So what I'm wondering is what kind of pokemon would you have that would make a really good team for battles.
I recently got Platinum so keeping up with the times can be a little tricky, but heres a few ideas
Dusknoir- for it's high defense and Sp. Def. possibly holding a shell bell for some HP recovery. Will 'O' wisp Curse Night Shade Confuse ray
Rhyperior- for it's brutal attack and great def. Earthquake Rock wrecker Hammer arm Explosion
Snorlax for high HP and attack. holding Chesto berry Rest Body slam Giga impact Last resort
Weaville- High attack and speed. holding scope lens Night slash Ice punch Sword's dance Avalanche
I'm still working on filling the last slots but there are a few examples of my idea of a good party.

unless the foe uses mach punch or such on agaisnt your weavile, avalanche isnt useful at all
and pretty much they'd use Mach punch, and due to low defenses if you suvived that blow you'd be lucky
also go leftover for your dusknoir: in the competitive sides, the dusknoir's level is your night shade's damage maount (max of 100 hp set damage) however msot people fight at lv 50 rules, reducing it's use and shell bell's use (like 1/16 of the damge you inflct you recover, mind i dont know exactly) also noteworthy is that it wouldnt be useful if a normal type came out so leftovers is better for dusknoir
also you need a special attacker, as for which one, well i dunno
(and btw a slight little opinion: a dream team isnt meant to be competition based but rather to be a team of pokemon you like because you like them, like my team of Scizor, Blaziken, Gallade, and Jirachi, all good pokemon yeah, but their MS's suck, save for jirachi)

Hmm you got a point with avalanche so I might go with Nasty Plot instead. As for special attacker, exactly the reason I left that out being the possibilities that they're so many good special attackers such as my Alakazam with nearly 400 sp. attack(I'm guessing I got real lucky with the IVs) and 320 speed. Maybe one of the 3 dragons with Draco Meteor. Decisions decisions *insert evil laugh here*

Decisions decisions *insert evil laugh here* Uh..nasty plot is even more useless, Weavile is centered aroudn physical and fast attacks nasty plot increase special attack and if your alakazam has nearly or 400+ SP atk with that speed, USE HIM! and draco meteor is moreso a all-around ending move endign move ie in a three-on-three you've both gone down to one pokemon, use draco meteor as the last move, it should, if yo did things right, Ko and give you a win, if not, good luck as for weavil: i'd say teach it metal claw, weaker move power-wise yeah, but steel comes in handy at times and has a 10% chance of increasing you ATK, so it's pretty useful if you use it accordingly

Nasty plot raises sp. attack, my bad. I thought it raised speed sweatdrop so I'm scratching that and going with your advice on using Metal claw.

I'm not really a strategy user unless im using a shuckle , or something along the lines of him but if you were to ask me i think you should probably get a slaking , even though they have the ability "Truant" they still pack a punch x2

Cerina Uchiha I'm not really a strategy user unless im using a shuckle , or something along the lines of him but if you were to ask me i think you should probably get a slaking , even though they have the ability "Truant" they still pack a punch x2 Shuckle + power trick + Rollout = Ouch. Granted, it's defense will greatly suffer but theres ways around that. This works only for double battles and the like but have a pokemon that knows gastro acid and use it on Slaking which kills off the truant ability.

Aww Heck (and btw a slight little opinion: a dream team isnt meant to be competition based but rather to be a team of pokemon you like because you like them, like my team of Scizor, Blaziken, Gallade, and Jirachi, all good pokemon yeah, but their MS's suck, save for jirachi) I agree with you on that. My "Dream Team" is FAR from perfect. It has the biggest most obvious vulnerability to dark and ghoust types but I honestly don't care much about it. But dispote the HUGE gap, my team's never let me doun so far.

despite being normal typed, and having Truant, slaking's HP and atacvk more than make up for being dullwitted every other turn
his HP can max at a whopping 504 and samtimely with adamant nature and 31IV/252/EV his ATK can max at 460
so to have a slaking with max EVed/IVs HP and Max IVS/EVed Atk is perfectly possible, making one massively strong "slothrilla"
of course if palying competetively, let him know Yawn or thunderpunch (but not both) Hammer arm is good to, very very good, and faint attack is another good option
Substitute is also very good if you use leftovers with him, really a deadly but dense pokemon, aww heck i've gotta go train one
mine is gonna be: adamant leftovers Yawn Hammer Arm Faint Attack Substitute (objective, yawn first, then wiat, then substitute, then use either hammer arm of faint attack according to situation, resubsituting when needed)
