Himura stopped admiring his blade to look back to masaki, nodding at his choice of weapon. "Those are called Tonfas. Excellent for deflecting blows and delivering counters, though they have an unorthodox grip." The old shinobi said, pondering the boy's choice. I see, not one for killing. With his forward nature, I thought he might take the trench knife or the warhammer, but the tonfa... In response to Masaki's choice, Himura took a pair of weathered metal tonfas for himself, sheathing his sword and attaching it to the left side of his waist. Finally, for good measure, Himura grabbed one more sword: A wooden Bokuto, the same length as his katana, and attached it just above the real sword.
"If that is what you want, take it, and follow me. We won't be training here." Himura said as he began to exit the storeroom. As the two exited the compound, the sentry gave a low bow and resumed his post.

(A 4 foot tonfa? That would extend beyond your shoulders, probably even beyond your head, when wielding it properly. The standard tonfa is about 3/4 arm length)
