"It's only a hassle at meal times, because all five get hungry at once." she said with a shake of her head. "So you have to feed 'em quick or else they'll bite." she explained and made a face. "Only while they're young though, or so I'm told. Supposedly their metabolism slows down as they grow, so they'll only be like this another week or two." she said and shrugged. "They are such lovelies though aren't they? would you two like to hold one? I'm sure they'd like that if you pet them." she said and smiled.

Kaledan moved a bit closer to the woman. "Like dragons." He observed about the flits' metabolism. Dragons ate less as they grew. He knew that. Came from watching lots of weyrlings as he grew up.
He perked up as the woman offered to let them hold one. "Really?" His voice lost all traces of grunting. The woman was being nice, he should be polite at least.

Kyra laughed lightly, imagining a situation where Chaeren had to feed five firelizards, and keep up. Wouldn't the woman ask for help from somebody, at least for a sevenday or two? Kyra would rather have help than healthy bite marks every day. "I would hope so, but even then they will still get hungry, and you'll still have to feed them without getting bitten. What would be worse is if they ate at different times, one by one coming to you and telling you that they're hungry."
Then the woman offered to let them hold a firelizard, and Kyra grunted as she saw Kaledan somewhat eager to hold one. It was as if he had suddenly become somewhat normal, and only in the presence of Chaeren while when Kyra wanted to talk to him, he only grunted. With a sigh, though, she replied, "I would really like to hold one, I think."

"Well, it's not so bad. I've actually trained them to a certain system that makes things easier for me." she said before looking at all her flits to decide which ones would be best for the two younger people to hold. "Here, how about Eori and Ciel?" she said, looking towards her two blues. She asked the pair mentally to come to her, which they did instantly, and excitedly. They enjoyed meeting new people and doing new things that the pair of bronzes didn't get to do. She held out both her arms and one landed on each. "There now, just hold out your arm before them, and they'll hop on for you." she said with an encouraging smile.

Kaledan glanced at the closer flit, which happened to be Eori. Timidly, he raised his arm up like the greenrider's, extending it towards the firelizard slightly.
The girl seemed to be ignoring him as much as possible and that worked out just fine for Kaledan. Two could play that game. And he really didn't feel like having her talk his ears off.
