So on my very first game, Pokemon Blue, I had finally reached my goal of getting all 150 pokemon. But some time after that, I was saving and the battery ran out. Needless to say to those of you who this has happened to, Everything was erased. I was wondering, Does this still happen, even on the newer games systems? Or have the consequences of powering off while saving been reduced everything you've done since you last saved being erased? Because I always freak out when my batteries are low and I want to save. Especially when I've used the PC and it's "saving a lot of data".

The game goes back to your last save point, as unlike before, the game doesn't erase your last save until after it has created a new save file. I'd imagine such things was a popular problem amongst Pokemon-gamers everywhere.

That's good to hear. That's still not something I would want to happen though. But did that happened to anyone here?

Kunx the Mighty No because I was always careful Gen 1, Gen 2 I abused it to clone. I had a better option. I had this thing you could plug a GB game into and you could copy all of the save data back. It was a save backup device. So i would back up someone's save, they'd trade a pokemon to someone else, then I'd restore their save data, and keep a backup copy for myself. razz Thus getting ALL of their pokemon. I've had the battery run out on me when saving, and I've accidentally kicked a game out of the slot while saving. It corrupts the save data. Basically what happens at that point is that there are 2 saves stored. 1 that you have access to and one that's for backup. So if you corrupt your save file it goes back to the most recent one that works. of course there SHOULDN'T be a way to corrupt both of them since you have to be IN GAME to corrupt the save which means that the backup save file would work if your able to corrupt your main save.

I recently powered off my Pearl version while it was saving cuz I wasn't paying attention. I was so glad nothing happened. I'm so close to completing the Pokedex. Anyway, I remember I'd use the cloning glitch in Gold and Silver, and they're still fine.

I've had something similar last night, where in my emerald, as I was saving, the music started going funky, then right in the middle of saving, the game reset by itself, then started making loud screechy noises. Once I turned it off, took it out, put it back in, and turned on the power, I got a "Your save file is corrupted. The previous save file will be loaded." message.

I haven't had the weird reset thing happen to me, but I've had the power-out during a save happen to me with the older games. Nowadays that's not a problem for me. Why? I always make sure to have my DS on a charger at night, and it's always plugged into the wall near my bed. I never get low on power biggrin .

Had 150 pokemon in a save file, and a guys little brother was playing my GB (big fatty one) while we were playing a different console and he started and saved a new save file. Backups FTW!

I remember one time I was at a babysitters house and let her daughter play my gold version. The rest is obvious.
