[Wonderful. I like your missions better when they are spaced out like this. Much easier to read! There were a few typoes and you can tell a few floors were rushed, but overall it was much better than your last ones! Improvment~ also, you have a habit of calling the enemy Pokemon with their species as their names. "Honchkrow attacked" rather than "The Honchkrow attacked!" ]

"Thankyouthankyouthankyou-" The Surskit babbled on, clinging onto Christian's head. "Here! Take this 500 PD and Shiny Stone as my thanks! Goodbye, my friends!"
The tiny bug scurried out the guild.

Moments later a familiar Honchkrow, a Xatu and a Delibird wandered in, looking to join Team HTPN!

Team HTPN

"Hurray! They're back!" Zelos cheered as he waited for the group to return back to the guild. Their mission, was a success from what he could tell. Zelos, Sheena, Kurogane, and Jessica were all feeling the same thing, prideful.

The returning group smiled as they came face to face with their rest of the team, exhausted from the mission they just completed. All they wanted right now was to come home and rest, rest for the upcoming events of their future.

"I'm sorry guys, but we're not accepting anyone at the moment so yeah..." Zelos chuckled as he disappointed all three of the recruits. As much as he wanted to accept at least one of them, he couldn't. Team HTPN was getting full, two more members and they'll be completely full. He wanted to wait and keep the slots open for anyone who needs to join.

Team Shatter

Gwendolyn once more bravely approached the partner assignment office. Her last attempt had been less than fruitful, but some kind words from the Jynx had compelled her to come. She once more walked up to face the Gardevoir who manned the office. She had a constant look of boredom and disinterest until someone talked to her, at which point her face lit up with an honest happiness. “Anything I can do for you hon?” “I... would like to form a team.”

The Gardevoir looked at her curiously. “Weren't you just in here yesterday?” The Snorunt's gaze turned downwards, away from the motherly figure. “Ah, alright. Don't worry about it, we'll fix you up. Hopefully this time your partner won't be such a jerk.” Gwendolyn smiled at the Gardevoir and went to take a seat. She wasn't the only one; quite a few pokemon were seated around the room, each and every one was anxious to get a partner. Many of them were noisy and loud. Oh, how she hoped she didn't get someone like that...

She was startled when she noticed a Mankey staring at her intently. What did he want...? She shrunk back in her chair, hiding from his gaze behind another pokemon. This only caused him to get off his chair and shift around her in order to get a better look at her. She stared back at him timidly, trying to avoid direct eye contact. He finally pointed one finger at her and began to screech loudly. “Ukeee! You! Join my team!” She shrunk back further into her chair. “I'm waiting to be assigned a partner.” The Mankey began to beat his fists against the ground until he loudly exclaimed, “You're my partner now!” With a step he was near her in an instant, taking her by the arm and dragging her out of the office.

“Hey! Wait!” The voice called out from behind the front desk. “Geeze, that's all she needs... A Mankey for a partner.” The realization struck her after a moment. “Ah, hell! She probably still has her old badges! They can actually take missions!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Mankey roughly pulled a badge out of the hands of his new “partner” and examined it carefully before sticking it to his chest. He walked through the front doors towards the bulletin board with the Snorunt in tow behind. “My name is Urist!” he proclaimed proudly. “...I'm Gwendolyn.” The Mankey rubbed one finger across his nose before making his loud proclamation once more. “Cheh! That's too long! I'll call you Lyn!” “...um... Okay...”
It wasn't long before the pair reached the board. Urist began promptly tearing down missions at random without properly looking at or considering any of them. Both thankfully and woefully, Steven was missing; he couldn't stop the desecration of his meticulously crafted board. After Urist had decimated about half of the board, Lyn set about to looking at missions of her own accord. She found one from the pile of torn down sheets that seemed good... Someone would have to help that kid. Being alone was scary...
With a slight poke, Urist bolted around with an “Ukee!?” to examine the mission. At first he seemed ready to dismiss it, but something changed his mind. A wide, stupid grin spread across his face as he seemed to stare off in space, as if imagining some great possibility. “U...Urist?” He seemed to snap out of it at her words with a jolt as he shifted back to reality. “Yeah! Let's take this one!”
Lyn couldn't help but feel he had some strange reason for it, but she held the mission close with a smile as she thought of helping the lost Teddiursa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The pair trudged up the steep mountain path, the forest still a far ways off. It took what felt like hours of climbing to reach the roost, though it was barely a half. The path tapered off and split into a multitude of winding trails that worked their way up and around the mountain. “Great! More uphill!” The Sanctuary that sat on the top of the mountain seemed to explode as every bird inside tore out at once, as if fleeing some great terror. Well, not that it had anything to do with them.

Lyn looked around. Where should they go...? The Ursaring wasn't anywhere nearby... Was this how it usually worked? She wasn't sure. The answer was taken from her when Urist went up a seemingly random trail with his eyes pointed at the ground, ignoring her protests of “wait!”

The path crawled into a forest, of sorts. It... wasn't exactly a forest. Maybe forest was a little generous. It was more like a collection of trees and shrubs. The whole thing was probably only about twenty meters long. Nonetheless, a path of destruction had been carved through the trees as if something heavy had rampaged through it.

Two voices spoke in unison from above the pair as they stepped around a smashed tree. “Hey! What are you doing here!? This is our territory!” The Snorunt tilted her body up to see two Starly facing down at her. “I'm... I'm sorry! We're just pas--” “Yeah, and what are you going to do about it!?” Lyn's gaze darted from the branches above to her idiot of a partner.

“We're gonna eatcha, that's what!” The two darted off their branches and swooped down, their talons bared. Gwendolyn curled up in fright. Why were they attacking her!? All she was trying to do was walk through. She ducked down fearfully as she heard one pass over her. Urist was busy clawing at the air in a futile attempt to deal with them. He stomped his feet down on the ground angrily. “Ukiki! Get down here!” The Starly just laughed off the comment. “Hey, ignore the runt! She's not doing anything. Help me with this guy.” The other Starly laughed in tune. “Sure.”

The two began to swoop down on Urist in turn; one would attack him to get his attention and the other would ram him when his back was turned. Though he clawed insistently at the air, he couldn't hit them. Their rancorous laughter only served to make him even angrier as his motions became increasingly berserk and inaccurate.

Lyn watched helplessly as her partner was assailed by attack after attack. “S... stop it!” One of the Starly took to a branch and laughed. “Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it, runt?” “I... I...” The Starly took off with another chuckle as he bombed down on Urist. “You exploration teams really suck, huh?”

Gwendolyn stared as they collided with Urist again and again. He was hanging in there, but he was very obviously getting tired. The two birds smiled triumphantly, no doubt happy at the thought of a nice big meal. She focused herself. She had to do something, after all. An attack, anything!

She felt a breeze pick up behind her. A cool, comforting breeze. A slow—no, fast gust of wind. A chilly gale that reminded her of her home on the mountains; the home she had left. The home she had abandoned to come out here in order to try and socialize and learn things about the “city life”. It was stupid of her to come out here. She could barely talk back home, what made her think it would be any better out... here...?

Lyn opened her eyes when she felt a slight, cautious poke to her side. Urist was rubbing his arms vigorously for some reason. The Starly were gone? They'd stopped attacking him? She turned back to where the Starly had been attacking Urist. A nearby fallen log was covered in frost. The birds had collapsed to the ground on their sides with wings frozen stiff. The leaves on the trees had begun to crumple. “Don't know what you did there, but good job.” Urist strode over to one of the Starly. “Heh! Not so tough now that you can't fly, are you?” The Starly groaned. “I... I did...?”

Urist, of course, began walking down the path without paying any attention to his partner's objections. The trail wound up to the very peak of the mountain rather uneventfully. Lyn's quiet words were ignored and Urist simply kept going all the way up to the very top, the Sanctuary. The peak stood stunted and poor, it's shape flattened long ago by some immeasurable force. Thick trees stood a hundred feet tall, their massive trunks having long since grown together to form one gigantic mass. The branches inside wove a indecipherable maze of hooks and stands so thick you could climb them.

Or, that's how it normally was. When they arrived one hole had been punched through the deformed mass of lumber that stood as the Sanctuary. Claw marks circled the entrance which was easily large enough for a creature several times the size of Lyn. A deep roar echoed from the hole; the fear was instant. “Urist... I don't think we should be going in here...” Urist, of course, ignored her. “The birds in the Sanctuary are really aggressive. I don't think we should go in there.” Once again, he ignored her to move inwards.

The Sanctuary was beautiful, to be sure. But something was very clearly amiss. Something had most clearly happened. Pidgey, Starly and Spearow alike were scattered around the earth in heaps along with their higher evolutions. Many were simple unconscious, others were clearly dead. Some struggled against their injuries to struggle out of the tomb their fallen friends had created. Lyn looked at the piles and bolted for the entrance. Urist barely heard her steps among the fearful squawks that emanated from deeper in. He turned back, a paw outstretched to his fleeing companion. “Lyn! Wait!” His eyes darted from his fleeing friend to the deeper part of the woods. He dreaded going alone, but he knew it needed to be done.

He ventured deeper into the trees, stepping carefully around unconscious birds and scraped tree trunks. “Hey! Hey, you!” Urist turned up to the Spearow. He shifted uncomfortably on his branch, his eyes darting constantly from Urist to a much deeper part of the forest. “She yours!? Get her outta here! She just showed up and started screamin' and killin' everyone!” Urist nodded, too preoccupied with his thoughts to bother saying something angry back. I thought she was here. It's a good thing she hadn't backtracked.

Urist moved to a run as he stormed towards the interior of the forest. Specks of blood littered the trees and the grass as the carnage grew worse. He came upon the source of the destruction in short order; a very, very angry mother. One bloody claw swung forward to catch a Fearow sharp in the side, sending it hurtling to the ground. A loud, guttural roar shook the mountain. “WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER!?”

She stood proud, defiant and angry. Scratches and cuts lined her body and blood poured from her claws, some from her and some from anything she attacked. One eye was covered in blood from a deep, red line that poured from her brow.

“I told ya, she's gone nuts! She won't stop screaming 'my daughter my daughter' and she's killin' anyone that gets in reach! Get ridda her!” The Spearow squawked fearfully and took off upwards at the sound of another roar. Urist bravely approached the Ursaring, his badge held in front of him. She spun to face her new assailant, claws raised. Her fierce expression eased when she recognized the badge. “You're from the guild...?” “Yeah, come on! We gotta go!” Her indignant gaze affixed itself upwards. “NO! Not until they give me back my daughter!” One of the Spearow crooned from up above. “We don't have ya stinkin' kid! Just leave already!” Another deep roar sent the lesser birds scattering upwards. “Hey! If they say they don't have your kid, they don't have her! You think they'd lie after you killed so many? She might still be out there wondering what the hell you're doing!” “My... my baby?” “Yeah! She might be waiting for you.”

The change was instantaneous. The fierce, bloody claws dropped to her side as the one eye that could still see teared up. “Y... Yeah. Let's go.” She followed Urist out of the sanctuary, the jeering calls of the birds at her back. Lyn was waiting at the entrance, her body huddled up against the wall. “Urist! You're back!” Her feet took her towards her companion in joy, and far back in fright when the bloody Ursaring emerged from the trees. The scars that lined her body didn't exactly paint her an image of “cute and cuddly”.

The Mankey's face turned to confusion until he realized the obvious. She probably didn't know who the Ursaring was. “Hey, Lyn! This is the client.” “...She is?” “Yeah! Stop hiding.” “Oh, um, alright...” Lyn slowly shifted towards the client with her gaze turned downwards. She tensed suddenly when a large, soft paw began to rub her head. In time, she relaxed and looked up to meet the gaze of the mother who smiled warmly at her.

“Let's go find your daughter.” The trio left the sanctuary to continue their search around the mountain. They encountered two very loud, stupid Delibird who exclaimed “This is our territory, see! You can't be here!” And then momma Ursaring promptly smashed them into the ground. What, did you expect something else to happen?

And so, their search continued through the hours of the day. Morning turned to noon and beyond as they trudged on, circling the vast mountain and it's winding paths. It was near a ledge that disaster struck. A lone Murkrow circled in, colliding with the smaller Snorunt and launching it off the path. Urist took advantage of the brief vulnerability after the attack and was on top of it in an instant. Lyn tumbled down, down the slopes. Pain wracked her body as she bounced off of rock and and branch until she finally collided with a flat surface and embraced the sleep her body forced on her.

Urist nearly tore down the slope after her before the motherly Ursaring stopped him. “We'll go around. If we try to get down that way, we'll just hurt ourselves.” He nearly swung at her. It would've been easy to break her grip and go down after Lyn, but... she was right. “Ukiki! Fine! Let's go!”

When they finally reached where she had fallen, she was gone. The first thought was that they had found the wrong shelf, but the slight pool of blood told them otherwise. She had been here, and recently.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh dear, oh dear. Another one lost in the mountains?” Ohhhh... What's going on? “She must've fallen down the ledge, poor dear.” Who's that...? “Well, I suppose I should take her back.” Wait, what's going on? “I can't leave her here, after all. Someone else might find her.” Where are you taking me...? With that one final thought, her mind faded once more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

She awoke with a start to the feeling of something poking her sharply in the back. A nest...? Rolling herself onto her feet, she found herself at the edge looking outwards. The sun still hung lazily in the sky, perhaps three hours from noon. She turned around to face her captors. A male Pidgeot lay on his back, sleeping lazily. A small nest's worth of Pidgey were snuggled up against him. Maybe if she left quietly, she could get away unnoticed?

But, alas, such a thing was not to be. The sound of wings came down as a second Pidgeot came down on the nest, slowly. Her gaze was turned inquisitively to Lyn, who stood frozen in fear. She came down beside the Snorunt and began to look her over carefully, as if sizing her up for a meal. She finally sighed after checking Lyn over entirely. “Good, you're alright.” “...?” “You're an exploration team member, right?” The Pidgeot smiled broadly at her. “I found you unconscious near the other side of the mountain. It looked like you had quite a fall, so I brought you back here.”

Lyn's body seemed to melt with relief. “Yes, I um... I was with my partner when something attacked me... I think.” The Pidgeot nodded knowingly. “Yes, some of the birds up here like to make a snack out of anyone that wanders onto the mountain. Personally, my parents lived back in the city and always told me the guilders do more good than harm, so I should let them go.” She leaned in a bit closer and spoke at a whisper. “My husband didn't quite agree with the sentiment, but I pulled him around.” Lyn breathed a final sigh of relief, a signal for her heart to stop moving at a mile a minute. She had thought she was going to be devoured.

“I don't suppose you're here for him?” “...?” The Pidgeot hopped up with a flap of her wings to the other end of the nest. “This guy.” Lyn walked around the husband and was alarmed to see who was resting on the other side. “She fell down last night, so I picked her up and towed her over here. She's... rather taken with my husband.” The small Teddiursa was snuggled up closely against him, holding his wing to the ground. “Y... Yes!” “Ah, good. I think my husband would be rather pleased if you took her off our hands.” “Yes, yes I would.” His eyes shot wide open and he stared directly at Lyn. “She won't stop pulling my wing down and going to sleep on it. She even got the other kids to start taking naps on me.” Lyn couldn't help but chuckle at the poor man's plight. “Do you need any help taking her home?”

Lyn looked around. Now that she thought about it, where the hell was she? She was on the mountain still, but where...? “Um... Yes. That would be nice, thank you.” The Pidgeot nodded and gave the Teddiursa a sharp poke. “Dear, it's time to go home.” With a yawn, a grumble and some awkward positioning both Lyn and the Teddiursa were on the mother's back. “Alright, off we go~! Hold on tight!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Urist had continued wandering the mountain at random, trying to find his partner. The Ursaring walked beside him, her hopes as dim as his. In all likelihood, she had been scooped up by a predator and was already in something's stomach. But, still, they searched; they searched for hours without break or rest.
The birds circled above, waiting for a moment of weakness in which they could extract their vengeance. One spiraled downwards from the rest to land nearby. A wing was lowered and the Snorunt aboard slid off. “Lyn!” Urist stomped forward towards his partner and immediately picked her up in a bear hug. “You're back!”
Of course, the greatest surprise came to the mother who found her child sleeping on the Pidgeot's back. A bear hug later, the child awoke with the words of “Momma, you're hugging me too tight.” She smiled, and still clutching her child, looked down at the Pidgeot. “Thank you.” “It's no problem. I have a clutch of my own who still can't fly; I don't know what I'd do if one of them went missing.” The young Teddiursa pushed herself away from her mother's breast. “Oh, Momma! You're hurt!” The Ursaring smiled, tears flowing from her eyes. “I'm alright, dear. I'm alright.”
"I can never thank you enough!" The Ursaring cried, her child hanging from her arms like a plushy.
"Here, take the Sharp Beak and Fly HM." With her free hand she deposited a small bag before the tiny Snorunt before raising it in farewell.
Inside was a bonus 1000PD!
The next day at the guild the door was flung open and a Pidgeot, one of the a*****e Starly and a familiar Teddiursa.
"My mother said it was okay if I joined a rescue team! She's convinced I'll be safe with brave explorers such as yourselves!"
Urist immediately wrested the TM from Lyn's hands and used it. He immediately sailed up, into the air screaming, "I CAN FLY!!!". At least, until he crashed into the ceiling and came plummeting back down to earth with a nasty "crunch". The three in his company watched him sail up, and then down. "So, yeah. Can I join your team or not?" The screeching voice came from the furry clump. "Ukiiiiiiii! No way, we don't need anyone!" Urist righted himself and stormed off, tears welling in his eyes.
"Ah, dammit. I was looking forward to some easy food..." The Starly turned to leave, but paused midstep at the voice behind him. "Um... Well... I think it would be nice if you could both join." The Teddiursa began to clap happily, pronouncing "Yay! Yay!" but the Starly just sighed. "No, no. That's not how it works. The guild will only let you have one new member per mission. It's policy." The Teddiursa froze in her tracks and Lyn's face was downtrodden. "Oh, is... that so?" He nodded. "Yeah. It regulates the number of people they let in, or so I was told. Last time I came looking to join a team they told me they 'couldn't take more than one'." The trio collectively sighed. If they could take only one, that meant one had to leave. "Ah, whatever. I'll head off, good luck with your team." "Heyyy, wait. Mr. Starly, couldn't you just make your own team?" He looked thoughtfully at the Teddiursa for a moment. "Ah, hell. I'm an idiot, you're right. Thank you. And my name's not Mr. Starly, it's Johnathan." He hopped off, no doubt in the direction of the partner assignment office. "You're welcome Mr. Johnathan!"
The Starly stopped in his tracks for a moment, but thought better of saying anything more. Lyn was a tad distraught, but happy all the same that they had both resolved the conflict and gained a new member. "Welcome to the team." The Teddiursa nodded happily. "Yeah! Thank you for letting me join, Miss! My name's Chelsea, what's yours?" She pondered the question for a moment. Her full name was Gwendolyn, but... "Lyn." "Okay then, Miss Lyn!" "Um... Just Lyn is fine." The Teddiursa took her hand to her mouth in contemplation. "My momma always said to call people 'miss' and 'mister', but I guess it's okay if we're friends." Lyn nodded, much preferring her name without the prefix.
She wondered what Urist would think, but... oh well.
Kasui Ace
Mission 1: Facing the Past
Ace flew rapidly through the air, looking back at his partner. “Hurry up Kasui! This is our first mission! We need to make a good impression for our team!”
His partner rolled slowly behind him. The spheal yawned and continued his leisurely pace towards the roost. Kasui replied, “Calm down dude, we’ve got time. Besides this is an easy enough mission anyway. All we have to do is save a larvitar from an attacking hoothoot. They’re on the twelfth floor of the Feathered Roost.”
Suddenly Ace quit flapping his wings. A look of fear crossed the bird’s face. The tailow uncharacteristically stuttered, “D-Did you say the Feathered Roost?”
Kasui responded calmly, “Yeah, why?” The spheal looked up at his partner and immediately realized something was wrong. Ace never even slowed down, let alone stopped. He spoke up, “What’s wrong dude? Why’d you stop?”
Ace began to flap his wings once more, but now moving at a much slower pace, “Nothing. This is just where I grew up.” The tailow continued onward, trying to keep his cool. This mission would become a lot harder than Kasui had ever guessed.
The spheal exclaimed, “Great! Now we have a guide to the area! So which way do we go to get up to them?” Kasui yawned as he surprisingly kept up with Ace. Well, there’s a first time for everything I guess.
Ace replied, “No, you don’t understand. I was born into the royal family of this area. They were always correcting my behavior and trying to make me into the perfect heir. They were always disappointed in me. I tried to please them but it never worked. I always left the roost to explore and get away. Then all because of a tiny little prank I pulled one day, they banned me from exploring too, and my dad posted guards around the area. One day, I snuck out and somehow made it past the guards. I decided to just roll with it and run away. Then I found the Guild of the Shimmering Ice, and here I am. But see, this is a huge problem. We can’t make it to the twelfth floor where the larvitar is without crossing through my family’s territory.”
Kasui listened to his friend’s story quietly. He continued rolling along as his friend spoke. Kasui soon responded, “Well there has to be a way around, right? And besides, what’s the problem with running into your family? Maybe they can help us out!”
Ace thought it over again and still couldn’t think of any routes without encountering his family. He replied, “Nope, there isn’t. And you obviously don’t get the danger if they find me. They will bring me back to their nest and put me on severe lockdown. If we encounter my family, it could be it for Team Impulse. We better just abandon this mission. Even though we’ll get ridiculed by our guildmaster at least our exploration team will stay together.”
Kasui yawned back at his partner, “What happened to the motivation you had before? We’re not going back. This larvitar is counting on us and we’re not letting it down. Besides, I’ve already rolled all the way out here, I’m not rolling back empty handed! We’ll confront your family together dude! They won’t be able to keep you there.”
Ace replied, “Obviously you don’t know my family. They wont take no for an answer. But if you insist, we’ll walk towards the destruction of this team.”
Kasui yawned as he rolled along the trail. He was growing more and more nervous of this journey the more Ace spoke. He quickly shook off his nerves and exclaimed, “That’s the spirit! Let’s go save this larvitar!”
However, the young spheal did not realize how far they had gotten into the roost. Many birds were now staring at the two after the spheal’s loud shout. The two would hear a rustle as a dark bird, seemingly just a shadow, flew in for a closer look on his prey. The murkrow glanced downwards at the two pokemon who had entered his domain. They would soon regret that they ever stepped foot on his land. It swooped downward and picked up the small spheal with his talons, “Kaw! Nobody enters my territory and lives to regret it!”
Ace watched as his friend was about to become this bird’s prey. He quickly began to think of a plan to free Kasui. Ace shouted at the murkrow, “Put him down now! I’m Ace of the royal family. I would advise you do what I say if you want to keep your nest here!”
The murkrow began to snicker. This was the kid who had run away from the royal family. Did he seriously have enough nerve to show his face around here again? Soon, a smirk came upon the murkrow’s face. “Fine, take him!” he cawed loudly as he dropped Kasui on top of Ace, crashing him to the ground. Soon the murkrow dropped to the ground, “Okay I’ll give you two options kid. You can come along with me willingly so I can bring you back to your family, or I’ll take you by force! So what’s it gonna be?”
Ace shouted back defiantly, “Over my dead body! There’s no way I’ll let you bring me back there!” Soon, Ace’s wings began to flap again. He started to build up speed as he flew through the air, building up a large tailwind.
Kasui yawned, “Come on, at least drop me on a pillow or something. I wouldn’t mind a nap sometime soon.” Kasui ignored his urge to sleep however and started to think of how to attack this new threat. He quickly shot an ice beam at the murkrow, attempting to freeze it to the ground.
The murkrow cackled as he dodged the ice beam, “Kakakaka, you’ll have to do much better than that if you want to beat me!” Soon the dark bird began to fly through the tailow’s tailwind, pursuing his target quickly. It didn’t take long for him to approach his prey. He then began to claw Ace with his talons.
Ace grunted as the murkrow attacked him. The scratches hurt, but he was determined to come out on top. He turned around and began pecking the murkrow wildly, managing to get in a few strong hits on the predator.
The murkrow quickly fought back against his opponent. He began pecking Ace wildly, not missing any chance to tear at his wings with his talons. If the fight kept up this way, Ace wouldn’t last long. The two continued delivering blows to each other, forgetting that there was a third pokemon involved in this battle.
Kasui focused once more and tried to aim while the bird was distracted. Though he and Ace were close together, the spheal thought he could get just the murkrow. He aimed carefully and then fired his ice beam, hoping it would hit its target. Soon he would see the attack make its mark on the murkrow, but it also hit Ace a little bit. Both birds dropped from the sky and fell onto the ground below. Kasui could see that Ace was scratched up and struggling to stand up again, but lucky for them the murkrow predator was passed out.
Ace slowly picked himself up off the ground, “Thanks dude. That fight was getting ugly way too fast. Now let’s go. This time keep your voice down, we don’t want to get into another fight!”
Kasui yawned, “No worries, I’ll stay quiet. Besides, I’m not the loud one here.” The spheal rolled along behind his partner. The two continued onward through the roost, making quick progress towards the 12th floor. Kasui asked, “So, how high up are we now?”
Ace responded, “We’re about halfway there, but things are gonna be much harder from here on out. We’re coming up on my family’s territory. If you want to rest at all now would be the time. Once we get there, we’re not stopping until we’re out.”
“I wouldn’t mind a nap, or maybe a bite to eat. Did you bring the apples?” Kasui asked as he slowly rolled into a stop. He rolled over onto his back and yawned, ready for his nap.
Ace pulled two apples out of his bag. “I got them right here!” he shouted as he tossed one to Kasui. He descended from the air and landed next to Kasui. He sat down and bit into his apple. Kasui caught his and did the same. The two finished their apples very slowly, as neither of them was looking forward to the journey ahead of them. Ace could hear the sound of Kasui snoring as he tried to get some sleep himself. Unfortunately, he couldn’t sleep a wink. He had far too much on his mind. What if his parents found them? Would he be able to escape again, or would he be stuck there forever? The young heir just wanted this mission to be over, and fast.
--------6 hours later--------
Kasui yawned as he woke up from his long snooze. He looked over to his partner, who was already awake. He asked, “How long have you been up?”
Ace yawned, “I didn’t sleep at all. I couldn’t. I’m so nervous about this next part of the mission. We can’t get caught, or Team Impulse is history.” He began to slowly continue onward, into his family’s territory.
Kasui rolled behind him, “Well, there’s no turning back now. You’ve escaped once Ace, I’m sure you can do it again. But let’s try not to make it come to that.” The two made their way through the roost, sticking mostly to the shadows. They stayed silent, hoping to draw very little attention to themselves.
However the inevitable would soon come upon them. As they passed by a group of bird pokemon, a delibird looked over to the two suspiciously. It didn’t take him long to identify his brother, “Yo Ace! Dude, where have you been the past year! Mom and dad are gonna freak when they see you!”
Ace turned around to see his youngest brother approach him. s**t, we were almost out of here too. I guess if it had to be any of my brothers, Glacier is the most likely to let me go. I just hope nobody else heard him shout. Ace replied softly, “Yo Glacier! Keep it down dude, do you want the whole family to hear? I left for a reason you know.”
Glacier looked puzzled but listened to his brother. He whispered, “Why, dude? You were the heir to the Swift family! You were going to be the chief when you were old enough! Then you left and threw it all away. I’m sure mom and dad would let you take your spot back though if you apologize.”
Ace glared at him, “I don’t want to be the heir! I don’t want to be the perfect child they wanted me to be! I just want to be an explorer! After I ran away, I joined the Guild of the Shimmering Ice and Team Impulse. I belong there, not here.”
Glacier looked at him in awe, “Awesome, dude! Exploring sounds like so much fun! I wish I could explore some but mom’s been posting even more guards to make sure none of us run away too. It kinda su-” The delibird was cut off by another bird pokemon’s appearance.
“Ace? I thought you were gone for good. Why’d you leave, bro?” chirped a natu. The only female child of the Swift royal family looked up to her older brother, “Slash isn’t going to like your return. Ever since you left, he’s become the new heir, and I don’t think he’ll be willing to give it up.”
Ace responded, “Sabrina, he can be the heir for all I care. I don’t want to. I kinda left to avoid all that. I’m just here on an exploration mission. I need to save some larvitar from a hoothoot or something.”
Sabrina rolled her eyes, “No, you can’t leave now. We need you to become the heir. I mean let’s face it. Slash will abuse his power way too much. We can’t have him be heir.”
Ace retorted, “No. I’m going to leave now. There’s a larvitar who needs us to get a hoothoot off his head. Come on Kasui!”
Sabrina flew in front of him, “If you want to leave, you have to get through us!” She pulled Glacier by her side. The delibird looked at her with a puzzled look, but she instantly shot him a glare that wiped the look on his face. He had to stay by her side here, whether he liked it or not. The natu chirped, “So, you and the spheal over there versus me and Glacier in a two on two match. If you win, you leave. We win, you stay.”
Ace groaned, “Fine, but let’s make this quick, there is a larvitar who needs some help!” The bird quickly started to fly through the air, quickly gaining speed with his agility attack.
Sabrina took off as well, not quite as fast as Ace though. She quickly began to stir up an ominous wind attack directed to Ace. She smirked as the attack not only hurt her brother, but it also slowed him down a bit.
Kasui yawned as the battle began. He began to roll towards Glacier. It started out slow, but the closer he got to the bird, the faster he went. He built up speed until he was right by the delibird. Then he jumped into the air, body slamming him.
Glacier was hit hard by the body slam attack. He began bashing his head into the spheal as he struggled to get him off of him. Soon the headbutting had taken effect, and Kasui had jumped off of him. The two fell down, both unable to get up. It seemed the fight was now between brother and sister.
Ace soon began to get his speed back. He began to pursue Sabrina, who was now attempting to fly away from him. He started to gain on her and the distance between them grew less and less. Soon, he had closed the gap and began to attack her wildly.
Sabrina grunted as she was attacked by the tailow. She began to formulate a plan as her eyes glowed purple. Soon, Ace would lose control over his body. She began to toss him into the ground with her psychic attack. She continued bashing him against the floor until she thought he was weak enough, “Face it. You were meant to become the heir of the Swift family.”
Glacier watched as Ace struggled to get up. He wished he wasn’t pulled into this. Ace was just following his dreams, that’s all. The delibird looked into his bag of presents and picked one out. “Bombs away!” he shouted as he threw it at Ace. Sabrina and Kasui watched the present fly, expecting it to be the final blow. However, the present did not burst. Instead, it seemed to have the reverse effect of Ace. Soon, he was standing back up again. Was this an accident? No. Glacier picked that one specifically to heal his brother.
Ace quickly took action while Sabrina wasn’t expecting it. He attacked her with one final pursuit attack to finish her off. He smirked, “No Sabrina, I was meant to be an explorer. Team Impulse is where I belong, not here.”
Sabrina grunted as her brother had bested her. She responded, “Fine, go ahead. We’ll pretend we never saw anything. But be sure to come back sometime when you’re older. We miss you.”
Ace nodded as he and Kasui ran on ahead, approaching their final destination. Suddenly, a staravia swooped down in front of them, “You really have the nerve to show your face around here again? Well I have news for you bro, I’m the heir now. Now I suggest you beat it before mom and dad see you, or things may get very bloody.”
Sabrina chirped in, “Slash, he doesn’t want to stay. Just let him be on his way. We’ve already tried to make him stay but he wants to leave just as much as you want him to.”
Slash groaned, “Fine I’ll let you go Ace, but if I see you around here again you’ll regret ever being born into this family.”
Ace retorted, “I don’t plan on it Slash.” He began to take off, “Have fun being the heir, I hope you find it as fun as I did,” he said sarcastically. Kasui rolled behind him as they approached the larvitar and hoothoot.
Kasui shouted, “Don’t worry Larvitar! Team Impulse has come to save you!” He struggled to hold in the laughter at the hoothoot perched on the head of the larvitar.
The larvitar shouted, “Okay, that’s great, just get him off me!” The small pokemon ran around hysterically, trying to shake off the hoothoot.
Ace attempted to talk the hoothoot down, “Okay, will you please get off the larvitar? We don’t want to have to take you off by force. But we will if you make us!” He waited for a response but the hoothoot would not give one.
“Force it is then!” Kasui shouted as he fired an ice beam at the hoothoot. Soon the hoothoot was knocked off the Larvitar’s head. However, it didn’t take too kindly to the attack. Its forehead began to glow purple as he flew towards the spheal. He zen headbutted Kasui in the chest. Ace quickly flew towards the hoothoot and pecked him in the forehead. Kasui then coated himself in ice and rolled into the attacking hoothoot.
Now the hoothoot was furious. His eyes glew purple, just as Sabrina’s had before. He tossed Kasui, still using his ice ball attack, into Ace with a psychic attack. Ace grunted with pain as he struggled to get up. Kasui quickly began to roll once more at the hoothoot. Being the third attack, ice ball was up to a high power. He made impact with the bird and watch as it hit the ground. The hoothoot seemed to have fainted. Kasui rolled over to the Larvitar, “There ya go! Now you know how to get a hoothoot off your head. Now don’t get any more birds stuck on your head, okay?”
Ace and Kasui smiled as they waited for the larvitar’s response. They had done it. Their first mission was a success, despite the difficulties it posed. Team Impulse would stay together, and would one day become a great exploration team.
"Ugh, damn. Thanks for getting that thing off of me..." The Larvitar rubbed his head slightly. The Hoothoot hadn't left any visible scars or wounds, in spite of likely having been there for quite some time, so it was probably just a nasty head ache. "I really don't know why I thought coming here would be a good idea. Let's go."
The Larvitar would come back with them to the guild, whether by the age-old method of walking or by the teleportation of the Explorer's Badge. When they would arrive, the Larvitar would give them the promised TM and 1,200 PD. Later on, he would ask to join the team along with a Murkrow who had been convinced of Ace's strength and a certain regretful Hoothoot.
[Alright! Decent enough first mission. Your writing was considerably even throughout. There are, however, some comments.
- Slash deciding to avoid the fight seemed abrupt.
- The interactions among the family seemed a little off beat. They seemed very friendly/informal with one another, but when Ace left the two of them it was a very quick scene. The "I miss you" comment was well placed, but Ace didn't seem to have much of a reaction to it. I dunno, it just stood out to me a little!
- The way you typed out the combat as if it were in "turns" was a nice touch that showed distinctly during the sibling battle, but be careful about using it in longer fights in which it may become an issue.
Overall, it was a solid mission, and I look forward to seeing you write more.
Rewards!
- 1000 PD
- Screech TM
- ???: Guaranteed Recruit option, Larvitar
- Take one of; Larvitar, Hoothoot, Murkrow as a recruit if you wish.
Bonus: 200 PD for excess length.]
Kasui Ace
Kasui held up his explorer badge to the larvitar and teleported them back to the guild. Ace was quick to reap the rewards of the mission, taking the PD and TM. Then the larvitar spoke up, "Hey, if you're looking for a recruit let me know."
Kasui nodded, "Yeah, you can join Team Impulse." He yawned and rolled onto his back. Soon, the new recruit would hear the sounds of his captain sleeping.
Soon, the murkrow and hoothoot came to the guild, but soon realized that the spot had alrady been filled. The murkrow sulked away quickly, hoping he was never even seen. However, the new recruit saw the hoothoot who had caused this whole dilemma. The larvitar quickly began to attack the hoothoot, "No! You are not getting back on my head! Get the hell out of here! Now! " The hoothoot silently left the guild with many cuts and bruises all over his body.
