Carter444 ok i am sorry that i am asking this. but what is suposed to be special about these games? sorry but when the red yellow and wat every other games came out on gameboy color wat evey it came out on i was not even born yet or not at the age to play them. In my opinion jhoto season was the best game Nintendo created for Pokemon. It was the only 1 with a battle tower and able to actually travel to 2 regions fully. Awesome storyline for its time, and great pokemon. After G/S/C, they just stripped the 2 region deal from the other games and started bs'n them. Now you go to a region, but only 1 part of it or something. The other games were cool, but none compared to Jhoto the way I see it.

Luther Olathes I sure hope they fixed the cloning glitch.. The last thing we need is something for people to abuse. stare The guilds normal stance on things is if it can happen with out modifying the games code, and the function can happen in "normal" gameplay then it's allowed. Why the animosity towards cloning? like RNG abuse, I'm a huge fan of that, and no one seems to have a problem with it, and it uses in game code?

I still don't know what RNG abuse is lol.
Anyway why is Johto so hyped?
Well it had this pokepack with a phone. People would call you for rematches and you'd go and hunt them out. Or sometimes they'd call you and tell you about a massive pokemon outbreak.
Also it was fun to do the bug catching tournaments. It felt like you really had to work hard for stuff like Scyther and it was really rewarding to get that win in the last 2 minutes. The bug catching tourney was different than catching them normally.
They had also introduced the Unknown who are now kinda dumb, but back in the day when internet was dial up (at least for me and lots of other people) it was about trying to figure out the clues to what they were and stuff and how hidden power worked.
On top of that they added the new pokemon types, they had cruise ships you could battle on more than once, you got to earn 8 badges, go to Kanto, see how things were there, get 8 more badges... Plus they introduced berries, they created the SP Atk and SPDef stats, days of the week, night and day, those all mattered...
I mean Silver and Gold I think they just felt like they were too ahead of their time. I mean some aspects of pokemon got scaled forward from that point, but other aspects got scaled backwards and became simplified.
HGSS and possibly a remake of crystal version (crystal is the only standard pokemon series game that I have never owned but only because I had 2 copies of silver and 1 gold copy) are going to probably be the most enjoyable games, as well as the most content filled ones out of any of the other games.
I could be wrong... but... I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised when you play it. I almost thought that they weren't releasing remakes of that generation until they were finally confirmed due to the fact that they had released all the Johtos by that point via other means so there was nothing preventing you from completing the pokedex. But I'm glad they are releasing it. It'll be interesting to see the final progress of all the pokemon titles up to this point and how well they mesh with each other and how many things get added to the huge formula in S and G.

So with HG/SS 2 days away, has anyone figured out how they're gonna playthrough the game. Like start with a jhoto starter and play with no platinum interference, etc. Or trade over an egg/baby pokemon or whatever to start yer journey instead of an original starter? I'm just curious to all. I might start with a Growlithe.. Anyone?

I dunno, I'll probably just transfer the event Pichu and Jirachi and just play through the story like usual and start filling up the Pokedex and EV Training after the gyms. Probably, I dunno.

Just like I did with Platinum, I'm going to play through the game without any form of interference from my other games and only transfer stuff in when it comes time to unlock the events. I think whether or not I choose HG/SS to be my main game is going to depend upon what sort of changes were made to moves like Hypnosis, ect. The main reason why I still use Diamond over Platinum is strictly because I like that additional 10% accuracy from D/P when it comes to online battling.
Back in the days of ol' G/S/C, I had originally chose Totodile as my starter. I'm not sure but I may continue on with that tradition. pirate

As for a starter Pokemon for me, I started out using Cyndaquil, like many others, but when I restarted my Gold and Silver games I always chose Chikorita after that. I think I'll stick to it for HG/SS

Totodile here... Im not really going to have a cyndaquil, or any fire type starter at this point... everyone and their grand´ma starts with the fire type...
Pearl talking I started with Turtwig... Platinum Piplup... who would have know it will be one of my signature pokémon just because of the Steel typing

No interference, I'd go with totodile... and the notch-ear pichu! Its cool.. and totodile is just the most playful out of the 3 starters. Chikorita is ok.. I was never really a fan of them.. and I like typhlosion. He's cool, but his move pool is so limited in my opinion.. toto will walk my adventure.

Never had a specific preference for a starter. Always just went with whoever I haven't used at that point. Think I'll go with totodile this time. As far as a pokemon walking with me, if I'll have one, I'm not sure. Haven't given that one much thought but will most likely be my starter. lol

I always go with water pokemon.
The combo of water and ice almost always does really well in the Elite 4 and most of the gyms and rips through those dragon trainers (most of them) and flying so it's usually pretty easy.
Plus I didn't want to use a typhlosion because i have one with an electric move I want want to use competitively. I really don't see much use for grass pokemon generally. I rarely use them.
