Giving a soft groan, Shinichi sighed and decided to rest at the bottom of the pool to regain himself. It was nice to have the other worry about him sometimes; he never had someone to worry about him until Zain came around. He gave a soft smile and nodded, rubbing the back of his head before finally reach out to grasp the fin of the other’s tail and held it. “Caught you…” Giggling softly, he sighed and caught his breath, having had the wind knocked out of him. “I was distracted and wasn’t watching where I was going. Pretty stupid, right?” Shinichi laughed and shook his head. “I’m sorry…”

"It's not YOUR fault!" he replied, aghast. "This pool is just too small for us! It's MY fault for making you play in the first place!"
Cooing, Zain hunkered down next to his friend and cuddled up beside him, pulling his head down onto his chest and cradling it. He stroked the merman's hair again and again, as if he felt he could rub the pain away. "There, see? You DID catch me!" he laughed, nuzzling the top of Shinichi's poor head.

Giggling softly, Shinichi relaxed against Zainire’s chest and gave a soft sight. He let his wings give a soft flutter before relaxing, covering them in comfort as they relaxed. Though he knew it wasn’t his fault, he still felt he had to apologize for his stupidity. “There’s nothing else bigger than to ocean and there’s no way to get back to there from here. I do like this island though… it’s very interesting and everyone here is so nice. Much better than being stuck in that city and out-casted from everyone.” Shinichi knew that Zain couldn't resist that, he didn’t like being ignored and criticized for the good deeds he tried to do for his people.
Letting his hand draw patterns on Zain’s chest, he sighed contently. That strange feeling from before was coming back and making him flush softly, but this time it wasn’t the water. The water in the pool had been refilled and filtered and was now clear. Looking up to the other, his eyes sparkled with some unknown feeling, but it was very strong for the one that had been holding him so protectively.

"I agree!" Zain chirped, "I don't know where we are, but... I'm away from the city and I'm with you, so that's all that matters!"
He grinned at his friend, totally sincere. He didn't care where they were, and almost didn't want to know. It was more of an adventure that way: the two of them, together, just like the vagabond mer of old. Those ancient ancestors used to spend their lives roving about the depths of the ocean with no need for place names, maps or any of that other crap! They could be just like them!
It was a childish idea, but mer are the type to indulge in such fantasies, and Zain suddenly bubbled with excitement at the thought of playing such a game with Shinichi. He almost suggested they play it right now, but his poor angel was still resting against his chest, gently running his hand along the prince's dark skin. Therefore he was content to sit tight, instead raising his hand to play a similar game with Shinichi's lovely face, tracing his fingers up and down and round and round the merman's fair cheeks as he looked up at him. Making a small circle around his forehead, he slid his index finger down the bridge of his nose, and gave the end a small press. "Boop!"

Shinichi flushed softly, noticing how close the other was to him, but he couldn’t help staring at those dark, soft lips. He leaned in slightly, his breath fanning out against the other’s face. His bright eyes looked up at the others, his eyes wide as he looked up at him. His expression almost asked the other, no begged the other to kiss him, to do anything, he just wanted to be close to the other.
The white/pink haired merman pressed himself closer to the other, resting his hands still on his strong chest as he let his eyes stair at the others face openly. He licked his lips slightly and let out a puff of breath, sighing softly as he watched the other close, wondering what he would do.

Zain grinned down at his friend mischieviously, quickly closing the gap between their faces as the white-haired merman lifted his head invitingly. He pressed his lips against Shinichi's in a small, tender peck.
"Hehehehe," he giggled, nuzzling the younger man's nose. "If I'd known tapping your nose would get me a kiss, I would've done it sooner!"
Pointedly, he brought his hand up and lightly poked the end once more, before puckering his lips and closing his eyes comically, this time inviting his younger friend to close the miniscule gap!

Giggling softly, Shinichi closed the gap and tentatively pressed his lips against his companion’s own soft lips. He lingered slightly before he pulled away with a soft sigh and smiled up at the other. Zainire always knew how to comfort him and knew just what he needed when he needed. Nuzzling up to the other, he smiled contently and leaned his head softly against Zain’s chest gently. “Zain… I’m so glad you came here, I was starting to really miss you…” He didn’t know how he really felt towards the other, but all he knew was that he cared deeply for the prince more than anyone else. Wrapping his tail tightly around the others, he pressed close to him and sighed, feeling contented to be in his strong, protecting arms.

"I missed you, too!" Zain replied enthusiastically, hugging his friend tightly. It wasn't a total lie. He'd thought about Shinichi from time to time, wondered what he was doing. That was missing, right?
"Hey, um," he continued, now that he was thinking about it, "What have you been doing all this time anyway? It's been... like... OVER a month since I last saw you!"

“Nothing but wandering… It’s been a little boring and… very lonely. I just met those guys earlier today though, maybe not even a few hours ago…” Shinichi sighed and let his wings droop, moving to drape around them. He nuzzled up to the other once more before pulling back and smiling up at him, glad that the other was happy. “What about you, Zain? What have you been doing since I left?”

"Ech, politics," he replied, pulling a face. "They weren't too happy with me for slashing that guy - even though he deserved it, the rotten son of a squid... - so eeeeveryone got all huffy with me when I got back, and the gypsy prince is in the doghouse again!"
He rolled his eyes dramatically, then grinned and pulled Shinichi closer to him, rubbing his cheek happily against the top of the merman's white head. "Who cares about them, though? I just went to stay with my mom again."
"THEN I got bored, so... I came and found you!" he concluded joyously. "Now we can go have adventures together, yay!"

“Aw, I’m sorry, Zain. I hope I didn’t cause further problems for you. Who KNOWS what everyone would think if you were caught with me.” He sighed and snuggled up to the other, giggling at how the other mentioned adventures. Zainire was always the adventurous type. Shinichi wasn’t much for adventure until now, he had to get out of that terrible city that out-casted him. “Adventuring sounds like so much fun, we could explore this islan-…” The whit haired male was stopped in his tracks of the conversation, realizing that they couldn’t possibly get to land and explore. “Aw… I don’t think we’d do much exploring of the island… There’s no way for us to get around…” Pouting, his hopes were squelched as he slouched against Zain. “I was hoping we could possibly explore the island and meet more people, it would be fun! Only problem is, we can’t walk on land, and we’re nothing like snakes.” Giving a frustrated grunt, he wrapped his arms around Zain. “Oh well, at least I still have my Zain, that’s all I ever need.” It was true; he only needed Zainire to keep him company so he would no longer be alone. That was the only thing he ever really wanted and needed in life, thankful to actually have someone for once.

"Hah, like I care what they think!" he laughed, with more than a hint of rue beneath his light tone. "I'll keep whatever company I want, thank you very much."
"Especially," he continued, giving his friend another flick on the nose. "Company as cute and sweet as my little angel!"
Without waiting this time, Zainire dipped his head down for a third kiss - this one deeper, and longer than the those which had come before. He pulled away slowly, eyes closed, before abruptly bursting into fits of giggles again. "You're so nice to kiss, Chi-chi, and even nicer to hug! I could stay like this aaaall day!" he sang, giving the smaller man a tight squeeze. "And if you're worried about getting up on the island, well, the humans won't dare resist a command from me! I'll have them carrying us around on stretchers if that's what it takes!"
Perhaps his simple confidence was misplaced, having no knowledge of where they were or the humans they were dealing with. However, hearing such sincere belief about a positive solution must have been quite a comforting assurance. As if to reassure even further, Zain gave his friend another tight hug, rocking him from side to side in his ecstatic glee whilst making little, happy cooing noises to seal the deal.
