Writing is nothing new for me. It just hasn't become a major part in my artistic pursuits until now. I remember tackling my first story in elementary school with a story about haunted stairs. I didn't write anything again until high school when I dived into the world of fanfiction. I wrote two incomplete stories during that time. I graduated in 2003 and I wouldn't write again until 2004 when I joined up with friends in writing a book. It was exciting and new. I loved the premise of using characters that were born with the spirits of animal totems possessing them. They were called Therians. It was a research heavy project but I didn't mind as I learned quite a bit about several subjects. I was proud, and still am, of my twin characters that were both fox totems. It's a shame they've been laid to rest as I produced some of my best works with them for inspiration. I don't believe in resurrecting characters. Everything I wrote for this story was deleted when the group crumbled. I have since moved onto my own project that I am hoping to see become something tangible one day.

The first novel-length project I every completed to my satisfaction was a fanfic. It was a twisted little Law & Order: CI and SVU crossover involving magic, witches, curses, and an incubus. Lots of fun, lol.
I love the idea of animal totems. I have one series that I've never gotten around to writing that involves totems, but in a different way. Therians are what I should have called my were-creatures, because they're much more like that than like the standard werewolf mythos. Although I do explain that the terminology comes from my werewolves being the basis for the mythical werewolf, only twisted by lies and legend.
And I'm just the exact opposite--I recycle characters, settings, plots, everything. If I've spent any time working on something, even if it fails, I want to take what I can from it to use in my next project. Though I can understand wanting a fresh start.

XD Do you still have that fanfic up anywhere? I'd love to read it! Quote: And I'm just the exact opposite--I recycle characters, settings, plots, everything. In fact, my current project is made up to two completely different stories I had. I took characters and settings out of both of them and mushed them all together to create something awesome. XD

I've played with the idea of doing something animal totems again at some point. If I do then I may consider breaking my own rule and resurrect an old character who was an arctic fox. He was one of my best characters.
