They fad will return when Eclipse come close to it's release date unfortunately. Fads move in waves. Haven't you noticed that whenever Harry Potter comes out you get the same Twilighters morphing into gushing Rowling fans?

That is something that highly angers me. Illiterate people who only like the movies make all real HP fans look ignorant.

Without Chesterton, Harry Potter wouldn't be Harry Potter!

i saw the movie, and it was another boring teeny bopper movie. The only thing I hated about it is how it shitted on Greek Mythology, and having friends who actually have faiths in the Greek Pantheon, it's quite disturbing.

Ugh. That Olympians thing? Mythology is just FINE how it is, and now they have to slather it in tween appeal? I hate children's books. So. Much.

Thank God a like minded person here. I agree with Sauce. Hollywood really doesn't need to ******** with Greek Mythology by adding tweens. Seriously, wtf was with that line from the trailor, "The Gods are angry"? Really? So am I to assume that every time it rains that the Greek Gods are pissed? Because that's pretty much what was going on in the trailor. There was a news update about "This is the worst storm to hit New York in years" which is what news anchors all across the country say each rain season but some how it translates into Gods being angry this one time. And really, the son of Poseidon is going to save us? Really, how? By drowning everyone that comes his way? Thanks son of Poseidon! You just made the Global Warming issue worse! It's the equivalent of Aquaman coming to save the world when Superman and Batman are nowhere to be found.

The only reason why it's gaining popularity is because the guy that directed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone directed Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It's just a poor man's Harry Potter but Hollywood was smart enough to figure this out and pander it to the uber HP fans that have nothing to clamor around since Twilight made it's debut. Argue all you want, you're not going to sway me from this thinking.

I'm more offended by the fact that the token 'super gurl' of that Tween tale (for now at least) is the daughter of Athena, one of the sworn VIRGIN, ******** Goddesses of Olympus alongside Artemis and Heista. Way to go man, way to go.... -_- Athena was such a bad assed in Greek Mythology too.

OK, OK, I need to address these. ALL of these. Because if you haven't read the books, it's unfortunate that you bash them.

Sauce: I'll agree, it was another teens-save-the-world series, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Scarlet: It's not Hollywood. Hollywood just grabbed a popular book and said, "Hey! Let's make a movie!" And, no, it's not every thunderstorm. The movies got that WAY wrong. In fact, Dionysus and Ares come to the heroes saying "We're angry." Or, at least, they do in the books. Along with Zues and all them other dudes.

Yes, the movie was awful, a disgrace to Greek mythology and the Percy Jackson series. No, the series was not horrible and actually made sense. So, please, before you go bashing a series of novels based on its movie, try reading the books.

Twilight_is_for_idiots: Like I said, read the series. Riordan gives plenty of reasoning for how Annabeth and her siblings can exist. Yes, Athena is a virgin. But, if you remember from mythology, Athena herself had an interesting birth, literally coming out of Zeus's head. While we never get any full detail in the books, Annabeth confronts the problem by saying that the children of Athena are not born like you and I, but are more like mind-children, coming from Athena's head the same way she came from Zeus's. Ta-da! And, see, if you had read it, you would've known that. By the way, her name's Hestia, not Heista.

I love Harry Potter but there is one thing I gotta Address about ALL Books that turned into movies.

The directors seriously need to do better jobs with that s**t because most of the people just watch the movie than read the book.... and that's how society is.

I'll never read PJ and the Olympians because I am too old for teeny bopper things but if my date wants to buy me a ticket to it, sure I'll sit through it. Thus, that's what I know, that's what I see. And that's what I'm going to perceive.

First of all; yes I never once indicated whether or not I have actually read the series from my knowledge and I would appreciate it if you did not pointing your finger and wildly accusing me of things without any knowledge of whether or not I AM in fact guilty.

Secondly: i am very much aware that Athena had unique origins. My primary issue with the matter is that Athena was very much an anti-woman in her behaviour. In fact many of the myths connected to or associated with her are often strongly connected with the fact that she was very much a female who wanted nothing to do with childbirth, marriage, motherhood, or just about any other topics that were associated with motherhood in Ancient Greece. I do not appreciate the concept of her having any sort of child for this matter regardless of whether or not they are 'brain children' as I see it as a sloppy way to excuse the characters origins, very similar to handing a person with a gushing wound a box of bandaids.

Thirdly: I do not appreciate being spoken to like I am some sort of child or am suffering from a learning disability and I would appreciate it if you talked to me like I were a full grown adult instead of using that lecturing tone your previous post reeks of.

The books I'd really like to see become a fad is the House of Night sreies. Around the beginning of the school year, I bought a book, recomended to friends, and now half of the class is hooked. To me it's a decent story (the vampires actually suck blood, the main character isn't a Mary Jane, and it has a plot!).

I read all the books in middle school except for the newest one. I want to see the movie, and the books are fairly epic. Hopefully all the books will become movies, and will over power the Twifail.
