Man, I kinda wish there was a large group of people like me. Then I could use our collective beliefs as an excuse for stuff.

Lumanny the Space Jew Call Me Apple I try to avoid the Muslim card unless someone pushes. I decline it 2 times before saying "I'm a Muslim" then it's all awkward .____. That is ideal. You really shouldn't use your card unnless you absolutely have to. I just love doing it too much. YEAH I'M A MINORITY, BITCHES. I DON'T CARE IF YOU WEREN'T OPRESSING ME, I JUST WANT TO SAY IT! Do you have a sense of humor about it, or do you seriously get offended just to get out of stuff? XD I know a few people who play the minority card just to make people uncomfortable.
As for me, it only comes up occasionally. Me: *accidentally drops something* Oh Jesus Christ! My mom: Hey! Stop that. Me: I'm an atheist. I can say whateeeever I want. :3

Zslone2 rofl thats good Apple. Anyway i don't ever use "I'm Pagan I don't do that." ever, it's pointless I don't care what ever it is your attempting to make me do, the only thing i won't do is pray to the "One Almighty God" that Judaism, Christianity and Islam worship, I've been to a church as a youth group and they attempted to make me pray and I was like it aint my thing, no other questions were asked and they really didn't care. Oh on a side note if your Jewish or basically any religion with barely any Calendar days and in school if u get your parents to send a note or something to ur school saying ur w/e religion and you are an active w/e and you take your religion's holidays off your allowed to cause its against the bill of rights or Constitution to deny you that. So basically you get the Calendar Holidays off plus your religions holidays off, my friend (who is also pagan) does this and the school can't mark him with an unexcused absence since its a religious holiday. But yea if you go to a school that is specific to your religion you got no cards to use and I consider it a good thing cause your rubbing it in there face that your whatever and shouldn't have to do w/e it is. I understand if its going to like Church or praying to a god(s) you don't believe in but doing it over making a christmas card is just bull*hit like just make the damn card just make it for your next holiday. It's a Jewish school, we already get the holidays off...

If your searching for a new religion could you use that as an excuse to get out on every religions holidays??? You could say right now your checking out (insert religion) so you are celebrating (insert holiday) who thinks that would be plausible??? anyone wanna test it out for me?? ((I'm out of school until February and then I can't miss any so I can make sure I don't get behind... plus I might take it all online which would mean that I wouldn't have anything to be excused from..XP))

I use the religion card to get out of eating things like sketchy cafeteria meat and southern barbecue.
Although, I now adore our Israeli exchange student who is more assertive than I am and managed to score kosher meat for sandwiches. So now I don't have to die of protein deficiency.
Mostly, I avoid the religion card. If I can manage without any special accommodations, I do.

I only used the "Christian card" to get out of one assignment that went against my beliefs.

Lumanny the Space Jew The Jew Card. It's what we Jews call it when you say "Well, that's my religion" and stuff like that. When you use the Hebrew Calendar in polite conversation with gentiles and then say "What??? I can say 5770 if I want to. Well, it's my Religion!" When you use Judaism as an excuse to get out of stuff. "I can't, there's this Jewish thing. Well, it's my religion! I can skip out if I want to!" Stuff like that. It's hard to explain. So, how often do you use the Jew card? Or the Christian Card? Or the Wiccan card? I understand what you mean. It's the idea of saying " They are my beliefs so I will follow them as I please. " But it turns into a subliminal message where you sneak your way out of many things.
For example, today one of the not-so new kids learned I was Atheist. He turned up to me in gym with a kid and they both said, " Jesus is on our side. Jesus loves you. " I protested and calmly got his attention alone. " Look man, that isn't cool. Don't make fun of my religion. " OH s**t! Yeah, I screwed up by saying religion instead of beliefs, but my point goes farther. " You don't have a religion. " " Me: But still, follow religious tolerance. " " But your not religious. " I continue by saying that even so, he still should have not said that, and then he pulled the "Christian Card". " But I wasn't making fun of you. They are MY beliefs and I will follow them how I want. "
The self-centeredness was tiring so I left it at that. But you get my point. I HAVE had it happen to me. I only use the Atheist card every now-and-then when it's needed. It's not always a bad thing to use it, just depends on HOW you use it.

Question: isn't using your religion as an excuse to not do something - when you really don't feel you truly need to avoid this something - making light of your own religious practices? Or disrespecting them in a fashion? I mean, if you really want to celebrate your holiday, it isn't an excuse, it's an important reason not to do something. Am I making sense with this question?

Starlock Question: isn't using your religion as an excuse to not do something - when you really don't feel you truly need to avoid this something - making light of your own religious practices? Or disrespecting them in a fashion? I mean, if you really want to celebrate your holiday, it isn't an excuse, it's an important reason not to do something. Am I making sense with this question? It depends on the belief actually. I mean, you could say your religion allows you to skip or miss something. Anything is possible now-a-days.
