Have a writer illness?
  Of course, don't we all?
  Nope, I'm just amazing.
Occasionally... My writer's immune system takes care of it pretty quick though.

That would probably work for me too, but my work hours are pretty crazy some weeks. I'm also more of a night person but they have me starting work at 4-6am, so I usually only wake up early enough to get ready and go. I think if my job would get me on a set schedule, a lot of my problems would be fixed.

Does anyone have an issue with not being able to write if there is someone reading over your shoulder???

I can't write when people are in the same room as me.. unless I have my little notepad, hiding while I write sweatdrop it's sad

Ah, with the cashiering job I've been on night shifts for the longest time.. now I'm on days @.o being flip-flopped definitely messes with the mind.. Sad as it is the last couple weeks only having one day with huge gaps in between (only work sat) it's given me the time to write a lot.. getting into the groove then riding it all day and night

Me tinks my fatel writing illness is not just writers block, but also what I call writers depression. I get it a lot, when I just don't feel like writing anything happy or nice and a fic I started off well goes downhill because I start putting torture and other things into it. e.e I have yet to find a cure for it.

Mine is plot. I'm pretty great at making characters, back stories, and really complex settings, but when it comes to plot... everybody's just cool and hangs out. And its really not that interesting.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with that.

You can get over it, but it takes knowing the person reading over your shoulder is not going to criticize your work under any circumstances.

Myself, I seem to suffer from lack of motivation, forgetting the right piece of technology at the wrong point in time and injuries to .. primarily my right wrist, thus giving me a perfect excuse not to continue.

The deadly "too lazy to write out the already-planned story" disease. xd
That and procrastination. D:
And a little bit of "making lousy main characters" disease. It pops up quite often. I just can't bring myself to be interested in what my main character is doing.

My writing illness is my laziness. It's a sad fact, but I've come to accept its existence. I know what I want to write, but I have no motivation to actually get up and type/hand-write it. It frustrates me. Sometimes I can overcome it, sometimes I can't. I seem to be more energized and excited to write when I have school, but homework minimizes what time I have >.> I also tend to reread and rewrite too much when I finally get something done. Keeps me from moving forward. But writing when I know others are writing at the same moment is fun ^^ You know, those periods when you see how much you can write? Those pump me up a lot, but I can't seem to find anyone willing to do it D:

Argh, curse you laziness! (but what would we do without it?)

Bring on your torture, your bullets, your pains

My writing insanities:

I can't write in silence. I need background noise.

I Can't hold still. I have to get up and run somewhere.

I have to have a glass of something next to me. I can't write with out a drink.

I have to talk out the conversations to make sure they would actually flow that way.

And in my heart, things aren't the same.

I can't work with anyone else in the room either. It's strange, because I don't know why I do this. I take a lot of pride in my work, and normally don't have problems with people reading it. Maybe it's because I get up every ten minutes to go walk in a circle then come back...

And in my heart, things aren't the same.

Writing in my head about what happens at the end when I'm still writing the beginning. And then taking forever to write the story because I'm so busy thinking about what I will write at the end.

I don't like writing 'just for the heck of it'. There are about four very specific stories that have been rolling around in my head for about three years, and if my writing is not related to any of those, I quickly lose motivation cause I don't know why I'm writing it.
I must have a good reason to be writing. A contest is a very good reason. wink
