Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: ____ | ------------------------------ Masaki felt a sharp pain in his ribs, and then several shuriken were thrown his way, he twisted in the air narrowly missing two of the blades, he got a nice slice from the third before he landed a distance from his attacker. He frowned as he considered for a moment. That plan hadn't worked very well either, but it was something. He wasn't hitting hard enough, Luo hadn't even received a scratch yet. He would turn things around if it killed him. His right hand flashed several handseals as he charged once more, he had one more idea though it would require him to work really really fast. "Mizu Shuriken no Jutsu!" several shuriken materialized and fired from the damp ground on all sides of Luo as Masaki charged from the front. His hands then closed together and performed another set of seals. He wasn't quite sure he could pull off two jutsu this quickly but it seemed to be going fairly well. As he threw a punch at where Luo was likely to move to dodge the shuriken, his fist began to elongate and eventually formed a nice, solid block of wood. If this didn't hit Masaki wasn't sure what to do. ----------------------------- chakra 21/38Quote: Jutsu 1: Mizu Shuriken no Jutsu (Water Release: Water Shuriken Technique) Description: Through the use of water manipulation, the user can create multiple small shuriken comprised of water and launch them towards the target. After hitting and/or cutting a solid surface, they revert to water. It is important to note that these shuriken can be physically launched (by hand) or launched as they are created. Quote: Jutsu 2: Branching fist. A purely offensive move, the user turns one or both their arms into a brick of wood up to 4 feet long. This can be tipped with a pointed end, or used to "punch" the target from a distance. The blocks are however hard to move quickly, and may hinder the user's ability to block as well as perform seals for jutsu.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As the water shuriken headed for Luo on all fronts, his hands clasped together as his fingers made quick work of hand seals. As they closed in fast, Luo reached the last of four seals flipping off of the bamboo stalks onto the ground as the water shield wrapped itself around him, absorbing most of the attack and blocking the rest. As he stayed his ground, Masaki moved off to his left to counter where Luo might have gone with another Mokuton jutsu. Using the water shield, Luo caused it to sprout an appendage on the side that was a tentacle which reared upwards and then attempted to slam down onto Masaki's head.
The progress of this battle was rather slow for Luo, but he could tell that Masaki being the person that he was would not let it progress this slowly. Surely Sarutobi gave the boy something more than just branches and logs to attack with. What it was however, Luo could not fathom.
CP: 178/180 Mizu Tate no Jutsu (Water Shield Technique) Description: A shield of water is formed around the user as a cylindrical barrier that reaches just above the user's head. After the initial creation that user can manipulate the water, allowing for water spikes, tentacles, hands and the like, though these appendages are not dexterous enough to handle a weapon. The bad thing is that the shield isn't that reliable against ninjutsu. However, an opponent who is strong enough can break through the shield.

Masaki | Academy Student | Suiton | Doton | Mokuton | |Ninjutsu Specialist | Support ninja | Combo User | | Signature Jutsu: Chakra Akyo Ki | ------------------------------ Masaki flew past Luo as he blocked the shuriken rather than dodging. He hadn't thought of that when he had started his "genius" plan. He was wasting chakra as things were going. Obviously his tricks weren't enough for him to get a hit in on the man. Masaki frowned. It wasn't in his nature to desire an ace in the hole, but even so he didn't want his next jutsu's ability to become well known. The more people who knew what it did, the less effective it was. He dodged the water arm and stood firm about 5 feet from his sensei and lord. He took a deep breath as he concentrated his chakra and performed the sealset for the jutsu. It was difficult, though Masaki found it was also a lot easier than it had been before.
After a moment of concentration, the ground broke behind him and a massive tree began growing at a rapid pace. One of the branches grabbed Masaki as it grew, much as Sarutobi's tree had grabbed him earlier. When it finished growing, the chakra tree had developed an unusual shape even compated to the previous tree. The tree itself had reached a length of 50 feet, and an overall diameter of 15 feet, but due to it's bizarre growth was only about 40 feet from the ground. Even so, it rose higher than most of the surrounding trees, an impressive feat in itself. Masaki was hidden in the higher branches, and Luo would almost surely need to climb the tree to find him. Masaki continued to stand still, focusing on the tree, he wanted to be sure the second Luo started moving. ----------------------------- chakra 38/38Quote: Jutsu 1: Mokuton: Chakra Akyo Ki no Jutsu [Wood Release: Chakra Drain Tree] Creates a large tree out from the ground approximately fifty feet tall and having a diameter of fifteen feet. This special tree stays in tune with the users chakra allowing the user to sense any who touch the tree. The user can walk on the side of this tree without even using chakra, however any other shinobi that touches this tree in any way will have 7 points (a B-rank jutsu's worth) of their chakra drained every post they touch it.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner Dropping the water shield and turning to face Masaki who avoided his counterattack, Luo watched intently as a tree grew in rapid succession behind the boy. His face didn't show it as usual, but he was a bit more than surprised, he was impressed. "Looks like Sarutobi indeed taught him something beyond useful. It looks like it can be likened to the raging river force technique in the sense that not only can it initially maim an opponent, but it gives you a source for future elemental jutsu."
Among other things, Luo guessed the technique was at least B-ranked. These were the things that Luo deduced, and although in a sense he was correct, he was taking utter shots in the dark. Surprisingly enough, in all of Luo's missions and battles, apart from sparring with Sarutobi when he was younger, he had never encountered a shinobi with the mokuton bloodline, let alone a seasoned and experienced one. As Masaki disappeared into the brush, Luo sighed to himself and dashed forward, jumping into the tree. As his feet touched the first branch, he felt a pulse go through his body. He felt rattled for a second, not losing his footing but just feeling a tad...odd for a moment.
Shaking off the feeling, Luo jumped upwards and continued to scan the tree for the boy as he scaled the massive and odd looking growth. Nearing the top of the tree, he glanced out towards the rest of the forest brush and realized that the tree Masaki created was taller than the others around. Flipping backwards and landing quietly as he spotted the genin at last, Luo's speed went up to that of a normal jounin, the speed he was to use anyway. Using his specialty projectile weapons, Luo reached into his side pouch and threw three senbon, one resting between his fingers. By the time he released them and they would reach Masaki, Luo would already be approaching from the opposite side; with an open handed palm thrust to be followed up by another and then one more headed for the boy's chest, then ribcage, and finally his stomach.
Between the thrown senbon and his movement to the opposite side, Luo had landed on four branches. Being a speed ninja and quite agile naturally and because of that, only one of the branches even moved from him landing on it; and the one that did move did so pretty much as Luo would've been in front of Masaki. He didn't know what was going on, but that initial pulsing feeling bothered Luo a bit. He didn't feel any different at all, and could only gather that perhaps since the tree was a living embodiment of Masaki's chakra, his own chakra reacted rather oddly to the initially convergence of his own chakra and body, to Masaki's tree. But that was only a theory Luo had, and he could not be that sure about it. As he came up with the theory, the intelligent kage's mind came up with dozens more simultaneously, parts of his brain creating them while other parts used the process of elimination to discredit whichever ones didn't seem feasible. One way or another however, Luo would figure out just what the feeling was, even if he had to ask Masaki after this bout was over.

Masaki felt Luo coming shortly after he had come to terms with the sync he and the tree had. The presence was moving very quickly up the tree, and while Masaki couldn't be 100% sure it was Luo, since the tree wasn't that specific, but he wasn't expecting anyone else and a bunshin would probably be destroyed as soon as it touched the tree. Masaki waited until it got relatively close, he had been able to get a good sense of his speed as he went up the tree so figured he could predict his movements a lot easier. Luo was obviously more taijutsu based than ninjutsu so he would probably try something up close.
Masaki had an upper hand this time though, he knew where the man would be. He took a ready stance and launched himself at where his sensei would be trying to attack soon. He felt something sharp hit his shoulder, but ignored it as he found himself flying down towards his target, he brought his leg down at Luo's head. Luo probably thought he had the upper hand in his speed, he was moving much faster than a Genin could be expected to keep up with, so he wouldn't expect to need to dodge or make any defensive moves in. Masaki had used cheap trickery to try and hit him, he had given himself a speed boost, he had tried to force Luo's movements. This time he had much surer footing so to speak. I, will hit him!!

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner With his first arm outstretched and primed for his first attack as the boy came into view, he saw his senbon pierce his skin but it seemed to unphase the youth. In fact, he leg was coming up for a swift kick to the stomach about the same time Luo would have attacked. Instead however, Luo had to use his hand to switch gears and push the boy's leg down, still aiming to palm the boy in the chest with his left hand. Then he felt it once more; the pulse which rocketed through his body straight down to his feet.
The pulse caused him to stall for a second out of both surprise and slight pain, causing his chest attack to be dulled in strength and speed. It would most likely result in the boy easily deflecting and countering the attack and it had Luo wondering in that split second just what the hell it was. It wasn't normal, and it certainly wasn't a fluke that time. He needed to figure it out and fast. If not, he feared it would cost him some time in this test.

Masaki's kick made contact, but only in that Luo had pushed it out of the wat for a strike of his own. Masaki felt a light almost tickling blow to his chest, and jumped back up the tree. He stood on the tip of the tree looking down at his sensei. He had run out of tree, and would need to go down. Masaki considered for a moment before changing his mind, perhaps his problem was he was thinking too much. It wasn't being true to his nature. So he stared down at his target, performed several seals and then launched himself down the tree. There was 40 or so feet between him and the ground, and plenty of tree to catch himself on, so he put everything he had into this attack. "KoujinBunshin" Particles gathered quickly and formed a clone just ahead of Masaki, which would explode in a cloud of dust as soon as it hit Luo (or he hit it) Masaki then waved his hands in front of him water was drawn from the air, and began to freeze around the branch Luo was standing on. It would be difficult, though not impossible to keep his balance. Masaki was too close to do so much as form a fist at this point, so he settled with a nice old fashioned body slam.

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As Luo's mind ran a million miles a second trying to figure out just what was wrong with the tree, he found Masaki and a clone rocketing down towards him. Twisting his body for a roundhouse kick, he caught the clone in the ribs, his foot carrying it down for a moment before it burst into dust particles. The particles blinded Luo for a second, and dust began to enter his eyes before he acted quickly. Using the water pellet technique, he avoided anymore dust entering his field of view, as well as a projectile punch headed towards the genin.
It was at that same moment however, that Luo's footing was lost for a moment. It would have been quickly regained with a simple burst of chakra to halt his slipping, but the moment he expelled any at all, he felt that pulse once more and he felt it as he fell through branch after branch, at last catching himself with both hands on a branch, swinging upwards to land on it. As he landed, he had quite a few scrapes and scratches from the fall and an exact idea of what was happening. "When I tried to use my own chakra to grip the tree like I usually would, my chakra was literally sucked into the tree. I literally felt it leave the soles of my feet as I tried to keep it there. But how far does this go?"
At this point, Luo had already figured out countless ways to get rid of this issue; and had Masaki been an enemy, how to kill him in the process. However, Luo wanted to know just how far this jutsu went, even at the cost of his chakra. If there was ever one thing about Luo that could be considered an odd fault, it would be his knack for tinkering with jutsu and the people who used them. But it was also what lead to Luo's success in battle. He felt compelled to figure out the ins an outs of a jutsu he had never run into before, so that in turn he could figure out the attack pattern and style of an opponent. But he already knew most of Masaki's attack style, in this instance he was just curious.
Dropping his weights onto the ground below, there was a loud thud as he enabled himself to use the brunt of his speed (though not quite all of it), considered in technical terms to be S-ranked; afterall, he was not considered to be the fastest man in Kiri for nothing. He didn't even bother to borrow any of the speed the mist standard sword style granted him, instead only relying on what he considered his average speed. At this point, Luo looked up and was sure that at this time Masaki had found somewhere to land, and Luo moved towards him quickly. He first appeared on the same level of brush about seven feet to Masaki's left, and flipped through seals so fast it would take some real concentration or a doujutsu to see.
Holding his hands out to the sides, at first it looked like Luo was holding an oversized blue fan in each hand with a ring in the middle. Until that is, he flicked both open to reveal the water devil windmill shuriken he held in each hand which both spun rapidly. Rearing his right arm out, he threw the first of more to come, all sure to take out a branch or two in the process of getting there or missing. He then appeared almost in the same instant behind Masaki, the second of the two sailing a fraction of a second behind the first. Luo's left foot then grazed a branch just above where he was as he was in mid movement, a third one forming and rocketing down at Masaki's head as he seemed to disappear in mid-air to his final destination. This time it took two branches downwards under Masaki and then one more to launch himself up at the boy, holding onto the last projectile weapon, aiming to slice the boy's chest.
Luo already had a plan in mind if the boy couldn't keep up, but he had a feeling that this jutsu allowed Masaki to keep up with him even at this state of movement. He gathered this was nothing that two kunai and some crafty footwork on the tree could do. And that's when he realized something else: He had noticed earlier that while attempting to run up the tree initially, his feet didn't stick like they were supposed to; which was why he had to switch to hopping branches. Perhaps Masaki could move in ways Luo couldn't on the tree. It would certainly be interesting for Luo to watch.

Masaki watcsaw the ball of water fly through the dust, but only too late. It hit him square in the chest, knocking him back a few inches. He could faintly se Luo had already fallen from the tree, and had just enough time to get a hold of the tree. It was a very loose grip, but it gave him enough time to glue his feet to the sides of the tree. He turned and looked down for Luo only to see a shuriken flying at him. He felt Luo's approach at the same time, and thanks to his reflexes (as well as the chakra tree and the distance) was able to move out of the way just in time, he had dodged a second shuriken be a centimeter. He had to move, and he had to move quickly. Masaki jumped straight off of the tree, landing with a thud and sliding down the trunk towards the ground. He heard a heavy thunk behind him, and figured he had dodged another head cleaver. He then ducked under the tree and performed another series of handseals. A bunshin formed from the wood of the tree and started running away. The plan was for Luo to be fooled, though it was a bit of a push. It was amazing the man was barely even phased by the chakra drain, Sarutobi made it sound like it was a massive drain even for higher ranks. Perhaps that was just wishful thinking?

Luo Ushio Pride Of The Mist テキスト翻訳 Suiton| Ina Hassei Ryouken No Jutsu l Fire l Mizukage l Wind l Shark Summoner As Masaki slid out of the way of the attack, Luo found himself slicing into the tree's trunk with the shuriken before it burst into water. However by this time, Luo had had just about enough of the tree. Hurrying around the tree to a precise point, Luo backflipped off of it while forming hand seals facing it. Unfortunately, he received one last pulse from the tree before getting off of it, but he was ready to rid himself of the jutsu in one go. Pressing one hand to his mouth with his index and thumb touching in a circle around his lips and his other three fingers straight up, a flamethrower of fire erupted from his mouth in the few seconds he remained in the same position mid-air.
As it neared the tree, it seemed to spiral into the shape of a dragon moments before it struck the tree. Facing upwards and continuing the stream down the tree as he fell until he needed to stop, he landed with the same hand on the ground crouched. The tree now on fire crackled and snapped, falling towards the river which was why Luo moved from his original position in the first place. Causing a large splash, it seemed to douse the more important areas of the tree as to not threaten the forest around them, and as Luo looked up he saw what seemed to be Masaki running get crushed under the tree. It was at that point that he looked towards the other side of the felled tree an saw the real Masaki sitting crouched with his hands clasped in the last seal he made for what he now knew was a clone.
Stifling a laugh at the site of what looked like a rather embarrassed Masaki, he motioned for him to stand up. "Pack your stuff up and come on baka." Walking towards his weights, he picked them up and put them in the other duffel bag along with his other stuff, also picking up the brown package he got earlier. Standing up, Luo bowed slightly to Masaki expecting him to bow back as he muttered, "Congratulations, looks like your training is complete. Nice work with the chakra draining tree technique by the way, it was....impressive." Smirking a bit, Luo handed him the package which contained an elaborate and expensive kimono, as well as two of kiri's specialty kunai. These kunai were serrated on on end and curved, used for stabbing and making pulling them out all the more painful than when they went in; a luxury indeed. He figured the boy deserved to look nice for the festival, and until he took on missions and got paid, knew that it wasn't really a purchase the boy cared to make. Turneing and walking away from the campsite, Luo expected Masaki to follow. He had already missed more of the festival than expected, and missed his village dearly. It was time to head home.
EXIT.

Masaki looked up from his handseals, he had heard something loud. Hadn't he been sitting in the shade? He turned slowly and looked at the wreckage that was his tree, it had burst into flame? He kicked at what was left of the trunk with a sigh. His face was red. He had been hiding, and was more than ashamed of it. Luo probably gave up on him and that was the real reason they were returning. He would prove the man wrong eventually. The man then bowed, and "complemented" masaki's jutsu. To the boy it almost sounded sarcastic, though it would be impossible to be sure he hadn't known Luo for long. Even so, he bowed deeply to the man. He had to show respect if he'd want any hope of getting stronger. He handed over a package, which had aparantly been hiding close by. Masaki took it carefully, and looked inside. There was some cloth, it looked fancy. Masaki couldn't tell much about it, but it was certainly unlike anything the boy had worn before. As he followed Luo hw touched the cloth, feeling the texture. It was really soft. He then picked up the kunai, which appeared to be some form of special design, different from the average kunai that was for sure. He closed the box and followed Luo. He had no idea how to wear the mess of cloth, though he was sure it was the most expensive thing that he owned. exit
