By Jimmy Palmiotti, Josh Blaylock
(Paperback)
Publisher: Devil's Due Publishing
Pub. Date: December 23, 2009

------------------------------------------------------------

So where is it? In early December of 2009 I placed an order out for this book at my local Barnes & Noble book store. They were doing preorders at the time and the release date for them at the time was December 23, 2009. Just the idea of reading about "D" in America has me greatly fascinated and even if this isn't written by Mr. Kikuchi I really wanted to get my hands on one copy before it became a rare book to own. Even I suspected that there might be some legal issues or even an infringement lawsuit against Jimmy Palmiotti, Josh Blaylock for even using D in their fictional writings. So I wanted a copy even more so... blaugh

But as December 23rd came around Barnes & Noble didn't call me. And so I called them and they told me that the book's release was postponed or pushed back to a later date. But they couldn't tell me when it would be coming out. I called back in January and now they have no info on the book. And Borders has never even heard of it. I went onto Amazon.com to see if they knew if it was available anywhere even outside of the United States and Amazon has it listed as "currently unavailable".

Does this mean that Hideyuki Kikuchi is delaying the release of this book because he's suing Jimmy and Josh for copyright infringements or even Plagiarism? ninja

I've heard about that book too. Wikipedia states that it was supposed to be a comic that was cancelled. But we all know that wiki isn't the most reliable source for information.
Another site states that it was because of a disagreement in publishing. The author said he thought he would be doing his own version and the publishers said they wanted it their way so he backed out. Here is the link I found Betty, I hope it helps.

Unfortunately it seems we will never see Vampire Hunter D: American Wasteland.

It would have been nice to see a North American adaptation of this series. I really do like the authentic American comic book drawings of characters and memorable heroes and villains. It really is a shame that the project was canceled, as it could have made the Vampire Hunter D fandom a bigger one had this actually fallen through.

But we do have the live-action series though, although nothing has been mentioned of who is going to play who, and which novel is going to be turned into a series, or if the series will start in chronological order.
