Eirian stared blankly at the man, wondering why he insisted upon wasting his breath. Still, there was something in his smile—not necessarily attractive, but…calming. She looked away, inhaled deeply, and released the breath to further calm herself. When he offered his hand, Eirian hesitated, then clasped his hand with hers for the briefest of moments. The girl looked back to him, pursing her lips in faint annoyance.
“When I said that I couldn’t hear you, I meant it,” she said, a sigh following her words. “Not that I didn’t hear you, but that I cannot.”
Eirian remained quiet for a few seconds, her gaze drifting to her myriad wounds, then continued, “Toying with spells of higher rank can have ill effects. Temporary loss of hearing this time.”
She looked back at him, her mind replaying the movements of his lips. What had he said, she wondered? His tone had shifted; he didn’t seem quite as arrogant this time, but regardless, Eirian could only wonder what sort of revelation he’d made. Well, perhaps not. Given the handshake, it was probably an introduction. His name, probably, and what sort of specialty he had. Eirian almost provided her name, but refrained, in the event that she was wrong.
And then, somewhere in the back of her head, the noises of her surroundings faded in and out of the previous silence, like distant echoes. Voices, movement, the water lapping against the shoreline. The sounds were audible for only a few seconds at a time, and a slight buzzing lingered.
Promising, at least. Or so she hoped, anyway.

When you have all the ice you could ever want...
Kaiya smiled shyly as Riu nodded and welcomed her back. Of course, the Pisces was likely just as happy to see the mirror as he was to actually see her, but it was still nice to be acknowledged as part of the group. Turning from the pair she had greeted first, she tucked the mirror back into her bag as she noticed a new face present. The new man looked rather militaristic in his armor, and she wondered if he were a soldier or a guard of some sort. Well, not a city guard, most likely, his armor was vastly different from the guards in the Capitol or the ones she’d bypassed on her way out of the city. So hopefully he wasn’t looking to arrest them.
She examined the gathering group, trying to decide whether to try interacting with people. She’d never really been any good at it, but she would have to get used to it eventually, right? Especially if she were planning on staying with these people and continuing this grand adventure: which she was. She had been bored and hoping for something fun to come along, and now it had. She would probably never forgive herself if she let a chance like this go by. But how long would they be searching for the relics? Vesper had mentioned that she knew where a few of the relics were, but she hadn’t actually elucidated on how many relics she had been able to find or where they were. Searching all over the country for even one or two missing relics could take ages, especially if they didn’t even know where to start looking. Could she really afford to take that much time on her own without even informing her parents or her agent of her decision?
She shook her head, trying to dislodge the doubts that stemmed from her fear of social interaction. She’d write letters to her parents and agent; it wasn’t as if there were anything truly important that required her attention. She could even ask her parents to send Tanwen out with their next caravan of goods when she discovered where they were headed next. There was no reason to allow her fear to stop her from adventuring. Steeling herself to confront her fear, she walked over to where Eirian sat with Aethen, fishing out a healing potion from her bag as she noticed that the wizard seemed to be having trouble walking.
“Hello!” Managing to smile, Kaiya sat down beside Eirian and offered her the healing potion “I know you’re a wizard and are probably able to take care of yourself, but since I had an extra healing potion, I thought I might offer it anyways. I always carry around extras in case I injure myself in one of my games. It might not help too much since it’s for lighter injuries obtained during physical exertion, but it might help at least a little, right?”
Realizing that she was babbling, Kaiya finally shut her mouth as she felt heat rising to her face at the sudden tirade of words that had issued from her mouth. ...the only thing you need is a grand adventure.

Script woke up confused. The last thing he remembered was intending to approach some girl about a dog... Right? And then, nothing. What the hell happened to him? He lifted his head and looked down into the water that was smacking against the bank under his hands. Apparently his Scorpio friend had placed him somewhere more suited to his Sign, but seriously, where was he? He stared at his reflection, watched his gloved hand reach up and his exposed fingers massage the roots of his deformed hair. It was sticking up in places it had no business sticking up in, and he realized that it was determined to remain so. He cupped both hands and splashed his disobedient head with water from the....lake? "Hmm..." Script raised one brow and glanced around both sides of his vision. "Wonder if I'll meet anymore fish at the watering hole."

Vesper graciously thanked Riu for his help, accepting the plants he picked, but was more than a little...taken aback by the head pat. She felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment. She didn't even know this guy...why was he touching her head? Still, it was nice to see that everyone on their journey wasn't COMPLETELY INSANE (she may have subconsciously shot an evil eye towards Biq and the centaur), and he genuinely seemed to be a good person.
The Scorpio felt another rush of relief at Kaiya's arrival. The Mirror. She had it. She could've kissed her.
What had she expected to happen? That the girl would've run off with the Relic on her own?
No. Her instinct had been right. Looking from the helpful Pisces wizard, to the motherly (if not overbearing) centaur doctor, to the tall, mysterious Taurus, to Ali, the Libra girl, and finally to Kaiya, the Gemini holding the Relic. These were all good, honest people. Thank the gods she hadn't picked up any...questionable ones.
There were even a few among them she had never expected to see again. Eirian, the wizard was alive and...somewhat well. And the other Gemini...she seemed to be nearly completely healed.
On top of that, there were some that Vesper had never even seen before. A man with dark hair and a horse..who looked to be some sort of guard or assassin approached them, though she could see that Dkay was handling him.
Also... a hobo? Vesper wasn't sure, but what looked like a very...disheveled, colorful man appeared to be laying with his face nearly in the water a few yards away. Maybe he was passed out drunk or something. Hopefully he wouldn't try to join them. She didn't need any troublemakers.
With dismay, she noticed a few people were missing. The Cancer elf girl... well. No one had seen her since the tunnel collapsed. Vesper assumed the worst. The Capricorn boy that she had formed such a strong connection with was no where to be seen either. Or the twins that she had fought in battle wi...
“What's next?”
Vesper had been so caught up in tabulating all the remaining party members that she hadn't noticed the Leo sneak up behind her. His voice caused her to jump, sending the herbs in her arms, as well as her own self, flying.
“EEEK!” She tripped over her own robe, faceplanting hard into a thicket of cat tails and reeds, herbs falling around her head in a helter skelter, green halo.
This needed to stop.
That was the SECOND DANG TIME he had pulled this!
Though she had no way of knowing, Vesper's thoughts ran exactly along the lines as Eirian's. Every boy in this group was a complete clown.
But that wasn't the worst of it.
As she looked around, blinking to refocus her vision, she noticed something awful.
Laying next to her in the cat tails was.... a skinny black snake!
Shrieking again, she jumped to her feet, and kicked her leg out to stomp the thing.
(OOC- KIN IS SUCH A FREAKING JERK. I HATE HIM. XD. Also, welcome Crest!. And Script (even though you've been here forever hahaha). The idea with the “snake” is that it's Ben's tail, where he fell asleep from the previous night. Hopefully Vesper's fall will have woken him up though, so he can dodge the stomp ; A ; )

Knights in shining armor... _______________________...Don't exist.DKay’s visible left eye twitched. An entertainment troupe? This guy thought they were some kind of travelling circus? The Taurus nearly vomited his breakfast.
The men typically under his command struck fear into the hearts of his friends and enemies alike. He was an elite warrior! His intellect rivaled university scholars and his physical prowess could match those of any trained fighter! He was a leader! And to be reduced to nothing more than a traveling circus freak…
His ego was more than a little wounded.
“No.” DKay stated curtly. He forced himself to shrug off the unintended offense. He wasn’t going to be a woman about the whole situation. “We’re not for anyone’s entertainment. And we—“
At the sound of Vesper’s banshee shrieking, the albino’s hand went to the hilt of one of his swords at his back. He twisted in a fluid motion that sent his ebony cape rippling after him. His eyes narrowed as he took in the scene. Vesper…stomping on the ground. No strangers in sight.
Type I error. False alarm.
DKay heaved a sigh and released the hold on his hilt. He thought about counting to ten. He thought about just staying calm and not saying anything. But the alpha male in him was fueled by the childishness and inefficiency of the whole situation. “Get your asses in gear—we’re moving out in two minutes! D’Spoc, lead the way. Everyone get a partner. You’ll be responsible for that person as we travel.”
A narrowed sapphire eye dared someone to challenge him. Really, he wouldn’t have minded. But for the sake of his sanity and actually completing this mission sometime before he was ninety, he hoped that everyone would follow his orders.
The Taurus turned back to the stranger with his usual poker face. “We have no need for hired hands. We’re on a quest, but I won’t tell you about it until we’ve traveled together a while.” Only a fool would tell the stranger that they were searching for the Relics. If he was only interested in money, he might go back to the Mirr guards and report that they were the ones that stole the precious artifact. The stranger could be told once they were a safe distance away. “I can’t stop you from following us if you’re interested to hear our tale.”
DKay figured he was vague enough without being too much of an a*****e. With a respectful nod, the albino began walking. Hopefully D’Spoc had some kind of lead. __________________________________________________________________________________________ But dragons live forever.

----- you----- POOR ----- SWEET ----- INNOCENT ---------- THING dry--- your--- eyes --- and --- testify FEAR is only in our minds----- Taking----- over----- ALL ----- the----- time The doctor tilted his head to the side as he took in the girl’s meaning. Aah…so she was temporarily deaf. Well, that certainly made conversation difficult! Aethen supposed that he should have felt embarrassed, but instead, he smiled in amusement. Oh, but he was not going to voice his thoughts or opinions. No, no.
He hid behind the smile that reached his glistening sunset eyes.
Instead of opening his mouth (though if she could hear, he would have said, “My apologies”) Aethen lifted one hand. The caramel skinned hand was kept in front of him, fingers curled slightly as if holding something, while he maintained his gaze on the witch. In a moment’s beat and a flicker of magic, there was a slender metal stick in his hand. As long as a walking stick, the rod was tipped at the end that hit the earth. Quite like a needle.
With the end of the stick, Aethen began etching into the ground, grinning in amusement of his own antics. He felt like he was seven years old, playing in the sand. In surprisingly good handwriting for someone writing with an elongated metal apparatus, the doctor wrote, “Pleasure. I’m Dr. Aethen.”
When he was finished, Aethen released his needle and it dissipated into the air. Particles…mere particles.
As the other girl—Kaiya, Athen thought her name was—bounded over, Aethen offered Eirian a bow of his head. “I’ll leave you to better company then.” Although uncertain if she could hear him at this time or not, he thought she would be smart enough to understand that he was offering words of parting. After all, she knew how to use some magic. That required quite a bit of common sense.
Aethen paused when he heard the Taurus shouting orders. At first, sunset eyes narrowed as if in thought. Then, he let out a soft chuckle and brushed some midnight bangs out of his eyes. Ah, now that was one way to assert authority, Aethen supposed. He half-smiled and continued walking, hiding behind that amused smile.
The doctor approached the gunslinger with both hands in his pockets. She was alone and quite without one of the now required partners for their journey. Perhaps she would not mind a short time in his company, “Do you mind if we walk together? I would like to ensure that your body has recovered from the carbon monoxide you inhaled.” He offered her a hand to help pull her up, “I would say ‘doctor’s orders’ but I would not force a woman to keep me company.”

How. Rude.
Crest had watched in an almost fascinated manner while the man went through some sort of inner monologue, an eyebrow raising silently while he waited for some sort of response. The answer was interrupted by one of their party, who gave off a shrill cry, taking his attention momentarily from the man he had by now deemed to be in charge as he went for his sword. It was a testament to his own training that he had not flinched at the sudden move, crystal eyes turning towards the disturbance. A rather sweet looking young woman was currently flailing about, though he could not tell why. In any case it didnt interest him once he noted she was unharmed.
Gaze drifting back to the vexed man before him, he now understood the possibility for his foul disposition. He really didn't have to wait long for the delayed response, though he wondered if the answer was worth while. It was only a vague one, barely anything to go by and if anything at first understanding it sounded like a rather short dismissal. But then came the rest, pulling his interest back once more. A tale was it? Certainly such a ragtag of people coming together made for something decent. And if they were all headed together...at least he would have some sort of company to another city. Either way he was heading out empty handed, why not hear the tale?
"It sounds interesting, though there isnt much to go on." Crest replied evenly, touching his horse lightly with a small murmur of words as the man walked on. "We are making the best of this turn, my friend. Perhaps the path will lead us where we want this time." Astor snorted, acting as though he could understand his rider as he set off at a walk. He had said to pair up, did his horse count?

Her eyes narrowed, flickering between his face and his hand. When the stick appeared, Eirian followed the letters traced into the sand. Aethen. It felt like a fitting name for him. And a doctor, probably a wizard, at that.
“I'm Eirian,” she said, turning her head away.
A wizard. He probably thought her a fool for having reached for a spell beyond her grasp, especially considering her current state. It would fade, but the current repercussions became increasingly embarrassing and frustrating. She exhaled softly, closing her eyes and shaking her head.
If Eirian had been any less composed, she might have shrieked when Kaiya suddenly appeared beside her. Instead, her body tensed, and her gaze shifted from Aethen to the other woman. One hand over her ear, Eirian watched Kaiya’s lips move and, once the stopped, her cheeks flushed. She offered some attempt at a gracious smile and accepted the potion; she understood a few words here and there, but it was better than nothing, and certainly enough to get the gist of the statement.
“Oh, um, thank you,” she said. “I managed to lose my hearing in my escape earlier, so…”
Eirian removed the cork and downed the potion, feeling its warmth spreading out through her body. It was enough to help with the lesser cuts, although the potion could do little to nothing against the larger gashes. She didn’t mind, though; the sooner she healed, the better.
Her attention returned to Aethen as he disappeared, her eyes watching him as he stopped at one of the other women. Astrid, perhaps? She stared at him for a few seconds, curious regarding his motivation. Eirian was more certain now that he had not been with them at the initial gathering—when, then, had he joined them? How much did he know? Whatever the case, Eirian found herself somewhat intrigued by him, even if she most certainly did not trust him.
Still…perhaps there were things he could teach her.
Eirian winced a bit as fractions of DKay’s shouts reached her ears. Something about leaving? She wasn’t completely certain, and she wondered why he was giving them orders. Vesper was around, wasn’t she? Even if she still doubted the girl’s leadership capabilities, she wasn’t necessarily all right with someone else forcing the lead.In any event, she supposed that she ought to get up and start moving, if her leg would allow that, anyway.

When you have all the ice you could ever want...
Kaiya flinched and looked up and over at Vesper’s shriek, checking to see what was wrong. There were no city guards around (though after that shriek, they might come to see what was going on around the lake) and there were enough people around Vesper that anything small enough to be hiding in the reeds ought to be easy enough to take care of. She was paying so much attention to Vesper that she almost missed Eirian’s thanks for the potion. Turning towards the pisces, the gemini smiled and nodded her head to show her understanding. It was probably better that Eirian hadn’t heard her rambling. It wouldn’t make the woman think Kaiya was such as much of a socially inept girl as she was.
Dkay’s sudden shouted orders made Kaiya flinch again. What was it with people and raising their voices? It wasn’t as if their group was so spread out as to not hear each other. Besides, he needed to work on his language: a little bit of soap would clean that dirty mouth right out. Not that she would be the one to suggest it right this moment with his fractious attitude. Still, she had to admit she was happy to be leaving; lounging around so close to Mirr with the stolen relic hidden in her bag just didn’t seem all that safe.
Easily standing, she considered his words. A partner? Well, Eirian was right next to her, so maybe they could be partners for now. She offered a hand to help the injured wizard up and spoke slowly, hoping that some of what she said might be understood.
“Would you like to be partners? Since we’re already here together it seems logical to pair up for now.”
...the only thing you need is a grand adventure.
