Oh.
Oh. That's what she wanted. He barked out a peal of laughter that rumbled more deeply than even he was accustomed to. But his amusement drowned out his surprise. "A ritual of life performed with a tool of death? Somehow I doubt that would please Shade." Phaedra would appreciate the irony though; the pair lived out similar irony on a daily basis.
He made no move to stop her. Instead he watched her remove the rope with mild interest. What would she do with it, cast it aside? But she only left one end free. The noose remained. Good girl.
Problem, problem... realized as he remembered a time before Shade, that obscurity of nearly-forgotten memory produced on occasion. He knew he had once been much different. Different... more alive? All of this lust, for anything beyond death and blood, were now an abstract concept. He could not help but feel a certain separation, as if he was watching something only mildly interesting. How to tell her?
Oh yes. He was going to wait, the 'convincing' that would be done later. Somehow he doubted she would believe him. How could she? But his body had no trouble responding! And he could not really explain it even to himself. He could just picture how the conversation would be, something like,
"You'll forgive me, I'm afraid I can't help but feel a little... detached, from all of this."
"You can't tell me that when you can do that to me."
How to explain that this kind of stimulus was not what he needed? That was the beauty of Narcisa though, he didn't need to tell her, he could show her and she would understand. And he could do that while giving her what her entire being was begging for.
As always, he just had to remember not to kill her.
She was already beneath him, her touch was maddening. She peered up expectantly. There was no mistake. He leaned forward and nuzzled her neck almost affectionately. Then he bit down, mostly skin and fur taken into his maw, bluntness of a nonlethal bite bruising nerve bundles. He could picture the firing of electricity coursing through her body and limbs as the painful numbness registered. His eyes almost rolled back into his head; he could feel it energizing him. Just as quickly he released her. Harm was not the intention in this situation, but if he did not let go, there would be plenty of it, and she was already mangled from earlier.
Her insistance was delightful and admirable but also unfathomable. Not something he was going to dwell on though.
Meanwhile, taking hold of the loose end of her rope had been his first aim. Upon her release, dirt and blood stained claws fed it to an equally dirty mouth. He tightened the "rein" until there was no slack but did not pull just yet.
The same claw rested itself on her shoulder. His words were carefully enunciated over the obstruction of her rope. "I think you know how this is going to go. Feel free to make suggestions. Screams are also welcome should you feel the need..." He almost asked if it was her first time... but... there would be no comparison to something like this anyway, would there? If she could see his demonic smile right then she might have had reason to fear. But suddenly there were a handful of reasons why she couldn't have moved if she wanted to.

Hearing him laugh was not the reaction she had planned on. Her ears lower back as he spoke. Maybe she had gotten her Shade rituals wrong. She felt heat rise under her skull. She felt rather foolish right now but she flicked her tail trying to figure out her next set of words.
She was not clueless to the strife that was going on within his body and mind. He seemed a bit lost despite his stern words. But his body and his words were so very different. As his fangs and mouth found her neck the reaction of his body as her own tensed in white lighting like pain. She gasped unable to make any other noise then a sharp pained gasp her body not feeling like her own for the moment he held her. Everything was fiery but strangely pleasured pain. Her claws dug deeply into the ground until his jaws released her.
She lay there a moment panting softly before she felt the slack in her rope had gone and with a slight glance she would see the end of her rope dangling form his blood matted maw. As she felt his claws press against her shoulder her body screamed with joy. But she could tell from his actions and his set voice this was not what he really wanted.
She gave a low laugh, one that almost matched his for its darkness. She shifted her tail down her hips moving as best she could to unalign her body from his. She saw the flash of his smile and it melted her heart. She felt for a moment love from what he would do even if for now clearly his body wished it. But she growled loudly, "You think that my body would scream with joy from you?" She asked her voice strangely dark. As much as she wanted this and his body seemed to as well she knew her body would be too tired to keep him with her the rest of the night.
"This is not what you had in mind." she set her jaw for the pain she knew she was about to cause herself. As her front right paw wrapped around the paw of his that was still bound to the ground. "Your mind dear Akuji is else where." she smiled up at him her eyes looked at him understanding even if her words were cold. She forced her upper body forward into his leg wail trying to roll her neck and flip him onto his side. She was glad that he had been willing, and there was what she hoped was friendship within this big male. But she had no right to ask something like this of him. At least not now. "You want blood and I am sure the small amount you would get with this act.....is not enough to state your need." She could not help but wonder what her first time with such a beast would have been like. But even if both he and his Kaorai had said she should not get to know them, she could not help but feel the joy and honor of being a toy and friend to at least one of them.

She moved. He growled in frustration and his body almost responded with violence. Her initial parting words especially caused him to tense and see a shade of red that had nothing to do with blood but everything to do with anger. But as he listened he realized that an observation he had made earlier was true, and that was that her injuries were too great.
He released his claws from her shoulder, leaving a steaming trail along her fur. He let go of the rope and let her knock him over. It was a controlled fall and he rolled lightly to a stop. Not to allow such a blow to his ego get the better of him, expressionless, he lay on his belly like a great dog and licked her blood from his paw. His tail thrashed in agitation but he muttered only, "Another time then."
For some reason beyond his understanding he did not at the very least strike her for doing such a thing to him. His head throbbed with a swirling heat of anger and this confusion. Boiling blood seemed to beat on the underside of his skull threatening to ooze through the cracks like magma. She seemed either well-practiced or simply naturally talented at drawing the violence out of others (not to mention, his ability to bring the same out of her). Though her pain alone would have been enough for him, it was good that she realize her limits, and this might have driven her far past them. On another night and with fewer injuries she would have been... safer. Perhaps that was why he made no further comment. But he did not make eye contact. The paw was more interesting.

When Akuji rolled off of her his claws bitting into her flesh she cried out but when she landed on her side she just laid there. She seem to have messed it up again. He confused her so very much. She could see at the time that though his body was willing his mind was not and now it seemed almost the reverse. He seemed almost hurt. She groaned softly. She must have read too much into things. "Maybe there will not be another time." she whispered very softly.
After a wail of laying in silence she turned to watch him licking at her blood from his paw. She felt a twinge of worry, she must taste bad and her body must repulse him. She did not know why her mind was jumping back to its normal state. She sighed. "My body still has a ways to go...if...you wish to do something more Shade like. As you know....I don't know Shade." she said trying to get him to at least respond. Why was he ignoring her? He had not really wanted to take the only thing she really had to offer any male had he? She felt her back twitch at the feeling of blood dripping threw the fur.

Not another time? What was she saying? He was not in the mood for riddles. If she wasn't interested then why lead him around? Was that part of the game? The role she was playing as student-and-teacher? He paused in licking his paw and flashed her a look, then finished and flexed it before laying it back on the ground.
She really seemed interested in being blessed by Shade. The problem was, he could not really remember the events leading up to his own transformation. He remembered sensations and impressions, and a sense that Shade was not really evil... or good. Shade was shade, like an element or part of the weather but with more substance. But any rituals or requirements were lost to his memory.
"I don't really know Shade well myself." He rose and stretched deeply, letting his front claws dig deep furrows in the earth. Who knows, maybe this wasn't really unShade-like. Debauchery should not be out of the question, and everything they'd been doing, which was unmistakably his area of expertise, only lead up to that... But when he said that it was unShade-like he had been referring to the creation of life; that was more in Phaedra's realm. She was the giver of life and he took it away. Of course she always said that the union of Earth (Gnome) and Death (part of Shade) resulted in Life... Too confusing and philosophical. Amusing yes, but confusing.
Perhaps what Narcisa needs to know is Gnome, not Shade... It was a strange realization to come to, which of course lead to the thought that maybe she really ought to talk to Phaedra. But only Narcisa could be the judge of that. Only she could decide whom she wanted to follow, if anyone!
Finally, he said, "Perhaps you should rest." And by that he meant of course, to heal her wounds... He watched her and recognized an expression of dejection not only on her face but everywhere else. He could not understand that; why was she wearing what he himself felt? She was the one who wanted to stop... unless that had not been a choice made out of desire but of self preservation. Perhaps she was feeling more ill than she would put into words. "I don't see why there will not be a 'next time' unless you decided there shouldn't be," he added quietly.

Narcisa felt a bit better that he would now look at her. She hated returning to her 'normal' mind set of things. When she had been 'learning' she was so free and her mind knew little of the self doubt and hatred. She loved the feeling of someone like Akuji enjoying her. But now that she had stopped them she felt lost. She started to think that maybe he really was as disgusted with her and she had always thought he would be. That he would rather see her dead, if not for the fact that she would 'play' with him. She looked down at her free yet scared paw and slammed it down on the ground so she would not see it any more.
"I am sure Shade has...many sides...like anyone Xio or Katorai have. All Elements have....grey areas and levels." She gave a sad little smirk and she moved to her feet. She hated this growing need in her to need Akuji's approval. To hear him say that in some way she was needed. She did not want to need so much to feel the fear of being rejected by him, her only friend. Though she had to admit that one night of blood and sudden lust did not really equal friendship. Though Narcisa felt there was a connection between them. Or at least she wanted to feel it.
"It is getting brighter. Maybe we should call it a night." she said as she looked around. In deed dawn was starting to lighten the night sky, as Whisp would bring into view all their actions of the darkness. The longer Narcisa stayed still now the more her body started to hurt. She felt a bit weak from the lost of blood and the new scars that were started on her body.
She looked up at him hearing the last of his words. "Had I not stopped...I would have prayed that the sun never rose for you to see me in the light." she gave him a smile. "I do hope there is a next time. And I do hope your Katorai leaves you alone again soon." She said with a bit of teasing in her voice as she lowered her head to loop her rope around her paw again. "Next time I would be so demanding and more willing to learn." She was so excited he did seem to want to do this again. She wanted to jump with joy if she would have though her legs would support the jump.
But now she had time to strengthen her body for him. To show him that she could take what he could dish out. And she wanted too! She was not jealous that Phaedra would get to be with Akuji most of the time. She was thankful that Akuji had someone to balance him out. She respected the bound the Katorai and Xio had and she was glad she could be a strange little part of it. "I am sure your Katorai will be done with her Gnome duties now." She gave her head a bow her eyes dancing between worry and the night's playfulness.

(( I'm beginning to wonder... when they finally part ways tonight is she going to be all right without him? As in would she feel lost without him? xB ))
Akuji tilted his head curiously as she stomped her paw. About her statement about the many sides to any given being: was she trying to imply something? Why would she not want to be seen by him in the morning? Was all of this talk of "no regrets" really an excuse to do something she knew she would later regret?
He sighed. His shoulders and ears relaxed a little, not from relief but disappointment. It was not a disappointment in her, after all, a creature like himself was just not normal. But nevertheless it was there. Well if that was the case, then Narcisa had no business pursuing the realm of Shade. And he had grown attached to her enough that he wanted to make sure she pursued which path really was right for her. He would help, if he could. If something like himself could.
He turned his head and peered through the trees to notice for the first time the lightening of the sky. It was no longer gripped by night but draining slowly away into the day. The temperatures and humidity were shifting. The sounds were shifting, the shadows were shifting, everything was shifting. "Well. There is no way to be sure of the future."
His gaze shifted back to the female xio. Even her colors were those of the earth. It was so easy to forget in a world without color, but of endless light and darkness. If his suspicion was correct, then he had much to be disappointed about. Or did he? If Phaedra was also correct, then perhaps he had nothing to worry about at all. He spoke carefully: "Yes, it is almost dawn... if they were helping things to grow tonight it would be finished by that time. It would mean that she is tired, but she is accustomed to healing the worst of my wounds when we meet. I do not believe she would be opposed to doing the same for you if you are interested."
This could be an opportunity for Narcisa to see Phaedra again like she wanted to. She could try to steal her away from him. Or she could choose to learn from her. And he could see which she was better suited to, Gnome or Shade... or neither.

Narcisa watched him look over at the dawn and she smiled. His very was even more pale when the light started to shift to take over the land. She flicked her tai slowly and moved her neck to tighten the rope around her ankle and then her neck. "The future is a mystery that is certain." She wished she could just curl up next to him and rest her body. She did not feel up to going any where.
She hated the way she looked and now that the sun was showing more of her body she felt more of her self hatred growing. But she swallowed it down. Her eyes crinkled with confusion at his offer. Was he actually inviting her to go with him and to see Phaedra again? How odd. "But you said if I were to go near your Katorai you would kill me...I respect that Akuji. I told you I would not. And a few scars might make my looks improve." she said with a dry sounding humor.
She was confused as she watched him and listened to his tones. He seemed sweeter by the light of day. He still seemed as strong and set as before but his manner seemed almost caring. She nods. "I think my body will heal. And I think I would enjoy feeling some of the pain again when I wake up." she said and gave a soft nod.
(I think we have a right to worry. I think she will feel very lost for a wail at least. But I think the longer he is gone the better she will get. Hopefully she wont be too clingy when they meet up again XD)
