rikuHEART Wishbone Redemption rikuHEART Wishbone Redemption rikuHEART Smithium The human race is still developing. There are a lot of people that just haven't learned how to be selfless. I mean, the concept of caring for the environment is a mindset that's only been around for a hundred years give or take (for the white man, at least.) It's taken millions of years to get as we are now. All it takes some time for the human conciousness to evolve. Some have adapted to learn and care about our environment because they're able to see what changes WILL happen. Others will just have to see major changes in their daily lives. We're animals afterall and survival is still the overall theme of our motivation. All it takes is time for people to stop worrying so much about what they're getting and start caring about where WE'RE going. True, there are those who actually care about the environment (evidence: this guild xd ), and there are also a GREAT number of people who would if they knew what was going on. But ultimately, no one has the same opinions on things. In an intellectually advanced species like ours, there will always be those people who simply just don't care. Which is why we're too smart for our own good. gonk It is the same in human rights, animal protection, and the environment. Too many people are ignorant. Too many are oblivious. Bring on proper education. wink If they know about the issues, it's a pretty good chance that a lot of people will care. Yes! Go environmental awareness! I'm in charge of that in my school environmental club! 3nodding As of right now, we don't even have one. Which is odd, considering this is a fairly rural community... The school is right next to a cornfield, for crying out loud... You really are an inspiration. May fate be with you. heart Thanks! And perhaps you could start the environmental club in your school. wink I agree with wishbone. Go riku! I also agree with riku. Best of luck if you decide to start a club at your school wishbone wink

Yeah - I'd suggest talking to your principal/director about it and then asking a teacher to help supervise everyone. Do you have any environmentally concerned teachers? All of our science teachers are. ^_^

That's a good idea, Riku. And while we do that, we can try to tell other people outside of school about it and write to congress and the senate and such.

Here's some food for thought. This global warming will lead us into an ice age and there is nothing we can do about it. Nothing! There have been several ice ages over the years that we have or haven't been on this earth. The last ice age was during the middle ages and lasted 300 years. Did we have factories or oil refiners then. Nope, it was just nature running its course. No, you may think me harsh, but this is actually Mother Nature's way of getting rid of some problem. She did this to the dinosaurs who were using up her resources, and now us. I do say that we contribute to global warming, but we can't stop with the way we are advancing. The Kyoto project was supposed to help, but no one ever met the expectations and not everyone is paying the fines. Basiacally the world with freeze over at the norther hemisphere causing the major producers of the carbon that is hurting the Earth i.e. Europe and North America. Now, we can continue to save the Earth the way we have been, which is a good idea, but you must know that even if we find a new source that doesn't produce carbon into the air, which is highly unlikely, if the entire Yosemity Volcanoe (the entire park is a huge volcanoe) erupts *boom* instant ice age. It's not the vacum either, but enforced over a decade or soo the northern hemisphere will freeze over. Now, the people closest to Yosemite are gone and the rest in California need to high-tail it down to the equator as fast as possible.
This new change is actually good for some areas. Take Africa for example. They now have really, I mean really fertile soil that hasn't been used because until reasantly the Earth was functioning toward North America as a major providor. So we need to help organize Africa, give them the techno, and then they will be the lead countries in the world where we get all our food from.
If you question where I got my knowledge, we recently learned all this in my Biology class. So, basically, humans are just along for the ride. So lets a.) take care of our earth, b.) take care of our neighbors, and c.) prepare ourselves for the next ice age.

I agree with you, but the problem that Nature is trying to fix is us, and we can prolong this from happening and maybe even avoid it altogether if we fix ourselves from doing so much harm to Nature.

Yes, I agree with Devin. In the very slightly possible case that we are able to correct ourselves, nature will not need to correct us (though I do hope that we get wiped out pretty soon anyways...just to play safe....heh. Just hope that none of the other organisms get hurt in the process. heart )

The past two years I noticed something was up. The winter's were colder than normal and the summers have been hotter than usual, also more fires. Just the past two years though. But yeah I have noticed it.
I hope we can do something about it before it continues.

But yeah I have noticed it. I hope we can do something about it before it continues. We can. We can reduce our carbon emmisions and others' by going in automobiles less often (unless they're electric, use solar energy, or use biofuel biggrin ) or using public transportation more often, educating others, using re-usable (wow that sounded weird) energy, buying clothes made of cotton (instead of man-made materials made at CO2-producing factories)...There are many ways we can help! We have a whole sticky about it! heart
Oh and I like your sig. mrgreen

It doesnt say who came up with the idea, there are a few pictures with the same girl, dreamcatcher and wolves, this is just one of them.
