Which should be called "landscape" instead surprised

User Image

I started this painting yesterday and stopped two hours later realizing that it wouldn't suit the characters that were drawn before this small concept was concieved.

As you can tell, it is a speed painting (took me around 2 hours, give or take) so that's why it is so sketchy.

Besides making the image softer, what do you think it lacks?

Ps.
The image itself was based on a stage from Street Fighter IV, hence the similarity.

I'm on a roll! whee

Nice work, I especially love the sky and the whispyness of the clouds. Digital painting perspective is something that still eludes me to this day. I've toyed around with it, but I've never been quite successful working with it. Good thing I'm not a Game [Concept] Art major. XD

Here's some tips I've figured out while playing around with this kind of speed paint:
- Thumbnails are your best friend. Make sure to plan something out ahead of time, even if it's just a quick 3 minute sketch. You'll have a better sense of direction of where to start.
- Block out colors first. Think in colors and general masses. Don't do "base colors" and add shadows, think about the form beforehand and work with the shadows upfront.
- A good brush set does wonders! Designate a brush for solid, hard forms, one for soft forms, and so forth.
- Perspective is a powerful tool to lead your eyes. In one-point perspective, the general area where the vanishing point is would be where the eye immediately jumps to. If you wanted to put one other thing in here, put it generally where the vanishing point is.

I'm not great at these kinds of concept art, but I hope it's all helpful. Cheers!
