Okay, here's a taste of what I'm doing! How it all begins!
heart
It’s hard to know where a story starts. Technically, I suppose this whole thing began hundreds, well, really, thousands of years ago, but I should at least start within my lifetime. I guess it started really when I moved to Forks. Small logging town in northern Washington. One of the rainiest and cloudiest places on earth. My dad’s the police chief there, and I had to go live there. But I guess that’s all superfluous. Really, if I want to know where this whole thing starts, it’s out in an abandoned saw mill 20 miles out of town, with the fact that no matter where you are, in a small, damp hick town like Forks, or a big sun baked and burnt city like my old home, Pheonix, Arizona, teenagers will find a place to congregate, play music, drink alcohol and do everything their parents have told them is wrong. Moving to a tiny town where nobody knows you sucks. There’s no getting around that fact. Especially when it’s a horrifically depressing place like Forks. But I tried to think about it. Put it in perspective of my life. I’m 16. In two years I’ll be 18 and going to college. I’ll go back to somewhere that’s populated, leave everyone I know behind and re-start once again. Two years. And I’m out of here. A chance to get away with doing everything I’d ever regret and not have it come back to haunt me. I’d sort of gotten to know this girl, Jessica, in my first week of school, and she told me about a party at the old saw mill and I was glad that there was a little excitement here. Jessica picked me up at eight and we headed out. “Bye, Dad, I’m leaving!” I called and bounded out the front door before he could catch a good glimpse of me and tell me to put on something else. I knew I’d just give him a pout and say “But mom lets me dress like this all the tiiiiime!” and he’d drop it, but I didn’t want the hassle. I opened the door to Jessica’s white sedan and climbed in the passenger seat. “Let’s get going!” I said, shaking my long dark hair out of my eyes. “Are you wearing that?” Jessica asked. I looked over at her and saw that she was wearing jeans, a slightly fancier than usual shirt, and big costume jewelry. I looked down at my black shorts, knee-high stiletto boots, black tank and said, “Um yeah. This is a party, right?” Jessica laughed and grinned, “Yeah, you’re right. Not a whole lot of girls here dress like that, though!” I had to laugh as well, “Well, hey, you can’t go to a party without dressing the part!” So we drove out. I put my feet up on the dash and put on the radio. Jessica was pretty cool. She wanted to get out of this podunk town, too, and was fascinated by any story of the outside world. I told her that if she wanted exciting stories she was talking to the wrong girl. It was getting dark, and the rain that started falling made the scene only darker. We drove past the squat, square cinderblock buildings of Main Street, and turned out onto the highway. I looked up at the towering pine trees surrounding the road. The trees and the green here were simply breathtaking. They dominated everything in Forks, always in the background, closing in the horizon like an inescapable verdant wall. After the vast desert of Arizona, it was startling, claustrophobic. But somehow beautiful. I stared up at the blurred tops rushing past until it grew too dark to see them. Jessica turned onto a bumpy, muddy unpaved road. “If you’re really bored and desperate for some stupid fun, take this road at anything faster than ten miles per hour,” said Jessica. I snorted, “Hopefully we won’t have to resort to it very often.” Jessica made a little titter that hid the frequency that teenagers here resorted to it. After several bumpy minutes, a light appeared through the trees, and the old saw mill came into view. A line of beat-up old cars were line up out front, and light shone through the cracks between the wooden slats of the walls, creating the only illumination in the darkness of the woods. Music thumped from the inside. One of the girls in the knot of people in front of the door yelled at Jessica and held up a half-empty, the international sign of “I’m already drunk!” Yeah, teenagers wherever you go aren’t all that different. The inside of the saw mill was cold and dank and smelled of rotting wood and old grease. There was a big table set up in the middle that people were dancing on, a sort of platform for “look at me!” I shivered in my shorts, but once I got a bottle of vodka in my hand, things got warmer. People had come from all the surrounding towns, and the tiny mill was crowded with bodies all trying to dance. I just chatted with Jessica’s girl friends and danced and drank. They all seemed impressed to meet a new girl. I was surprised. I mean, technically I wasn’t even that new. I’d come to stay with my dad before, usually during the summer. I sort of knew a few kids of his friends, but, that was still a pretty small number. I kept looked around at the boys. Some of them had been looking at me, I could tell by the way they blushed and turned away quickly when my eyes fell on them. I’d been wondering if it would be worth getting a boyfriend while I was here. I didn’t want to get tied to Forks, yet I still didn’t want to get bored. I concluded that it still wouldn’t mean s**t if none of the boys I met were real boyfriend material. Looking around, my prospects seemed dim. I wanted a boy whose future prospects lay somewhere outside of the logging industry. So I focused back on chatting with Jessica and her friends. One of the girls leaned into Jessica and said, “Oh my God, look who’s here.” I looked around to see who she was pointing to. Five people had come in, and everyone seemed to be staring at them. I couldn’t take my eyes off them. Three boys, two girls, all paler, and more beautiful, than anyone I’d seen before. The taller of the two girls was a tall, curvy blonde with curly hair that reached down her back and framed her pinup-perfect face. The littler girl was tiny, wearing a dark purple flapper dress, pulling behind her the youngest-looking boy. The disappeared into the crowd so quickly, I could only get a glimpse of the girl’s cropped dark hair and the boy’s bright electric blue eyes. The tall blonde turned to the tallest boy, who I assumed was her date, and they disappeared, as well. The final boy was left standing by himself. His eyes reached mine, and I felt a strange spark in my chest, followed by the feeling of all my air rushing out. He was ******** gorgeous, the kind of boy that gets hordes of screeching fangirls. I immediately wanted to go over and just touch him, run my fingertips over the sharp angles of his cheekbones, the square of his jaw, and the soft fullness of his lips. “Who’s he?” I asked. Jessica gave a little laugh, “Edward Cullen, don’t bother, I think he’s gay.” I snapped out of my trance, “What?!” Of course. I should have known. This always. ********. happens. “Shut up, Jessica,” said one of the other girls with a laugh, “She insists he’s gay only because he doesn’t have a girlfriend. He’s probably smart enough to realize that with looks like that he’s absolutely wasting his time with anything here. Got to move on to bigger and better things, you know?” I looked back to where Edward had been standing, only to see him gone. I swore. “Those people he was with,” I continued, “Who were they?” “His family,” said the girl, “well. I dunno. It’s hard to consider them family if that makes them siblings and they’re all dating each other.” “They’re all adopted,” said another girl, “Adopted by this rich Doctor Cullen and his wife. They moved here last year from Alaska, they all get home schooled, and they don’t really talk to anyone. Except for you know…. Doctor Cullen….. Kinda has to talk to people being a doctor and all. But he doesn’t talk about his personal life.” I looked around for Edward or any of his adoptive siblings, desperate to get a glimpse of their beauty once more, but I was disappointed. I sighed, knocked back the last of the vodka in my plastic cup, and heard the DJ turn over another song. “Oh my God,” said Jessica, as the opening notes to a new song started, “I love this song!” I recognized it. “Holy s**t!” I said, “Me, too!” I grabbed her wrist, “Come on, let’s go dance!” Jessica shrieked noooooo, she was terrible! I made a noise at her and went over to dance on the “look at me!” table by myself. I could get a good glimpse of the crowd there, and maybe even get Edward to see me. Yeah, I was pretty drunk. Even that drunk, it was something I’d never do back in Arizona. But what the hell. I climbed up, put my hands over my head, and began to swivel my hips in the most seductive way I could. The crowd cheered. Down at the other end, someone else was trying to climb up. I was stunned to see the smaller girl, Edward’s “sister.” She was one of the prettiest girls I’d ever seen. Her hair was short and dark and spiky, creating a nearly unbearable level of cuteness.. Her eyes were wide and dark, and her lips full and rosy. She was small and had fine bones. The beads on her dress sparkled in the lights, the long fringe bouncing against her knees. It only accentuated the grace of her movements. Which was doubly impressive considering that she was dancing like a stripper. She made a gesture for me to come closer to her. I had to comply, and suddenly I was dancing closer than I’d ever been to another girl. I heard everyone around me cheer, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. I tried to muster some form of thought, to do something other than dance, but the pounding of the music and the girl’s wicked grin chased it all away. She raised her hands above her hands and swiveled her hips without taking her gaze from me. I could feel her skin brush against mine. The coldness of it gave me goosebumps. She touched the side of my face, running a long, slender finger against my cheekbone. I put one hand on her hip, thrill rising in my stomach and chest. The girl’s face was an inch from mine. I leaned in and put my lips on hers. Even her lips and face were cold, but she was delicious, like an ice treat on a hot sweaty day in the middle of a dry summer. The girl stepped away, still grinning at me, laughing, and then suddenly, I someone busted open the door to the saw mill. “The cops are coming!” I looked around at the faces around me, suddenly turning away

Things feel as though they're rushing through way too fast. I don't like the "typical" teen feel to it either. Partying and such...meh (I hate teen genre stories anyway so...it could just be me). It's just if Twilight was re-written to actually be good I don't really think it would be this.

I wrote up some character profiles. tell me what you all think! lim/b = like in movie/book. dnm= does not matter Carlisle: Alignment: neutral good posing as true neutral Personality: Slightly creepy man of questionable morals, somewhat of a fussy Englishman stereotype. Deeply shallow, he likes beautiful things and tends to evaluate everything based on physical beauty. Physical Age: mid 30s Appearance: lim Time Period/Story: Was a Catholic priest/witch hunter in the middle ages, until he tried to catch the wrong witch (Aithne). Became a doctor as an excellent way to get blood via bloodletting, developed his skills as technology progressed. Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, tends to stick his d**k into all sorts of unsavory places. Rosalie: Alignment: Neutral good Personality: very loving and motherly, but will still kick some a** when needed. She acts as the unofficial “Mom” of the Cullens. Physical Age: 22 Appearance: linkTime Period/Story: Daughter of a ship-builder in Cape Cod in the early 1800s (Regency Period), fell in love with a handsome sailor who went missing at sea. Spent a lot of time alone, looking out at the sea, which the town doctor, Dr. Cullen, mistook for suicidal tendencies, and, because of her beauty, decided to turn her into a vampire. Stayed with Carlisle for a few years as his “nurse” before deciding to strike out on her own, later re-joining him when Edward and Alice had been “adopted” by him. Sexual Orientation: straight, rejects all of Carlisle’s advances, coupled with Emmett Edward: Alignment: Neutral Good Personality: mysterious, gentlemanly, cagey, can be a real d**k at times. Physical Age: 17 Appearance: still deciding Time Period/Story: mid 1800s diphtheria outbreak, dying mother begged Dr. Cullen to save her son, was turned into a vampire after seeing his physical beauty. Is kind of embarrassed that his story is lame, so he avoids telling it. Sexual Orientation: straight, implied relations with Carlisle and Alice, coupled with Bella Alice: Alignment: Chaotic Good Personality: bubbly, quirky, cute, and ******** crazy. Turns into total killing machine when provoked. Has the most amazing vintage clothing. Physical Age: 18 Appearance: lib/m Time Period/story: initially does not remember being a human, Bella later discovers her story on the history channel. Was the daughter of a British tea plantation owner in India in the late Victorian period. Fell in love with local boy, but began developing schizophrenia. Her father blamed her symptoms on Hindoo witchcraft, creating mass tensions between the natives and the English. Alice eventually wandered into the woods where she was turned into a vampire by a primordial vampire Jesus, and thus has her memory wiped clean. Upon her disappearance, her father slaughtered her lover’s family and many other natives, finally succumbing to madness himself and letting his plantation fall into ruin. Eventually made it to the US, where her first memory is of being in a carriage with Carlisle and Edward looking at her and asking her questions. Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, likes to play around. Coupled with Jasper. Emmett: Alignment: Neutral Good Personality: Patient, protective Physical Age: 23 Appearance.: linkTime Period/story: Midwestern farmer boy turned soldier in World War 1. Was badly wounded in the trenches, met and fell in love with the beautiful Nurse Hale. Began to die of an infection, but was saved by Rosalie without Carlisle’s permission. Carlisle can be somewhat contemptuous toward him, but Emmett remains passive and respectful. Because of his war experience seeing more human blood than he could ever wish to see, he has serious issues with blood, and only drinks animal blood that has been bottled and delivered by the vampire sustenance delivery service. Sexual Orientation: Straight, coupled with Rosalie Esme: Alignment: neutral good Personality: very submissive and somewhat diminutive. Weirdly morbid, has a fascination with suicide and likes to follow the suicidal online so she can meet them and “help them along.” Physical Age: 42 Appearance: MILF Period/Story: 1940s housewife raising six kids. One day she left the kids with her sister and took off driving to a remote cliff where recently a girl had jumped to her death after learning of her fiancé’s death in the war. Was looking over the edge of the cliff when she slipped and fell but barely survived only to be sent to a hospital to be “treated” by Dr. Cullen, who was very angry at Rosalie and looking for a new “mom” figure for his “family.” Sexual Orientation: straight, coupled with Carlisle Jasper: Alignment: neutral good Personality: incredibly sweet little southern gentleman. Physical Age: 15 Appearance: link linkTime Period/Story: grew up in the 1950s-60s under the abusive tyranny of his drunken father, was sexually abused by him as a teenager, eventually ran away from home. He was found by a vampire to be had as a little snack, but the vampire had too much blood and tried to save him by giving his own blood, but then accidentally began turning him into a vampire and immediately left. Thus, he is an “incomplete” vampire, one who live on blood and has the immortality, but none of the super-strengths and is generally very weak at other vampire things. He is unusually fast and agile for a normal human, however. Lived “wild” for several months after being turned, only to be found by Alice when she was out hunting. Alice immediately fell in love with him and brought him back to the Cullens. As an “incomplete” vampire, the Volturi believe he should not be allowed to live, and have tried twice to have him killed. The first time, they nearly succeeded in setting him on fire with direct sunlight, but Alice came and killed the Volturi henchmen. Despite this, he was still badly burned and had to spend three years in complete darkness recovering. The second time the Volturi came, they didn’t even make it past the door. Sexual Orientation: straight/bi, coupled with Alice

I'm still not rather happy that you decided to change the sexualities of some of the characters.
Even though it's a series I generally dislike, I still find it to be disrespectful.
And also Forks is actually not the rainiest place on Earth.
