"good all done." she said when they were finished Lorna then nodded but had an idea "how bout while I go get Ares you think up a name for him." she suggested, it was something special when the zoid received a name, instead of just calling it the make and model of the zoid.
Lorna slipped down to the floor easily and went to get Ares. Once in the cockpit of her own Zoid the cockpit closed and the Zoid took a step forward and moved to toward the hangar doors.
"Let's get going." she flicked the com on.

Chase was already one step ahead of Lorna as he had been trying to think of a name to call the liger. So while she went to fetch her own Zoid, he continued to brainstorm. It didn't take too long before something came to mind.
"Aegis. That's what I'll call you. How's that sound?" he said quietly to the Shield liger, who soon responded with a low mechanical growl of approval.
"Then that settles it!"
Hearing Lorna's voice once more, Chase glanced up to see her on the com. Nodding, he grabbed a hold of the controls for the first time and ushered Aegis to head on towards the doors.
"Lead the way Lorna."

"what'd you name 'im?" Lorna asked out of curiosity as they left the hangar. Even Ares had been itching for some air it seemed. The Gun sniper stretched once before it started walking again. "This way." she replied as Are walked. Just outside the base there was a lot of room to run so it would be good for the Liger and Chase could get a feel for the Zoid.
"Ah here we are." she said simply. She'd just watch, couldn't risk anything exploding. Ammo was expensive and she'd rather it not come out of her paycheck.

"I went ahead with Aegis," Chase replied proudly. It seemed fitting after all. With the liger, he should be able to help protect his comrads and possibly civilians and all.
Once they were out in the field, the cadet took a few moments to look around. There was a lot of open area so there was plenty of room for Aegis to get a good run in.
"Are you ready, boy? Let's go!"
Letting out its first roar, the Shield Liger soon burst out into a full run. Though he had piloted some of the rental and training zoids before, he felt exhilarated to actually be doing this. It was almost the same feeling he got when he first tried to fly one of the rental Pteras.
I'll be in the sky again one day, but for now, Aegis will do perfectly, he thought to himself before letting out a shout of glee. He couldn't help it really.
The liger's movements weren't as smooth as they could have been, but that was to be expected with this being the first time Chase has piloted one. It was similar to using a command wolf, but being considerably larger, there were a number of differences as well.

"Very fittin." Lorna agreed moving Ares out of the way so Chase could get Aegis moving without worrying about running into another zoid. Lorna chuckled a but at his enthusiasm. But she had been that way, even though the snipers weren't really meant for running the same way the liger were when she had gotten Ares she couldn't wait to get him out and practice with him.
Lorna noticed the subtle shaky movements. "Hold firm on the controls." she spoke over the com trying to help im steady the liger.

Hearing the tidbit of advice, Chase nodded as he tightened his hold on the controls. It wasn't the easiest thing to do at the speed he was going, but he was certain he'd get used to handling Aegis more as time went on. Slowly, the liger's movements smoothed out to somewhat of a graceful gait. Well at least as graceful as a giant mechanical cat can be.
After running around the open field some, Chase came to a slow halt not too far from where Lorna and Ares stood.
"Whew! I have to say that was quite a rush," he beamed, "This is definitely the start of a bright future I'd say."

"Not bad for your first try." she agreed "If you're done we should head back to the hanger." The Zoid did seem to get smoother when he tried to tighten his grip on the controls. Ligers were built to be fast mobile and strong. They were too fast for her liking. Lorna was happy with Ares.
"Good stop though, you seem to get the hang of things quickly." she smiled as she waited for Chase's response. He certainly was enthusiastic. "It is indeed the start of something big for you."

The adrenaline rush he got from the run was starting to wear off, but Chase still felt rather exhilarated with the experience. With a smile, he nodded to Lorna. He knew the run wasn't all too great in terms of skill, but he was already getting a hang of how Aegis handled. And he'd only get better at it each time he went out with the zoid.
"Thanks. Hopefully it won't be too long before I have my first mission with this boy. Then I'll really be able to push us to see what we're capable of and such."
With a content sigh, he turned Aegis towards the hangar. In a way, he wondered if the zoid felt anything similar to how he felt. It might have just been a machine, but the complexity of the AI surprised him at times. But machine or no, he had himself a new partner, and a good one at that.

"It'll most likely be a scouting mission." she chuckled "Then you can run all you want." Ares walked forward at a decent pace. At least Chase had fun with Aegis for the first time."The Ai will be a new experience for you as well, It'll surprise you with maybe a quirk or two." Ares had a few quirks himself when he was used in combat, she found that out when she was practicing with blanks.
As the pair of zoids walked back into the hanger Lorna smiled quietly to herself, it had been good to get outside just for fun and watch some one with more youthful energy pilot a new liger.

"Hehe yeah, though I'd be happy to do a scouting or patrol type mission. I wouldn't expect anything big for my first with Aegis anyway," he replied with a nod. At Lorna's other comment, he soon began to speculate what sorts of quirks the Liger may have. Though, he had plenty of time to see what sort of personality the zoid possessed.
Once he was back in the hangar, he set Aegis back to where he was an sat back in the cockpit seat for a little longer.
"Well, that was certainly fun. Oh, and thanks for the tips," he said.

Lorna couldn't help but smile as she steered Ares back in his spot. Before she was about to flick off the com she recieve the message of thanks from Chase. "Yer welcome Chase." she spoke calmly "I wish ye luck when ye receive yer first mission." with that she flicked the com off and Ares's cockpit opened and Lorna slipped out. She gave Chase a wave before she headed off.
