"Wach auf, mein Sohn," Dominik's mother said softly as she peeked into his room. Dominik himself was sprawled on his bed, comforter thrown on the floor beside the bed. Dominik had trouble with sleeping. First off, he can't fall asleep very easily, nor can he stay asleep for very long. Most of the time he ends up just staying up all night. But not with what was planned for the day.. "Raus aus dem Bett! Das Frühstück wird in Kürze erfolgen." Mrs. Eichel said as she closed the door to finnish breakfast. Dominik growled as he rubbed his eyes and sat up. He pulled himself out of his queen sized bed and stalked into his personal bathroom. That's what you got when you were the oldest of six; you always got extra perks. Dominik entered the bathroom and smiled as soon as his cold feet touched the small rug that was laying on the ground in front of the sink. He wiggled his toes in the soft fibers as he stared at his reflection.

He had taken a shower the night before, but his hair wasn't looking to pleasing. Sighing, Dominik turned on the water faucet and splashed his face and hair with warm water. He towel dried his head and ran a brush through his hair. It would end up messy in the end anyways, but at least he could say he tried. Feeling satisfied, Dominik made his way back into his bedroom and to his closet. He frowned as he remembered all of his clothes were packed but the outfit he would be traveling in. He scowled as he pulled on his clothes, no longer liking what he had picked before. In the morning, Dominik was irritable and often changed his mind about what to wear. He pulled on his loose-fitting jeans and black v-necked tee. He yanked on some socks and his sneakers. Dominik grabbed his soft leather jacket and said goodbye to his old life.

The truth was, Dominik really wasn't all that upset about his parents' decision. He wouldn't have picked it himself, but he respected their choice. He wouldn't fight them about it, unless the girl he was matched with ended up being absolutely horrid.. These thoughts ran through Dominik's head as he sprinted down the stairs to the Eichel's kitchen. "Guten morgen, Mama," Dominik said as he sat down. Mrs. Eichel smiled as she laid his plate in front of him. The meal was a very American meal: pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Normally Dominik and his family had bread and fruit, but Dominik suspected his mother wanted to let him get used to eating different types of food. Dominik ate light, afraid of getting sick from the greasy sausage. He kissed his mother's cheek before heading up to his younger siblings' room. Dominik said good-bye to two of his siblings the night before, but his youngest brother was still home. He smiled as he picked up the small six year old and twirled him through the air. "Ich werde dich vermissen..." he murmured to his youngest sibling. Dominik's eyes teared up as he set his brother back down and waved good-bye. He made eye contact with his mother on the way out, waving as he did so. Domink grabbed his suitcases from beside the door and waited for his ride out on the steps.

Dominik only had to wait a few minutes before the chauffer came by. He wordlessly hauled his luggage to the trunk and slid into the back seat. Domink let his thoughts drift as they drove the short trip to the airport. "Ich werde ihr Gepäck kümmern, Sir nehmen," the driver said as he opened the door. Dominik nodded and pulled his airline ticket out of his pocket to check what flight he was on. Soon, he was sitting on the plane, uncertain of what the future had in store. After leaving the plane, Domink was washed up in a crowd of people. He spotted a man in a suit holding a sign with his name on it. Dominik walked over. "Are you hungry, Mr. Eichel?" the man asked politely. "I'm fine, thanks," Dominik replied with a heavy German accent. Dominik could understand English very well, but he wasn't as good as speaking it. The words were sloppy on his lips, but he usually got the point across. Dominik studied English for three years in school, so he knew the language somewhat. The man smiled and indicated for Dominik to follow him.

Dominik followed and slid into yet another car. He was getting sick of the travelling, and was ready to just relax for a while.. After around an hour, the car was pulling up to a large mansion. Dominik smiled crookedly as he got out of the car. The house was absolutely beautiful! Still smiling, Dominik pulled his luggage up the steps and into the house. It smelled of freshly baked goods, reminding him of his home. Dominik heard voices, but a sudden wave of nerves came over him, and Dominik suddenly wasn't sure he wanted to socialize at the moment. So, instead of following the voices, he climbed up the stairs in search of his room. With a bag in each hand, Dominik checked every room until there was an empty one at the end of the hallway. It seemed as though he was one of the last to arrive... Dominik threw his luggage onto the striped bed and sat down in the window seat. It overlooked the backyard, and Dominik spotted a few people by the pool. Soon some of them went into the house, making Dominik change his mind about socializing.

He stepped into the small bathroom that was connected to his bedroom and checked his reflection quickly. Feeling satisfied by what he saw, Dominik made his way down the hallway and down the steps. He took a right and saw that there was already a girl standing in the doorway of the kitchen, and a lot of people inside the room. Dominik crossed his eyes and spun to go out to the pool. Yes, he wanted to talk to people, but he was in no mood to meet twenty people at the same time. Maybe I should find Her... He thought idly. But, the thoughts passed as he opened the doors. Dominik was greeted by the smell of chlorine and the feel of sunlight on his pale skin. He smiled his crooked grin once again, and saw a guy and girl stading outside in conversation. Judging by their body language, it wasn't a deep conversation, so Dominik cautiously walked over and said, "Hello. I am Dominik Eichel, from Germany." He smiled crookedly at them. "I hope I am not interrupting anything," he added politely. He stood near the door in case they sent him away, his hands clasped behind his back.

"Sam! Sam get ready! The car is gonna be here soon to pick you up!" the voice of her mother called from the house.

Samantha stood there in her wetsuit, holding her surfboard as she pushed back some of her wet hair. Samantha, also known as Sam to her family and friends, was and always will be a California girl. No marriage arranged by her mother and step-father was gonna change who she is, and Sam didn't careif they liked it or not. Since she was eight she got into surfing and fell in love with the beach, all thanks to her father who was the one that got her into it. Sadly though it was the thing that he loved most that got him killed; the sea pulling him under and drowning him in it's watery abyss.

Samantha hoped that whoever she was supposed to marry at least had some things in common with her, like maybe having a love of the sea or surfing. She'd hate it if the guy and her had nothing in common, then that would just be awkward. She let out a long sigh before she trailed back to her beach house, grabbing a towel off of the deck and setting her surfboard down. She dried herself off as much as she could before opening the sliding door and heading inside. She looked to see her mother was sitting on the couch cuddling with Sam's step-father James. Sam's mother married him about two years ago, and even still she wasn't fond of him mainly because he didn't approve of her tomboy attitude.

Without a word she headed up into the bathroom, removing her wetsuit to reveal her bathing suit which was a black bikini top and pair of black and white swimsuit shorts. After removing those she stepped into the shower and started washing the smell of salt water out of her hair and off her body. It took her seven minutes to shower and get herself cleaned up before she shut the water off, grabbed a towel to wrap around herself, before she started doing her hair. She blow dried it a little before putting a little mousse in it to help make it wavy a little. Once she got her hair done she opened the door and quickly retreated to her bedroom.

Her bedroom was a simple loft bedroom. She had a small staircase leading up to her bed and a small platform where her desk was. It sucked that she couldn't bring her laptop or her cell, then again Sam hardly used them so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. She only had her cell because her mom wanted to keep tabs on her, and she had her laptop for entertainment.

She got dressed into a brown tank top and camouflage capris, putting on some wristbands before she grabbed her suitcases and started packing. She hated the idea that she would be getting married in three months to a stranger, especially when she is only eighteen. Eighteen year olds were not meant to worry about marriage at this time, they were meant to worry about college and jobs now.

Still, Sam couldn't argue and she packed two suitcases full of clothes and a gym bag full of other things like books, her sketchbook, and her art supplies. Besides surfing and swimming, Sam loved to draw. It was a total coincidence that the minute she finished packing, she heard the annoying sound of the car parked in front of her house beeping its annoying horn to remind her to hurry up. She sighed and grabbed her bags before heading downstairs where her mother and James were standing there. Her mother hugged her and said goodbye while James just looked at her before opening the door - he couldn't wait to just throw her out.

Sam just shook her head and headed to the car, where the driver was standing there and offered to take her bags. Sam just shrugged her shoulders and handed the driver her bags before hopping into the back. This was going to be a long, long day for sure.

She ended up falling asleep on the ride there to her new home, and when she awoke the driver had informed her that they were here. Sam rubbed her hazel eyes before she opened the door, not even waiting for the driver to open the door for her. The driver though had kindly handed Sam her bags and said his goodbye before driving off, leaving Sam standing there alone in front of the huge mansion.

She turned and looked, kind of in awe at the size of the mansion. It was bigger than her beach house and she took a deep breath before heading inside. Okay, now she just had to find her room. She wandered the house, peeking inside the rooms to see that the rooms were taken until she found one that looked like it wasn't taken by someone. It was blue and white, kinda of like Sam's old room. It definitely suited Sam, and she headed over to the bed where she threw her bags down on it. Slowly she unpacked, organizing clothes in the white closet by placing them on hangers and on shelves. Once she was done unpacking she figured she could wander around a little.

Her flip flops made a soft noise against the floor as she wandered the house. The first room she came across was the library. Holy crap this would be Sam's favorite place to be! So many books and the library even had a T.V. in the shelf! Okay, moving along. She wandered into the living room and the dining room where where nicely decorated, eventually she found her way into the kitchen. Now this was a nice kitchen, looked like the kind of kitchen you see on those fancy cooking channels.

Oh boy, is that what she sees outside? Opening the double French doors, Samantha's eyes lit up when she saw the pool - well pools. One was larger than the other, and looked a lot deeper too. Awe damn! Screw the library! This was Sam's favorite place now.

She looked to see some people out and about and she smiled a friendly smile, tucking her hands into her capris pockets as she approached them. "Hey there! I'm Sam, nice to meet you all." Samantha said. She figured she might as well be friendly and make some friends since she would be stuck here for the next three months.

" One Small Step Away From Being Normal...
Yet So Far Gone From What She Wanted.
"

Olivia watched as Cassidy pulled herself to her feet, explaining that, yes she was fine. A few scrapes and bruises never hurt anyone. But of course, no one ever wanted to be the first person to trip and fall. If it had been Olivia who had fallen, well she most likely would have done the same thing, so some kudos were thrown Cass's way. The girl didn't stay much longer though. A few seconds more and she decided to head in the same way Corrine had gone, leaving Geoffrey and Liv to themselves.

Geoffrey hadn't really said too much since she had shown up, 'Maybe he's one of the quiet ones,' she thought. It was quite possible, but he didn't seem like the type to listen to everyone else and have his own conversation in his head. And besides, he was talking to Cassidy before she left. 'What if it's me?' Liv asked herself mentally. She really hoped it wasn't just her or the energy she put off, but there wasn't anything she could do about it if it was. Unless of course, he was her fiance, then it would have been a different story. Geoffrey was not the name she remembered hearing about back home when her parents had first started discussing the private arrangement with her though, so she knew he wasn't the boy she would be spending most of her time with. 'It was something with a 'D'... she thought, 'D...'.

While Liv continued to feel awkward simply standing next to Geoffrey, not making a sound, the screen door to the pool area opened up and closed behind them. The Italian girl turned around, her arms still loose by her side, to find a young man entering. He stayed by the glass, almost hesitating to come closer. But he gave an introduction so he couldn't have been too nervous. Dominik he said his name was. Dominik. 'Ah, that's it! Dominik!' Olivia screamed inside. Of course it was something like that. Another girl slid through the door right behind Dominik before Liv could respond. Everyone was just showing up like crazy! "Hey guys! I'm Olivia. Nice to meet you as well. You should really come over here and check the water out. I haven't gone in yet, but I was just about to. Isn't this weather incredible?" she said excitedly. So many people in so little time. The social bug was beginning to feel the kick start to her vacation. Almost felt like jumping up and down, but she resisted. She didn't want to come off too peppy.

The crooked smile on his face got wider as he found out he hadn't been intruding. Dominik was usually very polite, and he took pride in it. His parents had sent him to boarding school high up in the mountains for half of his schooling, and that was where he learned about manners and politeness, as well as English and regular school subjects. A pale girl entered the area just behind Dominik, startling him some. He laughed and said, "It is very nice to meet you." Turning to the other girl, he said, "And you, too! I shall try the water, thanks." He walked over to them and took off his shoes. He rolled up his pants and sat down by the pool and let his legs dangle in the water. "Ahh..." he said as he closed his eyes.

Remembering what the girl had said her name was made Dominik's eyes re-open. She had said her name was Olivia, and for some reason the name stuck out to him. Olivia... Olivia.. "Oh!" he said out loud, as he turned to the girl. She was to be his wife by the time summer was over. "Uh.. The water is nice. You should join me," he said, patting the spot next to him. He was surprised he found his fiance so quickly. He wondered if she knew they were engaged. He couldn't ask her about it, for it would be rude. So, he decided to keep the conversation light. "In Germany, my house is much smaller than this. My brothers and sisters would be so happy to be here! They love swimming, you see. They would bother me to go to beach." His eyes were almost distant as he talked about his siblings. He hadn't been gone a whole day, and he was already homesick. "Ich vermisse sie..." he said, looking into the blue water.

But, it wasn't the time to dwell on sad thoughts. "What about you? All of you! Any siblings?" he asked, turning to speak to Sam and the other male as well. He had almost forgotten that he and Olivia weren't alone. Once again, his thoughts turned to if she knew. His eyes drifted to her again, watching her face. He was trying to read her, see if she knew they were fiances. It was possible that she didn't, and he would have to tell her. Dominik almost shuddered thinking about it. Telling her they were engaged didn't rank high up on his list of things he wanted to do.

XXXXXXXXXodding to the two newcomers, he grinned Olivia. Apologizing for spacing out, he agreed about Corrine, who seemed to have up and left, leaving him fiance-less, if only for a few moments. Cassidy left shortly after, meaning he was really making a bad impression on the few people he knew. "Yeah, I'm Geoffrey. Sorry about spacing out again. I seem to have a habit of doing that around new people. Welcome to wherever we are Dom, you're not interrupting a thing!" Assuring the German he was actually saving him from another awkward moment with a pretty girl, he waved to Sam. She had a tomboyish look to her which somewhat made him reconsider. Short brown hair framed her face and blue eyes were popping due to the contrast of her pale skin.

XXXXXXXDominik and Olivia seemed to have hit it off fairly well, which was nice, considering they had to live together for awhile, and the fact that they were both from a long distance away. The topic of family came up, making Geoffrey cringe lightly. It wasn't that he was homesick, far from it actually, but he didn't get along with his family. Should he lie and say he was an only child? Not that it really mattered to him, but no one here would learn about his family issues unless they pried 24/7, and it wasn't like they would meet them. But, values came over preferences, meaning he wouldn't lie and spill the truth. Even though he'd have preferred to space out there and never have to answer.

XXXXXX"I'm the middle child of five. Two brothers and two sisters. Each gender has one older and one younger than me." Biting his tongue to refrain from saying anything more on the subject. If one wanted to know, it would take a lot of convincing and trusting before letting them into his world. So, now that both men and women had their fiances nearby, it was a question on how to break the ice gently. "I take it you're close with your family? They older or younger?" Family was a touchy subject only when directed at him. He could avoid said spotlight by making conversations with everyone else and dodging questions by giving non-specific answers. But, he did have to admit, he was envious of families other people had, so listening to their stories always seemed fun.

XXXXXSam seemed pleasant enough, despite her being quiet like he had been just moments ago, and it seemed everyone but him was ready to go into the water. His trunks were upstairs, and he didn't feel like moving from his chair, or rolling up his jeans. Maybe later he'd go for a swim...

Okay, so there were some nice people around so far. Her eyes managed to glance over to a young man, fairly handsome as he stood there and waved at her for a minute. She smiled and waved back. She wandered over to the small group of people with a cool smile on her face. "Seems like everyone is enjoying a swim. I just got done swimming a few hours ago so I'm gonna take a break for now." She said before looking over at the guy who waved at her. Geoffrey right? She thought that was what she heard him say to the other guy.

When the topic of family came up Sam stood there and went quiet. She didn't want to tell everyone her business, how her father died from drowning and how her mother married a man who hates Sam as his step-daughter and her mother doesn't even consider her daughter's feelings. Great way to make a first impression. She looked at Geoffrey when he explained that he was a middle child, having two brother and two sisters. Lucky, Sam always wanted a brother or sister, be they older or younger, at least there would be someone for Sam to talk to when her step-father made her angry or upset.

"That's awesome! Mind giving one to me?" Sam joked before her laughter faded. "I'm an only child. So if anyone has a sibling they don't want I'll take them!" She joked again before she calmed down. "Seems like all of you are kinda close to your families." She said, trying hard to keep the smile on her face. She had to admitt to the fact she was a little jealous of the others who were close to their family. Sam had always wished for that, but was never lucky after her father died.

"So you live in Germany? That's awesome! I'm from California! Yeah I know there is no tan to prove it." Samanatha said with a light chuckle. She was always like that though, no matter how long she was out in the sun she never tanned. Her skin was always pale.

She stood there before she felt her stomach rumble a little and growl at her. She placed a hand over her stomach before she rubbed the back of her head with her other free hand. "Heh, sorry about that. I skipped out on breakfast and now my stomach is mad at me. Anyone want something from the kitchen? I could go for a sandwich." She said with a friendly smile. Yeah, Sam was always a happy person when around others, she liked to be the friendly type. It was only if people did something bad to her or made her angry that she wouldn't always be friendly and smiles. No, Sam could fight and she has a mouth to speak her mind, she just chooses not to because she doesn't want people to think she isn't the kind of girl one could be friends with.

She glanced back at Geoffrey and smiled before heading back inside, wandering into the kitchen where she opened the door to the fridge and started looking inside to see what there was to make. There was a lot of stuff, but she was debating on what she wanted. She then decided to have a turkey sandwich with some mayo, lettuce, and swiss cheese. She would have put bacon on it to add that little crunch, but she was being a little lazy and didn't feel like cooking the bacon. Maybe tomorrow she would do that. She grabbed a plate and cut the sandwich in half before going back to the fridge to grab a bottle of water.

She stood there and looked at the fridge before she opened the freezer. She was standing there for that second because she was pondering if the fridge had any ice cream in it or some kind of frozen treat. Upon opening she saw there was some ice cream, and a cheesecake, as well as some frozen bags of vegetables and other frozen foods. Oh Sam loved cheesecake so she would be stealing a slice tonight for dessert, especially when she saw some strawberries in the fridge that would go well with cheesecake. Actually she was craving a chocolate shake, and luckily there was chocolate ice cream in the freezer. Bingo! With a little help from the blender later she was going to make her own shake.

Ugh, she had to get her mind off food. She always laughed on how she got her love of food from her father, since her mother barely eats anything while Sam could eat just about any time when she was in the mood to eat. She grabbed her dish and bottled water before heading into the library. She set the plate and water down before looking at the shelves of books, pulling one off to read the cover. She opened it up to read the introduction before she placed the book back and pulling another one off the shelf. She did the same thing, but this time the book looked interesting enough to read. She walked back over to the couch, sitting on it with her feet up before she started reading the book. She would take a bite from her sandwich or a sip of her water between reading.

She figured she would waste some time until tonight when she would go for a swim. Night swimming was always more fun and enjoyable than daytime swimming. Mainly because it is always so quiet and it's fun to just float there and look at the tiny stars instead of a hot sun.
