I have a paragon vanguard who has Reave by using advanced training. I am currently stuck on the first mission for the Illusive Man where you first fight the collectors. I just talked to the jerk mechanic who doesn't want to help you, and gotten to an area where they first start sending Scions at me. I've beaten the game on easy, and gotten every other achievement for ME2. I'm trying to beat this, but I'm about to give up, because nothing I do harms the countless troops they have, and I can't kill each Harbringer and the Scion before they reach me and destroy me and my team (Miranda and Grunt).

Suggestions?

More bullets?*shrugs*

I don't know. Hell, I find it hard enough on easy (sad, I know). But in response to the poll question, I managed to beat ME1 on Insanity, but for some reason the achievement didn't register. I did get the gamerpic though. (it's either the N7 logo or Saren as Sovereign is taking over his dead & decrepit body.)

I beat ME 1 on Insane, but it did not seem as hard as Insane on ME 2, I tried to do it with my maxed out solider class and was getting my butt handed to me on a silver platter.

So I decided to play again this time as a Sentinel, more power options, I'm in the process of playing though it on easy to max level it, and then I will take a crack at Insane again.

@ Soren Alenko - The N7 gamerpic is the reward for beating the game on Insane, the Saren gamerpic is for beating the game on Hardcore?.

I only play it on normal mode. Next time I start another record I might try something harder.

Upping the difficulty can make things more interesting, I'm pretty sure a larger amount of enemies spawns on the tougher modes. I can manage playing on hard mode, and I recently upped the difficulty on my soldier but it's been a while since I played. I'm kinda impatient, just wanna charge through and kill everything and be a super Shepard solder, that can be rather difficult the higher the difficulty.

I beat Mass Effect on insanity. It is way more difficult in ME2 though, which I see has already been established smile . I usually play on hardcore, I did try twice to play through on insanity and the first time I got so frustrated I lowered it to veteran on horizon, same place you're at. The second time I played with my renegade soldier and made it to the collector ship.
My brother's beaten it with his infiltrator. Once he got every upgrade the gameplay was wayy less insane. ^_^

I'm saving my insanity playthrough for after ME3 comes out. Then I'll blow through 1, 2, then 3 on insanity. Crazy!

I'm going through ME2 on Hardcore right now and let me say that it isn't easy, nor is it supposed to be. How you overcome these settings is changing strategies. For example, on the same mission you are on now, I HAD to change from ducking and shooting, to actual duck, shoot, then run. The Pretorians are a severe pain in the a**, and I can promise you that if you don't run, you are screwed.

My advice, keep as much distance between you and your enemy as possible, and be sure to pick up every ammo upgrade you can find. Running out of ammo is not the best position to end up in. Also, where you place your other team mates helps too. Spread yourselves out so they don't have to focus on one area and surround you. Just keep working at it and you should be able to take on Harby and his flunky's. Oh...and when the pretorian comes....RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! Nuff said.

I only beat ME2 on insanity. Most of the game actually isn't that hard....it's just the few parts that are hard are insanely hard. I must have died 80 times at the collector's base sweatdrop

I can't really give you any tips....you just need to bring the proper party members with you for each mission. Like the last boss....being Miranda and Thane (having warp is really helpful there).

I used the cain if needed on the troops(Saved last shot) and it was easy since I just used jack and grunt. Jack uses her shockwave completely on all troops and as for Grunt he uses special ammo then mostly they rip through their lines as I heal and Reave them. Maybe you should use warp ammo or warp. does so much damage. When that giant bug thing comes in and you already built the cain just blow it up. On my first time (XD) Just did the same except for the cain. If it doesn't work then go with other advice because I don't have any other.
