So... who from this lovely guild will be attending this year's AkiCon? I'm certainly looking forward to it, especially now that the con has gotten itself a seriously awesome new location - the Hilton hotel in Bellevue! Besides how much easier it is for some folks to travel there, the hotel itself is awesome in so many ways (you should see how epic the room is that they're going to use for the dealer's hall). I'm also hoping to debut some fantastic new cosplays (getting help on them from friends...yay), and if luck is on my side, I might get to room with some cosplay-addicted buds from Utah... heart

If I ever get any spending money I'll go. I went for one day last year and got autographs, watched some anime with a friend who'd never been to a con before. I think she was pleasantly surprised.

Bellevue is pretty far from me, living in way south in Washington, but I'm still going to take a road trip up there. I think I'm gonna bring my friend katelynn too! I'll be dressed as one of the girls from Lucky Star (haven't picked which one yet). Find me! hehe

I can tentatively say I'll be there with some friends (: The line up is looking something like; Shannon-Umineko no Naku Koro Ni M.M.(Probably TYL!Version)-Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Rise-Persona 4

Ok first off, wasn't the whole point of Aki to be a LOCAL con for Snohomish county?
Second... Please do not show bootleg anime! And advertise to your staff that your going to!
The at the door prices are less than paying separately all three days...
And lastly. As a member of last years staff- Depending on how cool the weapon looks is not classification to whether it should be allowed, LET ALONE PEACE BONDED! WTF? FAIL!!!!
I REFUSE to support this con. I know for a fact that Sakura Con does not support it either and I'm a little sad to see it posted in here. I'm sorry to those looking forward to going but the reasons for this con even existing are horrible and it should not be run as a dictatorship.
I for one as well as my large group of burned staffers from last year will not take part as long as Aki-con is being run under these conditions.
Have fun anyone who's going... Just don't waste your time as staff.

I don't appreciate my topic having a harsh comment like that in it... *sigh*
For one thing, the con HAD to move because it got big... just like how SakuraCon did in 2006. Jeez. -_-;
Didn't know about the bootleg anime thing (and don't really care, because idiots are bound to try to get away with such things), but from what I gleaned from that comment, you had a bad time being staff. IT HAPPENS. And this almost seems like you're deliberately trying to make people less interested in going to the convention... I find it rather offensive. Especially since a large amount of the main staff at the con are friends of mine, and I am quite happy with the way things are run (in fact, I happen to love AkiCon almost more than SakuraCon; it's way more comfortable and truly feels like "a con made by the fans for the fans", and it's loads easier for people to get involved with panels, etc.) Also, there is nothing wrong with the at-the-door prices being less. I consider that a blessing compared to how massively expensive SakuraCon is. I admit that there are a lot of things that need improving (like Peacebonding not being organized/strict enough), but this is a fairly new con after all... it takes quite a while to get better and less full of fail.
So I do hope no more con drama gets put in here. If you want to discuss it further, start another topic (and try keeping it intelligent and non-offensive, so other people could comfortably give a say in what they hope to have improved at the con...).

I just want to clarify one thing. It was the dictator of Aki that was talking about showing the bootleg stuff. I didn't make it to con cause of how badly Nicole burned all relations with her audio staff. I really don't care for it being posted in here. However this will be my last post in your topic and I will refrain from looking at it again. I'm sorry but between facts and my opinion this is how I feel.
I am glad you have found enjoyment in it. Nicole has REPEATEDLY burned her bridges with myself and several other members of Sakura con. These 2 cons do not get along. That is why I was sad to see it in here. That's all.
