A feline figure marked the horizon, the tail swaying back and forth, the eyes seemingly locked upon Skuld. She sent forth the wind to bring back to her the scent of the creature. The wind rustled through the feline's fur and returned. It was indeed her sister. A wide, childish grin spread across her face.

Skuld took a last look back towards the men. The fighting had died down. Most appeared too tired to go on and huddled amongst individual groups. No one wanted to be left to fend for themselves if the fighting were to ensue. However, a few of the men seemed distracted. Something had caught their attention enough to rid their mind of the thought of war. No more fun? Aw, oh well. I'll play with you again later, I have more important business to deal with now.

Turning forwards again, Skuld quickened her pace towards her sister. It soon became a ran and within minutes she reached her destination. She tackled her sister to the ground, laughing all the while. Getting up she said, "It's good to finally see you," and wrapped her arms around the furry neck of the feline.

Lead by their brutish instincts, man began to wander toward a gentle scent that seem to float above air, discarding their weapons and jealousy aside for the time being. Anticipating their predictable actions, Arpiedes carried Levi's shaken body above their sight and hid their presence. Then descending once more, the demigod took on the appearance of a cloaked woman, the hood casting a shadow across whimsical eyes. Finding the source of the aroma, the men found themselves disoriented and silent. There, standing before them was the answer to their induced passions and unlike the previous female, she was attainable. With a half smile, Arpiedes spoke in a woman's voice, "Guinevere." The daughter of Levi lifted her equally blue eyes to reciprocate the men's gaze, acknowledging her implanted identity.

"Choose."

Guinevere did not hesitate, immediately raising a hand, its palm facing the sky as she invited the strongest man, the only one still unscarred by the prolonged battle. He, the man named Kiernan, was the perfect compliment to her intelligence and fair nature, as he possessed determination and strength. Bewitched, the man chosen stepped forward, taking her hand with both of his quivering hands. Rather than fear, he shook with brimming passion.

Mildly pleased, Arpiedes then revealed her face and a name to match. "I am Josephine, a disciple of the demigod Arpiedes." His female identity did not lack in his beauty, with flowing strands of ink for hair and deep brown eyes, she was nearly as desirable as Guinevere. "If you wish to attain a woman of your own, you must not touch Guinevere or Kiernan and allow them to live in peace." Her voice was calm and light, like petals plucked from a flower. "Build a temple atop the highest peak, then pray and sacrifice the products of your efforts. It will be a temple for the deity of flames, where your desires will be quenched through realized miracles." Her eyes then followed through, setting their gaze on the two. "Miracles like that of Guinevere."

With that, driven perhaps by the words of the messenger or more likely, by their blind lust, men began to search for the highest peak. In hand, were tools and materials given to them by Josephine, the mysterious figure they could call prophet to Arpiedes, the voice of an unseen entity.

Then, growing tired of the constant proposals for miracles, or marriage, Josephine disappeared. In her place, was Arpiedes who had, in companionship the fair Levi.

Skuld releases her arms from around her sisters neck, but continues to stroke the felines head, enchanted by the smooth fur. A whistle escapes from her barely parted lips and is carried toward an unknown region. Hearing the whistle, the first creature Skuld had ever encountered scurries into the palm of her hand.

"I knew you mustn't have gone far," she spoke softly to the mouse as if it could understand her words. "Your fur is much more coarse than my sisters." A chuckle. She turns to the feline. "Didn't want to share your heavenly fur with the rest of the world? How selfish of you." An air of innocence fills her voice.

But what is it that I have that's special like my siblings? There must be something... The mouse falls asleep in a fold of Skuld's clothing. A smile forms. "These creatures. They don't fear me. That must be it." Speaking more to herself than anyone else. "But the humans...they're different. Such violent creatures. No, they don't deserve to be in the same category as creatures. Monsters really." A tear falls from an icy blue eye. "It's sad how such beauty and such terror can stem from the same hand."

Bastet licked her little sister fondly and allowed her to pet her. Her jaguar form wasn't meant for such civilities, but she let it go. As Skuld let out a whistle, Bastet was momentarily distracted by her brother's movements far away. She could feel his begin to grow. The smallest of smiles danced on her face as she returned her attention back to Skuld.

She listened to her quietly without offering any comment. She slowly turned back into human form. Her fur disappeared into her bronzed skin, her hair grew longer, and her body features more pronounced. Olny her eyes stayed the same, they kept their golden firelight. Bastet gently wiped the tears from her sister's eyes. Then she got up and walked to edge of the cliff and watched the humans fight. She could feel anger well up against them for her sister's pain.

she looked back at Skuld and said, "It's time to teach then." She turned back to the humans and in her minds eye sketched off a piece of land. Then she made a series of sign and slammed her fist into the ground. On impact a wall of sand rose over the human fight and smothered them, only leaving a couple of plants and humans surviving. The survivors looked around dazed. And thus this became the first desert.

Skuld gasped in terror as the tidal waves of sand swallowed the humans. She knew they needed to learn right from wrong, but this punishment seemed awfully harsh to her. She was glad to see that at least some survived though. Hopefully, she thought, these creatures are capable of change.

The survivors ran their fingers through the increasingly hot sand, in awe of this new creation. Skuld could see the beads of sweat beginning to roll down their faces. It was too much for them. Like this, they would all die within a short while, and no lesson would be learned. All would die for nothing.

Thinking quick, Skuld plucked a few blades of grass. She blew a quick breath on to them and small beads of dew formed. Crushing the blades in her fist, she threw the remains toward the desert and bid the winds carry the remains there. As the remains fell to the sand, short prickly vegetation poked its way up through the sand. The cacti were scarce, but they carried the nutrients and fluids the humans needed to live.

With a short whistle a bird flew to Skulds arm. She whispered inaudible words to it and it flew away. The bird flew to a man curiously examing one of the cacti and carefully cut open the cactus with its beak and flew away. The fluids poured onto the sand and the man fell to his knees and began to lap up the fluid.

"You shouldn't be so harsh next time...If you're going to let something live, at least make sure it's capable of living in the conditions you create," Skuld said with a smile, not seeming at all upset with her sister. They were here to learn just as the humans were too, after all.

Bastet grinned sheepishly and ruffled her smallest sister's hair. She watched the humans cluster about the cati. At first they looked as if they were about to fight for food. But the heat wave left them too exhausted to do anything.

Slowly they began to realize they had to work together to survive. Bastet felt a slow smile creep onto her face. She blew into her hand softly and allowed the smallest of sandstorms appear. The storm tickled the survivors, just barely intimidating them. However, it was enough to get them to group together to protect themselves.

Bastet let her hands drop causing the baby sandstorm to disappear. The humans, realizing the danger was over began to make gestures and attempted to communicate with each other. Bastet made no move to interfere. She was going to let them discover their own language. Slowly, the humans began to migrate towards the largest group of plants, something short of an oasis. It was there they began to build the first shelter of mankind.

As man began to build, their knowledge of time did as well. Gradually, logic and reasoning came to them as a solution to their questioning minds. The idea of rest came to them as a result, recognizing their own weaknesses as humans. Now, though man was unified through common ideal, suspicion remained and lingered bitterly from the Great Battle. In lacking the presence of their messenger Josephine, the thought of peace seemed more distant than ever.

Despite this, a civilization came to be.

Growing with abnormal speed was the society of man, with every small goal driven by the insatiable need and passion. The construction of homes, the social order, distribution of responsibilities and the like; all accelerated under the guidance of appointed disciples of Josephine. However, the shallow efforts of man fulfilled only the barest requirements. The houses on the verge of collapse, the order crumbling and responsibilities neglected.

From the clouds, Arpiedes watched with light amusement at the minds of man, their ideas and interactions both exceeding and failing to satisfy his expectations. His attendant, the gifted Levi, sympathized with his brethern and wished to aid them, but his devotion for his God remained his greatest priority. Remembering his own family, Arpiedes cast his gaze elsewhere in search of his sisters. Finding them surrounded in the sands, the demigod was pleased to see the changes during his absence, but found little enjoyment in the actual content. There was little creativity in their imaginations, poking and prodding at man like children, attempting to guide them to reaching their own conclusions.

Such is the work of immaturity.

Then, rather than make evident the flaws of his kin, Arpiedes decided to showcase true obscurity birthed only to satisfy his own amusement. Sending Levi as his messenger, the deity watched from above as the intelligence and confidence of his attendant swayed the people, though his gift from the heavens needed little encouragement. Once the people of the sands tasted the tempting beverage themselves, all reason and suspicion disappeared.

Alcohol.

Of course, the adverse effects of his intervention would not be made clear until much later in the lives of man, when their greed and indulgence could only pay retribution by consuming their existence.

Edit Changed a message to just alcohol as a gift. >_<

{You gave alcohol??? T-T}

He floated while his small four-part wings twittered about. The One had granted him very fashionable feathers – of soft white clouds, of the dark night, of mixed quetzal and peacock tails, and of essence of burning brilliance –all combined into great iridescent sheen.

He was curiously watching the whole spectacle below him, and he could pinpoint his siblings at every corner of the world with certain sharpness. Enjoyment.

Quevon hadn’t any, yet.

The others would surely form the landscape, monitor the pull and reaction of their subjects, frown or become gleeful at any event. Teach them or torment them with their creations, whatever the perspective.

But he could do none of those things.

Because he could not blatantly go and do so. It wasn’t his style. Besides, he didn’t think The One had given him that sort of power.

Then he had a great idea.

Hmm. Let’s explore the minds of these subjects of theirs! I’m interested to know what they’re trying to think, what they’re trying to feel! So excited was he.

He swooped down and naturally dissolved himself into a man who was gurgling some spoken tones out to some other man. He could feel the powerful heartbeat. Then he transferred himself to the other man. Beautiful heartbeat. He did the same to several other men. Then he moved onto the women. The feeling he got when he did so was slightly different to the men. Yet, he was quite disappointed.

What a lack in sophistication! All so similar, yet they're still having trouble working out things together... , he sighed.

Then he decided. I need to twist a few things here and there.

So he went back around through everyone he had just encountered, unknown to those mortal beings, and he granted them the diversity of personality.
