Have any of you used SlimQuick before? What was your experience with it (pros and cons please!)?

I've read up on it online and there are very mixed opinions of the product both for and against it. Despite this I've decided to go for it and give it a try as a diet aid -- mostly for the appetite suppressant part. I'm on day 3 of using it today (1/27) and so far it seems to be helping. I no longer feel snacky during the day at work or most of the evening after dinner.

Thanks in advance for your input! 3nodding

Anything that's a stimulant I would shy away from. Think of it like this. Your metabolism is at a certain level. May not be where you want it. So people take things, meds and whatnot to change it. When someone's tired, they drink coffee. The caffeine boosts everything. And how does your body react? Decides it doesn't like where it is and metabolism drops. Then you crash. Now your metabolism is even lower than before.

The site isn't very informative. Doesn't say how it does anything. What it does say is the product has vitamins. Great. So does a cheap multivitamin.

I keep reading "contains ingredients" but they don't mention what. Must say, if the site doesn't want to come forth and say what is in the product then why should I put that in my body? And so they have research done. Well, I want to read that. See if it's a good study or not.

Of course, you need to do what is best for you but personally I wouldn't use this product. Mind you, I'm all about losing weight naturally without medical aid. 3nodding

I chalk up avoiding stimulants on my list of things that I think will keep me healthy.

Look at it this way, do you want to be paying slimquick money for the rest of your life? If using an aid is the only way you can lose weight, you should resign yourself to that.

Take the money you'd spend on a month/two months or whatever time it takes to get a decent chunk of cash, buy some healthy cookbooks and a book on nutrition. Make sure they aren't 'weight loss' cook books and 'weight loss nutrition' consult with a dietitian/doctor about it and avoid it if it has claims about weight loss in the title or first few pages. Remember that the diet industry makes a LOT of money off people who try these things. They have NO reason to want you to succeed, your return business is what they're counting on.

I agree with Sera and Kayura. Anything that isn't forward about it's ingredients and tells you exactly how the product works, I'm against it. I don't trust supplements. Diet and exercise is how we were meant to lose the weight. This is just another ploy to make someone some money. D:

Sorry.

Really? I never knew that caffeine had an affect on your metabolism. Do you know of any websites where I could read up on that?

I know the website isn't very informative, unfortunately. sweatdrop I was using it more so that people who had never heard of the product or were only semi-familiar could at least know what I was talking about a little. There are more websites out there with better information on it, including the ingredients. The ingredients are on the package as well.

Normally I do avoid caffeine (and other stimulants).

I know it's not a magic weight loss pill. I'm not intending to use this for the rest of my life, and as I mentioned initially, I was looking to use it for the appetite suppressant aspect. I'm using it as a last resort of sorts. I have been trying to lose weight for several years now, but one of my biggest issues is the fact that I constantly crave food, especially sweets. I know it's not because I'm actually thirsty and I know it's not because I'm actually hungry, but at the same time I don't know how to stop it. I've tried convincing myself that I have the will power not to eat, but it's just not working.

I'm actually in the middle of switching doctors. Not happy with my current physician. I told him I wanted to lose weight and that I wanted to talk to a nutritionist so I could do it correctly and he kept trying to push gastric bypass surgery. I told him I don't want the surgery and he instantly wasn't concerned with my weight. Told me good luck on losing it on my own and that in his experience people who try to lose it without the surgery never keep it off. Never referred me to a nutritionist. stressed

You're probably mostly right, but I just don't know what else to do. I lose ten pounds and gain back 30. I guess I'm just at a loss and thought an appetite suppressant would at least help me with my eating so that I could work on and focus more on exercising.

Does anyone know of any other appetite suppressants that might be healthier/more trustworthy that I could look at?

That's written nicely. The part they discuss about insulin I'd forgotten about. Anything that messes with insulin is something I'd avoid. With being overweight, the risk of diabetes increases. Messing with insulin can't help.

The ingredients may be on the package but on the website is where they can flaunt the benefits and they don't. They flaunt what the product does without any proof or information as to how. That makes me suspicious.

Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? Fiber helps the body retain that full feeling.

I get cravings too, for chocolate and cookies mostly. I find ways to cheat. Get a healthy sort of food with a hint of chocolate. And I calorie count. If it has too many calories, I deny myself. Does it suck? Yep. But when I resist something I shouldn't have, there's a degree of satisfaction to it. If you need chocolate, buy single servings of various snacks. I got a bag of tiny candy bars. If I REALLY need chocolate, have one. And I only let myself eat if I am hungry. Otherwise it is just for comfort and that's a horrible habit.

You can google stimulant use and metabolism and find several things to read on as well.

That's upsetting that your doctor is pushing something that is more or less proven not to work in the long run and has an extremely dangerous recovery period. You can actually look up nutritionists and dietitians in your area and tell them about your problem, and you could also phone your hospital and see if they could refer you.

Change your doctor.

The only book on nutrition that I have read is a book on vegan nutrition. It's fabulous but no one ever likes a vegan book being suggested to them, which is why I suggested talking to a nutrition. You could probably phone around to your hospital and ask for nutrition book recommendations from them. (though that might not work so well)

My point with this is that if you need this kind of help to lose weight, you *will* be using it for the rest of your life. When you go off it, (if it helps at all) you will start gaining your weight back.

If you still think it's the best idea, by all means give it a try.

Yeah, I tried it and it sucks massively. Didn't do a thing and was expensive. Don't bother. It's just diet and exercise to lose weight, that's it. Try healthier snacks when you're that hungry or very controlled portions so that you can eat something without overindulging.

And food mrgreen

What have you tried so far to avoid the snacking and over eating/cravings? (sorry if you have a journal that outlines this, i havent checked the journals lately). Sometimes, when i have a strong craving, I wait 5 mins. Anyone can wait 5 mins for just about anything. If its still there, I have a small amount of what I'm craving. Sometimes i plan this ahead of time, e.g. I know I will be tired on friday, so if I have been on plan all week I can have some chocolate (or something else I have been craving in the week). When its planned I feel like I earnt it, but I dont tend to splurge (1 square of chocolate has less chance of turning into 20, because then it stops feeling "good" and starts to feel more like "omg why did i do that to myself, I am a terrible person crying )

Hope this helps sweatdrop
