Though he's definitely a children's book writer ((Lamb for the Slaughter was just weird,)) he still needs to be recognized. His quirky outlook on the world is just ingenious. I've recently started rereading them for nostalgia's sake, and it made me laugh through the entire book. I've only reread The BFG at the moment--because I couldn't find my copy of Fantastic Mr. Fox but I'm going to try and read through as many as I can.
Many of his novels have been made into movies: Matlida, James and the Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr. Fox, biggrin but it's sad how many people don't recognize it when you mention Roald Dahl. Isn't it just depressing how people can watch a good movie and not feel the need to find the book it's based on?

I did too, I'm glad the squirrels were included in the Johnny Depp verison. Have you read the Great Glass Elevator? It's a little random, even for Dahl, if I remember it, but it has been a while since I've read it. I don't remember much plot...but maybe I just don't remember.

I don't really remember much of it, except for the bits with the American president and his nanny. Bush always reminded me of him. I love Roald Dahl's books. I've read most of them and it's hard to pick a favourite. Though I am really fond of his Revolting Rhymes. Especially the character of Little Red Ridding Hood. xd

I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last year. I liked it. I had seen both film adaptations so it was nice to see the book source. I've also listened to the audiobook of James and the Giant Peach that was narrated by Jeremy Irons. I'm kind of amused by the way he spoke when voicing the aunts.
I aim to read more Dahl books soon. It seems that in the last few years I'm reading a lot of children's classics that I never read as a child. xd

i loved james and the giant peach! charlie and the chocolate factory was great, but i'm not gonna lie, i skipped all the oompa loompa songs when i read it. i also loved matilda, but james and the giant peach will always be my favorite of his!
also, i don't think i've ever met anyone who didn't know of this author. then again, i rarely talk about children books, so maybe i just didn't know.
