"Stupid brother... Should be able t' go out too..." Azrael grumbled, stomping through the snow and into the nearby forest. Cody had gotten into trouble earlier and thus a reason why he didn't think anyone would really notice his absence. Besides, he had told Aenira where he was going so someone at least knew where he was.

Walking through the trees, the toddler kicked at the small piles of snow and barely registered where he had gone at all... That is, until a small stone building came into view not too far from him in a nearby clearing.

"What the...?" Bright orange eyes darted about, growing wide with surprise at what lay around him. Old tombstones lay crumbling at his feet with mangled statues looming overhead. Needless to say, the toddler was spooked. Even more so when he saw bones laying around. A sharp cawing tore through the air, the little pumpkin demon jumping several feet into the air.

Moments later, the stone door to the morgue slammed shut. Well, if that wasn't the most childish thing he had done, Azrael hadn't a clue what was. He was pretty sure his girly scream and frantic running had been heard and seen by someone else. Ooh, the demon could just feel his ego deflating by the vicious wound.

"Where... where am I?" Azrael softly wondered aloud, looking around at the place. It was small-ish, with a stairwell in the corner and little niches everywhere. Coffins, both open and closed, resided both in them and on the floor. Crap, more dead spooky things. All at once, the little pumpkin demon was regretting leaving home.

It wasn't uncommon for Cristophe to be out at a cemetery at night...even if the cemetery in question was in the middle of the woods. He'd been in stranger places for crime scenes and to him, a cemetery was a cemetery was a cemetery. The client that had contacted him was interested in raising some relatives she believed to be buried here and he'd accepted...though it had been a bit short-notice so finding a babysitter had been out of the question.

Thus, he'd brought Todd, though he'd tethered the boy to a small tree before he started the raising. That wasn't child abuse, right? He just didn't need the kid accidentally nibbling at the client or crashing through the circle because he smelled chicken blood or anything. Cris wasn't sure what the presence of a living zombie like Todd would do to a raising...but he didn't want to find out either.

Of course, Todd had other plans. Plans that did not involve being tied to a tree. He was bored. Bored, bored, bored! So, while his guardian was distracted with...something, Todd had set to work and chewed through the leash that was holding him to the tree. After that, he'd toddled off arbitrarily, nose to the air and ears straining to hear. At some point he'd come across the mausoleum, hands caressing the warn and weathered stone sides. It hadn't taken him to long to find his way to the front. He wandered in and wobbled about blindly, still sniffing and feeling about...until he tripped over a stray bone and landed flat on his face.

It was there he was laying when the other boy wandered in and had the large door slam shut behind him. He lifted his head at the shriek, looking around blindly, sniffing the air. Person. Oh, he smelled a person. He pushed himself upright and stood up, trying to figure out where the new person was.

"Heggo?" he called. "Heggo heggo! Who there? Where you be?"

Azrael jumped, quickly evading the outstretched hands as the creature before him stumbled blindly toward him. He froze when he finally noticed what exactly had spoken. It... it looked like a zombie... Woah. "What?" he questioned, frowning as he tried to decipher what exactly it had asked.

It looked more like a kid with pale skin and was blind than anything else. Pausing in his dodging, he allowed the kid to reach him and feel his arm. "Uh... I'm Azrael an' I'm right here. Who you?" he asked, speaking slowly. Well, whoever it was that was right in front of him, they were certainly interesting. The little demon hadn't seen a person who was blind before, though Cody said he knew someone who was.

"Why you in 'ere?" Azrael questioned curiously. Was someone raising the dead or something? And why hadn't he heard about it earlier?

Todd ambled clumsily towards the other boy, detecting more by smell than by sound. He took the offered arm readily, snuffling and sniffing at the other but thankfully not biting. Cris was smart enough, at least, to keep the boy well fed whenever he was hauling him out into public for any reason. It helped prevent 'biting' accidents though it wasn't foolproof- especially in the presence of blood or fresh meat.

"I's Todd!" he said, turning sightless eyes up to the other. "I's glad t' meet you, Azwael!" he said. Despite being a zombie, he was fairly outgoing, more or less.

As to the question about why he was in here, he canted his head. Why? Why not? He'd been bored, sitting around when daddy had been doing things and chanting things.

"I was bored. Da's workin' an' I didn' wanna sit so I went 'splorin'." he said plainly.

Azrael grinned, wagging his tail happily. So he wasn't the only weird one out in a cemetery out of sheer boredom. "I see. I was bored an' went explorin' 'round the forest by my house. Wanna go explorin' together?" he asked, positive that Todd wouldn't pass up his offer. The mausoleum was large enough, so perhaps there were some secret passages like in those old horror movies!

"C'mon! This place migh' have some treasure or... somethin!" he said, sounding rather excited suddenly as he started tugging on the little zombie's hand. The staircase he had seen only minutes earlier was starting to tug on his curiosity now that his initial terror of zombies and skeletons had faded.

Todd bobbed his head emphatically, red locks swishing this way and that with the motion. It would sure be more fun than sitting. He was sure Da wouldn't mind him playing for a little. Da said he needed to play more and be nice to other kids and make friends. So...he wasn't really being bad, wandering off like this.

He was being good. He was making friends. He'd just have to be careful not to bite.

He kept his cold, pale hand wrapped firmly around the other boy's as he carefully toddled along. "Yeah, 'splorin'!" he echoed, seeming excited at the prospect. He was more interested in finding new smells and texture than actual treasure, granted, but an adventure was an adventure!

Azrael grinned and wandered over to the staircase, occasionally tripping slightly on uneven tiles or debris of sorts. He didn't exactly want to look down and check what exactly he tripped over, since he hadn't a clue what it could possibly be... and what it couldn't.

Making it to the staircase, the little demon hesitantly tested out the first step, making sure it wouldn't crumble or disappear. Seeing it solid, he continued down in a similar manner, testing out the next step before actually stepping onto it. Granted, it would have been easier to just fun down the steps and about ten times faster, but he didn't want to fall into an endless pit like people sometimes did in movies.

After what seemed like ages, and probably only a few minutes, they ran into a locked door. "Great... Todd, there's a locked door. Feel around for a loowse brick or... somethin. Tha's where they hide keys," he explained, running a hand over the walls for some sort of hiding place.

He moved slowly but surely. Smell was only so useful here, so he fell back to touch. He hung on to Azrael and tapped his foot in front of him cautiously as he moved, stumbling a bit either when the other did or when he was tugged along too fast. Once they stopped, he cautiously stepped forwards, feeling the change in level. Stairs. He knew what stairs were. Cautiously, he stepped onto the first step, leeting go of the other boy to grope for a banister. Not finding one, he hesitated, seeming uneasy before putting both hands to the wall and steadying himself. He headed down thereafter, moving much slower than the other boy...though it wasn't out of fear that the steps would drop away...just out of fear he'd take a tumble. He hated falling.

Once he hit level floor, he gave a contented squeal, as though this was some sort of accomplishment. He sniffed the air and turned his face to the other boy's direction, clouded eyes still having that faraway look to them despite the fact he was listening intently.

Loose brick? He groped at the wall, tiny fingers trying to find anything that resembled 'loose'.

"Loose loose loose...loose bwicks, find loose bwicks..." he muttered to himself, frowning at his lack of success.

Despite what Todd may have thought, he had been watching the boy's slow progress down the stairs and had made sure the blind zombie-like kid didn't trip and fall. He hated falling too, and falling down stairs sounded far more painful than just regular falling.

Purple-tinted hands brushed over the various bricks as they pushed, pulled, and just tried to move the rocks in general. It took him a few minutes but he eventually found it near the bottom of the door and, upon removing the brick, removed a shiny brass key covered in cobwebs and dust. "Aha! Todd! I found th' key!" he exclaimed, grinning pridefully as he removed the treasure from its hiding place and stood up from the floor so that Todd could "see" it too before it went into the door's lock.
