Yeah, it's true. It's not because my mother is a fan of Twilight. She's tried to read the book because all her students have read it, and can't get past the first book. She's still trying though, to prove me wrong (I keep telling her it's terrible, but that's just made it worse). What she says whenever I make fun of Twilight around her is "Don't be mean to *Blah blah blah*." (Yeah, bleeping the name here.) This person is the sister of a friend of mine, who loves Twilight.
I might not be even talking at all about the fans, and I try not to, but she'll still say it. Why? No idea. I think another reason why is that, sadly, this book has helped some of her students start reading. She teaches at an alternative school, and a lot of the students she has tell her that they didn't really read until this book came around.
Yes. I cry for my generation as well.
So, is it wrong to make fun of Twilight, even if nobody who likes it is around, and it has nothing to do with the fans?

From what I see, it isn't wrong to mock Twilight. There's always going to be weak parts and strong points of a book. If it helped some of her students on getting starting then it helped on getting some of her students. Most of the people in my class only read Twilight because they thought the movie was soooo good. Most of them probably weren't even reading for fun. They were just reading words. So maybe her students only read it because of the movie.

Weird how a shitty book actually gets people to read. For me, it's either the art work or the description on the back. Ω

My mom won't let me insult it either, because we need "positive things to talk about".....is there really anything "positive" happening in this country right now?
+Girls are ruining their lives trying to find abusive boyfriends like Eduardo +The economy's shutting down, and we'll probably be in another great depresseion soon +We're in a WAR that's killing millions of innocent people +Child stars are wanting to be hookers when they're 18 (Miley Cyrus), or they're already mothers (Jaime Lynn Spears)
Seriously people, what's there to be positive about!?

Oh, gawd. An optimist. Tell her that pessimists are people who have become familiar with optimists. Such as herself.
Or just tell her that you have the right of free speech, as does she, and that you are allowed to state your opinion. Just don't be like " I CAN DO WHAT I WAAANT "
