. But who told you you had to be a father ?"
"That creepy lady said I was a father..." He announced.
"Of course, there is a link, and you are the one to mainly raise it, but... That doesn't mean you're have to have him see you as a father if you do not feel comfortable as such. Zero's adopted us both, she is raising us both, but she's not truly a mother to either of us, is she ? Would you feel better seeing him as a little brother instead of a son ?
Sei felt silent for a moment. He hadn't seen things this way, actually... "....Maybe. I know how to be a brother, kinda."
"Then tell him. Children are smarter than most would think - if you tell him you are his brother, he will see you as a brother. Of course, he will depend on you as a child will depend to his parent, especially once he is just born... but with time, why not ? I have... seen many children raised by their sibilings, on the other side. After the parents died. They seemed to be doing well enough." She sighed - a memory she wished to forget... "The type of bond isn't really what's important, as long as there -is- some kind of loving bond in between the both of you. How you both decide to call it doesn't really matter in the end. Have you decided on a name yet ?"
"I... I guess..." It felt very odd, of course, to receive advice so freely. Then, he felt silent, pondering the last question. "No, not yet. I've thought about it a bit, but I've never had to seriously name someone before."
"A name doesn't need any big meaning or anything - I mean, how many children actually end up being like their namesake ?" Aylen did what came closest to a grin with her beak. "I doesn't need to be exotic either or anything. Just something that feels right."
Something that felt right. Sei remained silent, and thought for a moment. Suddenly, an idea came to him, with a small, amused grin crossing his features. "Why not Alden ?"
Aylen rose an eyebrow, but seemed to miss the similarity. "Doesn't sound that bad, but what if it's a girl ?"
"It's a boy, I've already been told." Alden. The more he thought about it, the more it grew on him. "I should go ahead and sleep a bit. You, too." He teased, getting up and walking off, only to stop at the first step of the stair to look back at the faint glow of the phoenix's feathers. "...Thanks. I... I guess I might have needed this."
And so he was up the stairs before the phoenix could answer, Aylen remaining motionless, eyes slowly closing again. It had been hard enough for him to open up, even so sightly - better not insist on it.

It was a quiet little afternoon - Sei had done some chores with the other children and now he had the rest of the day free. It was a toss-up in between the arcade, or staying in his room playing games, or surfing the internet. He decided on the second option - he didn't really feel like going out again. So he did as usual - tossed cushions and sheets in the middle of the room in a pile. This wasn't for his comfort, however, and he knew well, from the feathers and the purple eyes he saw in the crack of his sightly-open door. He paid it no further mind, as always, as he took a specific case from the bookshelf he used to store his games in - this was Aylen's cue to slip in and pretty much nest into the bundle of cushions and sheets. This amused Sei greatly - a phoenix nesting ? - but he kept his amusement hidden. Aylen was hanging out with him alot, ever since Ronen became busier, but the fa'e did not mind much. He guessed she liked seeing him play Kingdom Hearts because of all the Disney stuff in it. She was such a closet Disney fan.
He sat beside her after putting the disk in and starting up the console, but he was starting to feel... tired. This was odd - it was the afternoon, and he had NEVER been tired so early before. He did his best to ignore it - had to be his mind playing tricks on him, so he did his best to focus on his game.
However, it did not take too long for the phoenix to notice. There was... something odd in the air. Like a spell building up energy for a release. And Sei... "Sei ? Are you okay... ?" She said, worried.
"Im... Im not sure..." He admitted, and then... it happened. Suddently, it felt as if all his energy was snapped from him. He couldn't stand, he couldn't move, he couldn't...
The last thing he heard before he felt asleep was Aylen screaming his name.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was only black, at first. Black and nothing else but him. This reminded too much of... that one time, before he grew, and he did NOT like it. What the hell was going on, now ?
"ANASTACIA !" He found himself screaming, without meaning it. The last few months had taken it's toll. "Why am I here ?! Let me out !"
But there was no answer. She wasn't there. There was no sign of her. The child grumbled to himself, but then, he figured something odd.
The void... unlike the one the girl had created for him... This one... was moving, cloud after cloud of darkness. Darkness, no... Shadows navigating in darkness.
Shadows... ?
Then, nothing else existed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the panicked voices of two ladies that slowly stirred out of his sleep. No matter how long it had been, his body complained that it had been all but TOO brief - What WAS going on ? He had never felt like this before ! He never got sick, and he sure never got THIS tired...
"Sei !" Zero was the first to react when mercury-colored eyes opened. "Are you okay ?!?"
"'m tired..." It was all he could say, really. He wanted to at least sit up in his bed but he didn't find the will to do so. Suddenly, however, Aylen's eyes widened, hands going over her beak in shock. "Oh no, I broke him !"
The fa'e was just about to retort that he wasn't broken, but a sudden swirl caught his attention. On his chest laid the crystal.... but there was a very noticeable crack on it's surface, and a soft purple mist waving out. So, this was what happened... Was it why he felt so tired ? He will feed off your own energy... Or something among those lines. He remembered quite clearly. The blonde boy attempted to sit up, but the only thing that kept him from tumbling was the phoenix's quick reflexes, in putting her staff down for him to grip on and slowly use the pull to move into a sitting position, back laying against the wall for support. He hated this already. "No, no, it's fine... That was supposed to happen. He's okay."
"But what about you ? Was THAT supposed to happen ?" Zero said, watching the two children worriedly. Thank good for Aylen's training, she couldn't help but think. That girl had reflexes that some adults could only dream of having. "You should rest."
"It might be an after effect of that soul thing." He couldn't hold on anymore - he let go of the staff and let himself fall back into a laying position. Clearly, even he knew better than to argue.
"Come on, Aylen. Sei needs to rest." Zero said softly, turning the ps2 and the tv off on her way out of the room, followed by the phoenix that kept sending the fa'e worried glances.
If Ronen was too busy, and Sei was sick... Who could she talk to, now ?

Quote: Well... I realized I havn't wrote here for a long time. I havn't really drawn anything lately, either. Truth is, I've been really busy. I've reached this part of my senior year in which I need to decide on a major and college... So, yeah, things have been heretic. I've also been searching for a job in whatever free time I can manage to find in all this mess. Thing is, I've decided to major in art. And, since the nearest college that offers it in is Durem, and the others ever further... I decided that I wanted to move out.
Both mom and Aylen took it relatively well - even if mom, I think, might be getting this "oh no my baby is moving out im old now" train of thought. Aylen also has been very patient with me - I know this takes alot of her to be THAT patient with the messes of papers I leave behind and the fact I have much less time to talk and play with her. She's asked me if she could come with me if I moved out and... im not sure. Im not sure if ill be able to support both of us - and yes, mom offered to help, but... I want to feel like I can do something right on my own, for once in my life.
Aylen and Sei seem to be growing very close, and this put my fears of leaving her behind down a bit. I think it will do both of them alot of good. Sei... barely even opens to anyone. Yes, he talks to us, but... I don't know if it's because he doesn't feel as part of the "family" because he has parents, but... Anyway, if Aylen can manage her way trough his shell, it might do him alot of good to talk a bit. He's looking more preoccuped than a kid his age ever should be.
Anyway, back to the papers with me...

Sosiqui Riven floated uncertainly up to the front door of Zero's house, wondering if he was doing the right thing. After all, it wasn't certain that the boy's crystal had cracked at the same time his had... but even if it hadn't, he could at least warn the other Fa'e about what was coming. The crystal in question was still around his neck, but now there was a mesh bag cupped around the pendant. The spirit inside drifted here and there, but Riven was more comfortable with it being sheltered... even if it was only an illusion. "Alrighty... let's see if your 'brother' is awake yet, shall we?" Riven murmured at the crystal, and knocked. Zero Dream There was the sound of someone running down a set of stairs, and, when the door finally opened... There was no one there ? Or, rather, there was someone there. She was just relatively short. The girl (who looked like a anthro phoenix) looked up at Riven curiously. "Hello ?"Sosiqui Riven blinked at the unfamiliar face; he'd met Zero briefly here and there, but this girl was new to him. "Ah... hello," he said, smiling at her. "My name's Riven... I'm a Fa'e. Is Sei around?" Zero Dream Aylen seemed to become a bit more open once she finally knew who this strange purple person. "Oh, so you're Riven ? Come in." She said, standing aside. "M'sorry... Mom's out right now, and she told me not to let strangers in... im not sure if Sei's awake." She said, a worried look in her purple eyes, until she finally noticed the pendant. "Oh, you have one of those things, too ?! Maybe you can help then." She turned, taking the staff she had left at the bottom of the stairs before motioning the spirit fa'e to follow. Sosiqui "That's what I was hoping to talk about, yeah... what do you mean, help? Did something happen?" Riven frowned as he followed the phoenix child. Zero Dream "It cracked." Aylen announced simply before stopping in front of a door to tap it with her staff a few times - her version of knocking. "Then... Sei just got really tired and he doesn't really look like he's recovering." One last tap, then she gently turned the doorknob so peer inside. "Sei ?"Sei slept very lightly - the knocks where moreso to wake him up than anything else, as proved when he already had his eyes open. "Is Zero back yet, Ayl ? Oh..." He finally noticed the figure behind the phoenix, and tried to stir to sit. "Hey, Riven...""Stay down. Don't tire yourself out, now." The girl said sharply. And oddly enough, he decided to obey. That girl might make one hell of a mother one day. Sosiqui Riven's brow creased with worry, and he immediately drifted over to the side of the bed and floated downward, coiling his tail in his best approximation of kneeling. "Hey... are you okay? She - sorry, I don't know your name," he added, apologetically, to the phoenix. "She said that the crystal had cracked... mine as well. That's why I came." He held up the necklace with the mesh bag over the pendant. The spirit inside seemed to be pressed up against the mesh in what might have been curiosity, though while it certainly could have passed through the mesh it didn't seem to want to. Zero Dream "Aylen." She said, before turning. "Just let me know if either of you need anything." And so she was gone, closing the door behind her. "They say *older* sibilings are overprotective..." The fa'e muttered to himself, still feeling a bit snappish, before he slowly managed to sit and lean his back against the wall. "Yeah, he cracked..." He said, holding up the crystal for the spirit fa'e to see better. The mist, likewise, peered directly to the other spirit's direction, but kept his distance. "Did it kinda... make you sleepy when it cracked ?" Sosiqui "Yeah, it did, but I figured out what was going on pretty quickly. It's all spirit-stuff, so I could see it..." Riven peered curiously at the small purple spirit hovering around Sei's crystal. "It didn't put me in bed, though! I was there already," he added. Zero Dream "Well, to give you an idea... It cracked yesterday. Im still tired." The blonde pondered for a moment. "Maybe it's because im just a kid. Guess I got less soul-energy thing." Oh, damnit, he hated to admit it. He couldn't help the pout that followed. Sosiqui Riven grinned, but nodded his head to acknowledge that he caught the pout. "Maybe. It's nothing to be embarassed of, though. If anything, it's that woman's fault for sending the crystal to you," he added, shaking his head. He still didn't think the Medium should burden young ones with children! "She should have warned you more, sheesh." Zero Dream "If that's what it took just to crack it, im not really looking forward to how my body'll take it once Alden decides to come out." He sighed. Sei clearly wasn't used to be bed-bound - who ever heard of an android being sick ? "Have you thought about a name yet ?" He asked, curiosity slipping in his voice without him really noticing it. "We've decided we're gonna raise Alden as my brother for... obivious reasons." Sosiqui "A name? Um... no, not really," Riven said, abashed. "I guess since it has a second chance and all, that maybe it would come with a name like I did." He squinted dubiously at the spirit, letting his spirit-sight slip a bit so he could see the stronger aura, and the small thread where it ran out to leech off of his own energy. "I've never named anything myself... my daughter Airyn was named after Airi and Glee's mother, Svrellia, so it doesn't count because I took the names from somewhere else." Zero Dream "Don't tell her..." He winked. "But I thought up a name by tweaking Aylen's a bit." He closed his blank eyes, pondering for a moment. "I figure that if he has a name, he'll let us know somehow." Sosiqui Riven smiled. "Okay... I guess I'll have to try a little harder then, since I don't have anyone whose name I could steal that wouldn't guess outright!" Oh, he could just imagine if he named the spirit 'Kuri' or something; Kurrin would have an absolute fit. "I tried to do what I could with the little thing, but nothing happened," Riven admitted, glancing at 'his' spirit once more. "Maybe it's because it's the spirit of a very young child, not mature enough to understand me..." Zero Dream "Maybe. You would know better than me." The boy shrugged. "I... can catch myself talking to him when im half-asleep. Kind of odd." He admitted. Sosiqui "Spirits can do weird things, if you're not used to them," Riven admitted. He hadn't felt what Sei had, but then again he was accustomed to dealing with his own kind, as it were. He looked closer at the purple wisp around Sei's crystal. "All I can tell about yours is that it's sharing your energy, and you knew that... but it should get better soon, right?" Zero Dream "I do hope so... I hate feeling like this." The boy let a sigh escape. So I've just learned, anyway. Makes me feel kind of useless, I can't help around the house or even do anything but sleep. It's been getting better, I guess." Sosiqui "It won't last forever. It can't - they can't eat our energy forever. Eventually they have to form their own and pull themselves into the real world as kids, right?" Riven looked worried, though. If just cracking had laid Sei out this bad, what would happen if the same thing occurred when the spirit changed into a real child? "But you're just tired. It's not that bad," he offered with a helpful smile. Zero Dream "I guess it's just... that im not used to it." He admitted. "I've never been sick... or that tired... or anything like that before. Never thought it would happen either. Guess I was wrong."He paused for a moment. "It's not as bad when you have someone to talk to that doesn't freak out if you try switching positions." Sosiqui "Switching positions?" Riven looked confused. Zero Dream "Sitting down. Turning to the other side. Things like that. Clearly I am "gifted" with overprotective ladies." Sei attempted to hide his yawn, but failed - miserably. It looked like he was getting sleepy again. Sosiqui Riven carefully uncoiled and rose up to his usual cruising altitude. "If you're feeling sleepy again, I should go - sleeping is probably the best way to get your energy back," he said, sympathetically. "Be careful... it might be worse when the spirit turns into a child. Little brother... huh." Zero Dream "I guess so... And im expecting it will at least be something similar. Zero went to see a friend of her's that good with magic and bonds like that - said he might be able to help."Sei just kind of slid back into a laying position again. "Ill be fine... I think."

"Aylen... ?"There was no answer, at first. Of course, Ronen had expected that - the phoenix was sitting, cross-legged, eyes closed, unmoving beside breathing - probably meditating. It used to seriously creep him out, to see her as still as a statue, but right now, he was used to it. And maybe, deep inside of him, he was starting to understand. One hand went to his feather necklace without really thinking... It had always seemed like Aylen knew something that he did not. Ronen's spiked tail moved in lazy circles in thought. But what was it ? Aylen had kept busy in the past few months - helping Sei with taking care of Alden, taking care of Hana when she came over to be babysat, and then of course there was all that meditation, as she tried to find a way to go back home. It had obviously hurt Zero, but she had never tried to stop her. As for Ronen, well, he couldn't quite understand. Why did she try to go back to a collapsing, dying world so badly ? Maybe because, for her, it was home. For him, it was not. They where world apart, barely unable to understand the way the other worked, yet both refused to let go of the other in time of needs. They where almost like siblings, only... not quite. Eventually, the answer came. "Ronen ? How long have you been here ?""Just a few minutes... I didn't want to leave without talking to you, but im probably gonna stay for the rest of the week, class was canceled, they're still struggling with all the snow.""Thank you, it's... been awhile since we could really talk." The firebird said, her eyes revealing the smile she couldn't quite pull off, with her beak. "How it's going ? School, I mean. Is it any better than the other one ?" The underline was clear - if they're hurting you, ill go beat them up like I did with the others. But that wouldn't be needed. "Oh, you have no idea. College is so much better than high school, it doesn't even compare. There's a wider variety of student, especially in the art department. Everyone's pretty nice, probably because they all had problems like I did.""It's not always that way, Ronen." Oh, the older one could be so naive sometimes. "Sometimes, when someone suffer, they get so bitter, and they start hurting others because of it. Because, if they got hurt, why shouldn't others be ?""I would never do that, I... I can't do that." He answered, one finger petting the tiny pixacat on his shoulder, who followed him everywhere - sometimes even in class. "It hurts so badly, to be teased and picked on like I was. I wouldn't be able to do that to anyone else...""That's because you're special." The phoenix answered, hands rising to meet his own. "You've been hurt, but your heart stays pure, like a guiding light." She let out a sigh. "I just wish you could notice how you are, without always thinking everything is your fault. We'll have to work on that.""I think... I think im starting to notice that. Aylen, I think I am starting to understand. Understand myself, understand others, and understand the world. But..." He hesitated. "I don't think I can do it without you.""Of course you can. You used to be afraid of being alone, remember ? And now you live away from home, with a roommate you barely ever see since he works nights and you're gone all day. ...Are you really so worried ?""About me ? No. About you, yes. I am worried something will happen to you, if you find a way to go back there. Zero is worried for you, but she knows better than try to stop you, even if she wishes she could. " He spoke, voice low and soft. "Sei worries about you too, but you know him. He rarely shows anything, even less his worry."The phoenix stayed silent for a moment. They where all worrying... she didn't quite consider her family, but they obviously did. And, so far, any kind of contact with her family, the one on the other side, through meditation, had not worked. Maybe it had been too late for them... maybe she couldn't quite cross the barrier of worlds so easily. Maybe it was time she stopped fighting fate. "Then, maybe you should stop worrying." She said, a gentle, warm hand on her brother's cheek. "And maybe... maybe I can stop giving you reasons to worry. Maybe... I can settle down for real and make myself enjoy this life."After all, she liked this life. She liked Zero, Wren, Sei, Alden, and little Hana. And she liked Ronen. Maybe this wouldn't be so hard. Don't be afraid What your mind consumes You should make a stand Stand up for what you believe And tonight We can truly say Together we're invincible
During the struggle They will pull us down But please, please Lets use this chance To turn things around And tonight We can truly say Together we're invincible
Do it on your own It makes no difference to me What you leave behind What you choose to be And whatever they say Your souls unbreakable
