Quote: You didn't miss much. Any time something cool started up it got pissed all over... except the one time we insider traded plague doctor masks. s**t was tight, we bought up a whole lot, artificially popularized them, then sold them all at massive profit. Apparently, the GD manipulates the Market whenever it's bored.

Apparently, the GD manipulates the Market whenever it's bored. That's just the tip of the iceberg. There are entire guilds of rich investors based around forcing the prices of certain items up (or down, for hoarding purposes) and profitting off of their manipulation of the Marketplace, sadly. A perfect example is the North Kitten Star: Same drop rate as the Gold Ivan doll, but its worth is in the millions because the only people who have them have 50 of them. stare

 Ohh.
>.> <.<
I bet we could too.
Although we shouldn't.
Honestly, that's sort of socialistic, isn't it? Manipulating the market, but it's not run by Gaia so I suppose it can't be a communistic market. I guess the Gaia market is a total capitalistic market? I mean, Gaia could do something, like release more of the item, or adjust the prices themselves, but it seems that they don't give a ********.
They don't do much about the inflation.

We could. Anyone with the money to buy up enough of an item to create an artificial shortage could. Personally, I disagree with it with regards to fairness; it's the reason almost every new item is ludicrously overpriced these days. stare
Honestly though it doesn't succeed very often and you have a huge potential to lose a lot of money if you're thwarted by a hoarder, so it's not a very smart move unless you have a big group of investors with limitless funds.

That's true.
I really wanted that Pale Marionette item, and I was really pissed to see it in the millions. :/
Would market inflation be the cause of that?

Yeah. It was only 3m when it came out and it's seen multiple rereleases, so there's no shortage. It's just a cool item and everyone wants one, so there's an opportunity to jack the prices up.
I think your best bet is to try Snow Apples or Love Charms.

Oh dear god.
If I sold Hyde's bloodlust now, it'd be a almost a million in profit.
I bought it when it was around 2 mil. Maybe 2.2 mil.
Lowest price now is 3.3 mil.
It's been going up all week.

If I do, I don't know what do invest the 3 mil in. o.o Compass of Seidh and/or Seracila Pendant. You'll definitely net a nice profit with the Pendant next week, as it will finish up.

1. Don't sell your Bloodlust until after this RIG is gone, but before the next RIG comes out (in case of a rerelease). 2. Don't invest in 1st gen Seracilas right now or you'll end up competing with people who have been hoarding for months. If you want to profit on Seracilas, buy the cheapest gen possible this Friday after the EI report (it won't evolve twice in a row, so it'll naturally deflate when it doesn't evolve because people will sell their X to buy the Y that did) and sell either right before their final evolution or right after.

-nod- How will I know when this RIG finishes?
Also, just the cheapest gen? Like, it doesn't matter?
Makes sense.

Necroing threads is fun.
I decided to try vending following some of your tips, and it's worked really well. Thanks a lot for the guide! I might supply some of my better profits later. >_>
Another suggestion I wanted to add was keeping a spreadsheet with your transactions. I've personally found it to be helpful; since you have records of what prices you've previously bought and sold an item for, you have a better idea of whether or not you should go for that new listing. The Store Log sort of does this, but the records seem to be listed at random and it makes it hard to find what you're looking for.

Personally I don't keep track since I've been doing this long enough to go with my gut, but I know a lot of people do and it helps them out a great deal when they're getting started. I'm thinking of listing some items/situations to avoid, to help people from losing money.
