Tanis_Everette I maybe totally off target but i though (at least in teh cartoon continuity) that preceptor played a bigger role as Doctor, while first aid was more of a field medic/paramedic. Perceptor is like a general physician... he does no fixing confused Only Rachet does fixing and later First Aid does a little bit but most of the time he's just a leg LOL. At BP, Rachet should be resurrected =p the only character that should have really died is Ironhide because his head got blown off. Otherwise everyone should be still repairable =p Just like all the series when all of them were battered and beaten to a greasy pulp. Magically they get fixed. Who gave BB his new body? I think they should do the same for Rachet 3nodding

I have no problem with them killing charators, but if they can be torn limb from limb early why can't they get fixed from a shot in teh chest. Iron hid i can see off with his head. Prowl some what as well as teh bolt could have hit his spark.

I always saw Perceptor as more of a "software tech", whereas Ratchet was knowledgeable in the workings of the body itself. It makes sense that different 'bots would specialize in different areas. This would also explain why during critical repairs, there are more than one 'bot working on the "patient" at a time.
Perceptor's ability for speed calculation is what leads me to think of him as a software tech. Though of course, he seems to use this ability to whip up new technologies, so it's a multi-faceted ability.
Wheeljack still fits in as "Mad Scientist", lol.

BogiePop DevilsLight PAUL5A Black Pearl Angel 48356 I kind of like First Aid, but Ratchet is one of my all time fav Autobots. Besides, if I choose First Aid, Ratchet is liable to throw a Cybertronian-sized wrench at my head. 0_0 But since he died in the movie, First Aid had to take over as the main doctor of the Autobots. If the other seasons said anything, Wreck-Gar kind of took over that job. First Aid is a meh medic in my opinion. I think they should just resurrect Ratchet smile NO! only Optimus Prime can have that jesus power.

I have to agree with Mylian and stress that Ratchet went up against Megatron not only once but twice.
And won the first time, tied the second.
Outside of the comic book he's just a helper character so you can't truly compare the two, I mean, how many lines did he have?
Plus, he's the only one who can ressurect Optimus Christ, that makes him God.
