Welcome to A City for the Taking.[RP]!I would like to direct your attention to a few things before you begin: 1. I have placed the rules on this page as well as here. So please take a look at those before we begin, we will be sticking to them, savvy? 2. We don't want to clutter our RP so to talk about it please go to The Mafia Prince [RP]. 3. We have a wonderful character artist with reasonable prices in The Butterfly Hit List. 4. Its not in the rules but we request that your posts are no shorter then 5 sentences. We like... no, we love detail, and if your character has nothing more to do then a one line post, please wait til there is something else they can do and post then instead. 6. Character profiles can be found right here. 5. If something in your post doesn't make sense, we may change it around, or ask you to do so. Mind you, we won't change your actions or what you make your character say, just change a few words and letters for clarification. 6. Have fun. Because that's what this is about.--------------------------------------------------------- RP Rules: 1. Literacy is expected. 2. Keep everything PG 13 or under. 3. No emoticons. 4. No links to pictures. 5. Don’t quote in your post. 6. Use italics for thoughts. 7. Use “quotes” and bold text when talking. 8. Spell out your words. [If you don’t know how to spell something: 1. Use the spell check available to you in Word. Or [if for some reason #1 won’t work] 2. Put [sp?] next to it.] 9. Do not type another persons lines. 10. Do not make any extreme decisions [i.e. killing someone’s character or injuring a person's character] without gaining approval first. 11. Use complete sentences. 12. Ask for help if you need it. 13. Post any and all talk related to the RP in the Rendezvous SUBFORUM. [this is for clarifications, questions, comments; anything of that sort. We don’t want to clutter the RP with banter] 14. It is preffered that you type in small font, size 9, especially when posting long paragraphs. 15. No spaming pictures or page stretching. 16. Post at least twice a week, and know that the RP may move on without you around. 17. Please remove your signature when you post. Thanks. 18. Colors:Last time we had people starting to write in colors. And to avoid confusion, you will have to stick to the colors that you were using in the first RP. If you are new, you will have to find a color no one has. Once you find the color, please let me know which it is.Kyrin: Indigo Nori: Hotpink Jaydn: #3399FF Xavier: #FF0066 Maddox: Blue Miles: Orchid Charles: Dark Cyan Riley: #339966 Caiden: #996666 Caiden+Riley: Brown Jason: Dark Red Katzchen: Black Jun: Orange
Remember: Your color CAN be an HTML code number. [Supplied chart: Here ] If you pick one of these, you need to write it like this ---> [ color= # (Insert your numbers here) ] [ /color ] .
Without the spaces, of course. If it doesnt make sense like that, then send me the number you want and I will do it for you the first time so you can see it. Please don't pick a color that is going to blind us to read, or that is going to be too light against white, savvy? biggrin Colors for Different Languages:Since a lot of us have characters that speak other languages, when you character speaks in a certain language, I would like you to place that part of their speech in the corresponding color, and very importantly, I want it in ENGLISH. Also, I dont want everyone going around having their character suddenly speaking a different language a whole lot, so let's keep it to a minimum please. I will add new colors for languages when I see fit, or when they are going to be used. Please don't pick your own color, I am trying to keep them a certain way. Thank you.Japanese: Gray German: Tan Russian: purple French: #33FF66 Spanish: #CC6699

Wiping sweat from her brow, Kyrin sheathed her katana and switched off the music that played loudly throughout the room. To ease her stress, she’d been visiting the practice rooms on her spare time. Training had a claiming affect on her. Unfortunately, none of Jaydn’s men, save for maybe Miles, would get into the fighting ring with her and go at it hand to hand. That sort of training she’d get more out of, but it was hard to talk anyone into fighting with her. She’d even asked Xavier before; he’d said yes but then had made himself scare, claiming to be overly busy. With a sigh, Kyrin threw a sweat shirt on over her workout clothes and made her way to shower. It was eight in the morning. It had been two days since Jaydn had called and, as told, Maddox had returned to the city the quickest that he was able. Ky had been thrilled to see him; she hadn’t realized how much she’d missed him. However, she saved all questions about Japan and what had called them away until later, knowing that he was be overly tired and trying to right his body to the time change. Over the past two days, Kryin and her crew had been gaining as much information as they could, but they kept coming up with dead ends and leads that made no sense. When something finally came to their attention that they could comprehend, they followed the lead. It was Jun that closed the case for them, through his research and with the help of the Flynn brothers. Strangely, and much to Kyrin’s irritation, it seemed that their guy who’d been shot was not linked to the other killing at all. It had simply been an unfortunate misunderstanding that appeared to carry some of the same similarities as the other deaths had. It was this information that had Kryin up so early, since Jun had informed her only hours prior. Having been awake since four, Kyrin was already a little cranky. The shower was just what she needed. The water washed the irritation from her body and she dressed with a new outlook. It would be a good day with the case closed. Not only had Jun figured it out, but the Flynn brothers had proven to be useful. Maybe it would earn her some points with Jaydn, since she was the one who had found them in the first place. Dressing in a fitted black dress pants and a light blue button up shirt, Kyrin dried her hair and slipped on her suit jacket and heels. She headed for Miles’ office to inform him of the events the occurred that morning and then she would see if her cousin was up to having a discussion.

The blinds swayed gently by the open window, suspended by a grey breeze that held all the crispness of late autumn. It wasn't cold enough to have a closed window; No, not by Miles' standards. He felt that he needed the air anyways; always working himself into a tangled network of passing and gathering information. Usually he would be enjoying himself, but the charm of it had been tarnished by the lack of control he had had with the previous situation. Things had slowly returned to normal of course, and Maddox had come back from Japan. There was a strange pull of anxiousness between everything however; it was a relief that things were slowing down, but at the same time, it was not nearly as fun as it had been. Miles was already trying to scheme of ways to keep himself entertained within the company; ways to step things up and throttle more control. He stood on the phone now, gazing down at the peons below, not speaking with anyone particularly important. It was his aunt, one of the few family members he still kept in contact with, expressing wishes for him to go to one his many cousin's weddings, which of course he would would not go to unless there was a gun to his head. Go to godforsaken Russia for some people he never met before? Even if he didn't have a life devoted to Jaydn's mafia, he still would have found a reason to stay away from his family unless his own uncle's Mafia was involved. He was politely telling her in that he couldn't speak much longer, when he noticed the door of his office open to reveal Kyrin. He held he gaze for a moment before turning away. She probably wouldn't mind that he was talking to family, but it still felt slightly unprofessional. "I'm sorry Shura, I really do have to end this call. " "Whaaat?" she mock whined."What's more important than speaking with your dear aunt? Unless you're just saying that as an excuse because a beautiful woman just walked by." Miles gave the smallest hint of a laugh. He heard his aunt laugh as well before adding "I knew it!" and ending the call. Shaking his head slightly, Miles pocketed the phone and leaned backwards onto his desk, arms crossed, and eyed Kyrin as if nothing had just happened. " Yes, Boss?" he asked, half meaning to toy with her.

Kyrin could hear a woman’s voice as she entered the room, but thought nothing of it as he finished his conversation. Closing the door behind her, she smiled at his playful jab. ”You’re fired.” She said with splayed hands, ”Sorry. Feel free to take it up with me later tonight though and we can see about getting you rehired.” Being as busy as they had, Kyrin and Miles hadn’t had much time to see each other outside of their busy schedules and with the recent turn of events, Kyrin was looking forward to spending some time with him. Walking over and sitting in one of the chairs in front of his desk she became less playful, ”I actually came with some news. Jun and the Flynn brothers have managed to close the case for us. It turns out that our man’s death had no connection what so ever to the others.” She sighed, ”I’d venture to say that it was a cause for celebration, but since one of my cousin’s men is dead, I suppose that he will have a problem seeing the light in the situation. Of course Molly still is talking with the family, so we are not quite out of the woods yet, but I am happy to have the information that we have been seeking.” Crossing one leg over the other, she continued, ”On another note, how have things been progressing with Mr. Ortega? Any new developments?”

Miles didn't roll his eyes as much as fix a disbelieving stare to accompany his smirk. It was so easy to tease her, and she always had to have a word in to bite back. As Kyrin moved into business matters, only his face moved with various slight expressions as he listened. It was as they thought; Leo's death had done nothing but stir up unnecessary trouble. Miles figured that the guy was better off dead if he was such an idiot, but he didn't know if Jaydn would see it the same way. The subject of Ortega was one he hadn't been able to think about too much in a while. It was just another ebbing wave of thought that he got to pull to the forefront again. Miles gave the inkling of a shrug. " As for news, there's nothing to say. I have an appointment with him coming up, but I don't know how soon he'd be willing to get in with everything. He has this...slight desperation. But at the same time, he's reluctant. Nothing that can't be handled, I'm sure. " He looked away to rummage for a smoke.

Kyrin's eyes followed his motions, watching him light up, as per usual. The cigarette never seemed out of place with Miles; if anything it perhaps added to his charm. Gazing out the window, she became thoughtful. There hadn't been anything new with Ortega since he'd sent her the papers the first time. Contact needed to re-initiated and it appeared that Miles was on it. Turning back to him, she said, "Yes, I am sure that he can be swayed and without too much resistance if the offer is right." She smiled slowly as she continued, "Shall I accompany you to this meeting?" With Maddox back in the picture, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to have both Kyrin and Miles out out of the building. It was also be a great opportunity for a breath of fresh air after being cooped up.
