 Hiou walked quickly into the cabin. Although the rain felt good on her skin, she was cold and still a little shaken from their night's adventures. Also, the thought of having a run-in with another lycan didn't really appeal to her at the moment. She somehow doubted the rest of them were like Rahne.
Water dripped from Hiou's hair and clothes as she stood on the wooden ground. She was soaked, but at least it was a little warmer inside. Wrapping her arms around herself, she tried to conserve as little body heat as her kind had. Though Bloods were colder to the touch than a human, they weren't quite made of ice, even if some acted as though their hearts were made of such.
Suddenly unsure of what to do, Hiou stood awkwardly in the middle of the room, waiting for Rahne to join her inside and tell her where she would sleep for what remained of the night.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth... Rahne followed Hiou in the cabin, pulling the door behind him. Once the rain had stopped falling on him he shook his head, flinging the water off in all directions like a dog after a bath. His eyes then fell on the young vampire and frowned, she was soaked to the bone and looked freezing. He scurried off to what seemed to be a small closet, rustling around for a good minute before an "Aha!" Broke through the silence that hung between them. He had found an old long shirt and a few rags they could use to dry themselves off. he handed the long shirt and one of the larger rags to Hiou. "the shirt isn't much of an improvement, but at least it's dry. I'll hang our clothes up so by tomorrow night they should be dry again," After giving her something to dry off with and change into he seemed kind of flustered before walking away. He turned facing away from her, awkwardly staring at the wall. "Just, uh.. Tell me when you've changed," He said, fidgeting slightly. "You have my word I won't look."
Rahne continued to stare at the opposite wall, with his back to Hiou as he shook off a chill that ran down his spine. The cold rarely ever bothered him, lycans ran warm, but being soaked from head to toe did have its effects.

Hiou stared at the shirt for a second. Other than the rags she was wearing, which had been adjusted over the years to accommodate her growth, she had never been given clothes. Especially ones as nice as these. "N-No, I c-couldn't possibly," she stammered, the cold making her teeth chatter. "I am certain your life is far more important than mine. You should be the one changing into dry clothes."
He had his back to her, allowing her gaze to travel over the well-defined muscles without being caught. He fidgeted as he stood there, making her smile. It was rather cute, really. Endearing. For whatever reason, he really did seem to care for her.
Using one of the rags Rahne had given her, she dried off the water from her face and neck, then moved to dry the rest of her exposed skin.
Trying not to gasp as she touched his back gently, Hiou held the shirt in front of his face for him to wear.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth...A frown tugged at the corner of Rahne's lips as she held the shirt in front of him. He reached up, his hand meeting hers, pushing the shirt back towards her. "I don't need it." he told her, his eyes lingering on her face. Her hand was colder than he had expected, sending another chill up his arm. Reluctant to let go he pulled his wet shirt off over his head, revealing his bare chest and stomach. He was toned, but not overly muscular like most lycans his age. He didn't feel the need to exude his strength with sculpted abs and bulging biceps. His skin was almost flawless, besides the long jagged scar that ran along the right side of his torso. Drying himself off he smiled at Hiou slightly. "See, I don't need it."

Hiou was surprised by how warm his hand was on hers. And even more surprised that he would show that much skin in front of her as he removed his saturated shirt. Her eyes fell to a scar that marked his perfect body. Before she realized what she was doing, she traced her finger lightly over the mark, a look of confusion crossing her face. "What is the cause of this?" she asked Rahne, looking up into his eyes. It wasn't until then that she realized what she had done.
Jumping back, she quickly apologized and turned around, suddenly not as cold as before. His body heat had penetrated her skin, making her feel almost at her normal temperature.
Hiou looked over her shoulder to see him still looking at her. Biting her lip shyly, she asked, "If you are sure you do not need this, could you please turn back around while I change?" Her body facing the opposite wall, she began to lift the bottom of her dress to pull it over her head.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth...Hiou's cold touch made his skin tingle along the old scar. His eyes followed her hand before she jumped back abruptly, startling him. Comforting words were ready to flow from his lips before she abruptly changed the subject again. Giving him no time to answer her question or tell her the apology was unnecessary. When she began to change, not waiting for him to turn around first, he hesitated for a moment, his eyes lingering on the curves of her body before he shook such thoughts from his head, turning around quickly as he waited for her to change.

Had she been human, Hiou was sure her face would be bright red right now from her actions. Her fingertip still tingled from the feel of his skin, and there for a second, she closed her eyes to relish the memory of his skin under hers. She had never touched a man before. Never even felt the skin of another that wasn't intended as a painful slap.
Pulling the soaking dress over her head, Hiou set it gently on the floor by her feet, then reached for the dry shirt. Pulling it over her head, she found her fingertips barely poked out the bottom of the long sleeves. Her fingertips brushed the high neck, marveling at its softness. Twirling in happiness, she ran over to rain, a huge, childish grin on her face. "Thank you so much!" she exclaimed excitedly. Granted, the shirt was very short, just barely covering her butt. But she didn't care. It was the only gift she had ever received, and she planned to cherish it always.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth...Rahne couldn't help bust smile at how excited Hiou was about the clothes. A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he walked over and picked up the wet dress off of the floor. He took it and his shirt and hung them over the counter in the cabin's small kitchen area. "The shirt is only temporary." He said over his shoulder, it was really just something he had found in the cabin's closet with the rags, but he didn't want to dampen her excitement. "Tomorrow night I'll take you into town and get you some real clothes, so you'll have to rise early." He told her as he went back to the closet, grabbing a blanket he had seen earlier and laying it out on the floor next to the bed. "There are only a few more hours before sunrise." He finished sitting on the blanket with his back against the wall. He stretched out, a small yawn escaping his lips before his eyes fell back on Hiou. He motioned for her to take the bed, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips, glad to have his new companion. It was a nice change from the monotony of pack life.

"Oh, no, I couldn't possibly ask for something as extravagant as new clothes. It would be too much, and I am not worth it," Hiou said, glancing down at the shirt that was starting to dampen where her hair rested on it. Lifting her hair from her neck, she squeezed it tightly, trying to ring as much water from it as she could.
She watched as Rahne lay a blanket on the floor, thinking it was meant for her. She was taken aback when he sat on it and motioned for her to take the bed. "Please, I would never dream of sleeping on something as comfortable as a bed. You should sleep there. As you said, we only have a few hours until sunrise, and you will need your strength. I do not want to damper your abilities." Hiou stood next to his makeshift bed, waiting for him to move to the bed.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth...Rahne frowned as Hiou refused to let him buy her clothes. He sat there for a minute, shocked at how little the Blood thought of herself before speaking again. "As a man, and nothing more, my conscience would not let me rest if I had you sleeping on the floor," He told her, his words final. There was no changing his mind. Rahne respected females, it was programmed in his brain before he was ever turned and nothing, not even time would change that. "And as for clothes, I'm going into town tomorrow and buying some. You can either wear them and help me pick something you like or let me waste my money." Rahne laid back and closed his eyes, a satisfied smirk playing on his lips.

Hiou stared at Rahne's smirk with an incredulous look on her face. He was just so stubborn. But, not one to argue, she sat down gently on the bed. Though she had been on it earlier, she hadn't really taken the time to enjoy the way its softness cushioned her body like a cloud. Sure, it probably wasn't the nicest bed out there, but it was the most comfortable thing she had ever slept on, and she was sure that for the first time in her life, she would sleep well and through the day.
Pulling back the thick blanket that covered it, also another new thing to Hiou, she slid between it and the bed, then pulled it up to her chin. Fanning her hair out so it would dry easier, she whispered a soft good night to Rahne, and just lay there for a while, listening to his soft breathing. Due to the day's adventures and the security she felt now, it wasn't long before she was fast asleep.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth...Rahne smiled and closed his eyes, pleased with himself when Hiou didn't argue any further. He sat there for some time, lost in his thoughts and worries. There were tales that the Vampires and Goblins had an alliance, that they planned to overthrow the other races and take control of whats left of this earth. The thought caused Rahne to frown as he glanced up at Hiou. The sun had started to come out, he could hear the songbirds as they awoke from their nighttime slumber and with the last few notes of their songs, Rahne drifted to sleep, letting his worries fade into the coming night.

 Hiou blinked her eyes open and groggily sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from her bright blue eyes. Squinting, her gaze landed on the covered window, where she had heard the noise coming from. Whatever it was, it was beautiful. She had never before heard anything like it. Curious at whatever was creating the beautiful harmony, Hiou swung her legs over the side of the bed, careful not to hit Rahne's sleeping body. Padding lightly over to the window, Hiou gently pulled the makeshift curtain back.
Her scream rent the air, piercing her own eardrums and momentarily deafening her.
Tears formed in her eyes as she fell back on the floor, the tarp swinging silently back into place, again blocking the sun from entering the little home. Hiou brought her burning hand to her face, looking at the damage done. Thankfully the sunlight had only touched her hand for a second, so the damage was not as bad as it could have been. But a large blister was beginning to form on the back of it, and it looked as though she had a severe sunburn where the light had landed on her skin.
Old memories surged through her mind of a time when something similar had happened when she was only a child. She sat there, motionless except for the fierce trembling that shook her body violently where she sat.

I had the taste of Blood and C h o c o l a t e in my mouth...Rahne jumped up at the sound of the scream, claws extended and ready to strike and whatever unknown terror was causing Hiou to make such a noise. Glancing around quickly he shook his head a few times as if to shake off the temporary deafness Hiou had caused his very sensitive ears. Soon Rahne relaxed slightly, realizing there was nothing else in the cabin with them. Getting to his feet he went to Hiou, instinctively wrapping a protective arm around her as he glanced around nervously for the unknown intruder. "What's wrong?" he asked, his concern apparent as his eyes fell onto her trembling hand. "What happened!?"
