I'm just reading "How not to write a novel" by David Armstrong. It's a really good book to basically tell you the reality of being a new or midlist author.
The pains and pleasures but ultimately how difficult it is, and how hard you have to work.
I prefer to read books that don't sugar coat anything. They tell you the worst and if things turn out better then I'll be pleasantly surprised biggrin

That is very creepy.
I just bought that book almost seven hours ago on a whim, and right now it's sitting right next to me on my desk. o.o
I read it up to the Agents chapter and so far, it seems pretty helpful.

lol that's so creepy :O it is very helpful. gives you a very real view of the industry, almost reverse psychology. him: "Don't do it" me: "Do you think I can't?" him:"Yes, don't do it." me: "pfft. I'll show you!"

I've seen that book around, but I never went through with picking it up. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for it from now on. biggrin

I really enjoyed it. He sounds like a totally sarcastic SOB but I quite enjoyed that approach biggrin
