Officer Magnezone greeted Team Harmony back the the guild, and the Magnemites took the Dittos off of their hands.

"Bzzzzttt, here's the bounty on Ghost bzzzzt" He told the team, and handed them a bag of 3,000 PD. "Some thankful inhabitants of the bzzzt manor also asked for us to give you these. zzzz"

He handed them something wrapped in a Reaper Cloth and it was revealed to be an Old Gateau inside. From one of the fallen dittos the team also found a bag of Metal Powder.

Noelle, Dash, and Odyssey all arrived at the Bulletin Board shortly after Dash had gotten back from the pool and carefully looked around the board for an interesting mission.

”I don’t see one that I like, Noelle.” Dash said, folding his stubby arms into a pout. The Vaporeon sighed, then spat a tiny stream of water on his head, showing her annoyance. She wasn’t in the mood to deal with her co-captain. But the more she looked at the Bulletin Board, the more she realized that Dash was right. Contrary to his appearance and personality, Dash was actually really smart, and somehow could read the whole board in mere seconds. That, or he judged all of them after reading one.

”Huh, I guess you’re right Dash,” She tapped her chin with a paw and looked to Odyssey. ”Is it alright if we come back tomorrow, Odyssey? I know you wanted to take a mission today, but right now there’s nothing that’s worth our time to do.” She said, shrugging, taking a quick look at the board. ”See, lookit this one. ‘Please give me an Oran Berry.’ PFT. Go get one on the ground yourself, you lazy!” Noelle stomped on the ground, but sighed when she became aware that she was lazy herself, thus a hypocrite.

Odyssey nodded. ”That’s fine by me.” He said, no expression on his face. The three started to walk away when Noelle bumped into a Misdreavus. (Though you would probably go right through it.)

”Oh- Sorry. I’m lost…Could you point me in the direction of the Bulletin Board? I have something urgent to put up there.” The Misdreavus looked frightened, and fidgeted from her floating position, holding a weathered piece of paper in a ghostly limb.

Odyssey looked her up and down. ”A rescue mission? We’ll be glad to take it, if that’s your purpose for coming here.” The Lucario outstretched his hand to accept the piece of paper.

The Misdreavus’s eyes lit up, and she gladly gave the mission to Team Glacé. ”Thank you so much!” She said, obviously extremely thankful. Noelle took the paper from Odyssey and read it aloud. ”This Clefable learned Shadow Ball and she’s been running around the mansion attacking us! I don’t know what she’s got against us, but she’s trying to kill us.” Her eyes grew wide, and she handed the mission back to Odyssey.

”Come now, we have to hurry.” The Lucario said, quickly turning to the Misdreavus. ”Will you please show us the way to the mansion?” He asked, in which the frightened Misdreavus nodded to, and floated away quickly in the direction of the Haunted Manor.

-

”Here it is, Team Glacé.” The Misdreavus said as they arrived. She turned her head towards the large building not to far from the place where they were standing. ”The Haunted Manor. It’s a very scary place, are you sure you’ll be alright? Oh, by the way, I’m Maria.” She asked the group, mostly directing the question towards Dash.

”Of course I’ll be alright! Whaddya think I am, five? I’m actually six thank you very much!” After the outburst, Dash folded his arms across his chest again, and turned around. Maria looked surprised, then shook her head in embarrassment.

Noelle laughed weakly, then put a paw on Dash’s head. ”Uh, yeah, we’ll be fine.” She said, smiling awkwardly. She didn’t like covering for Dash, but she wanted to make a good impression.

Maria nodded. ”Okay. Well, I’d like to help you further, but I really can’t risk doing anything drastic.” She said, blushing. ”I’ll tell the other Misdreavus to help you, but that’s all I can do. I have to get home and make sure little Hansel is alright. “ She nodded once more, then floated away, but stopped halfway, and turned back to the team. ”Thank you, by the way.” She said quickly, then returned to the mansion.

”Well, there’s no use in standing here.” Noelle mentioned as she started walking towards the dark manor. Odyssey looked at Dash, then nodded and started walking, hoping that Dash would follow. He wasn’t exactly good with children.

-

The manor was only very slightly lit, the only light source being the bits of sunlight coming through the cracks in the windows. The team walked in warily, ignoring the loud creaking of the floorboards beneath them.

Inside, the place was just covered in cobwebs and spider webs, big and small. The whole house had a thick layer of dust, and every step sent up a cloud of it. The furniture lay in shambles on the ground, overturned, parts missing, and broken. Dash frowned at his surroundings. He was much more accustomed to happier surroundings.

”This place has bad aura. Probably from all the ghost Pokemon.” Odyssey said as he placed a hand on the floor. But he was right. The house just gave off bad vibes. He shook his head. ”But that isn’t what we came here for. You two know what to do?” The Lucario asked, turning towards his teammates. Noelle and Dash nodded.

”I bet I can find it first!” Dash shouted out. It echoed through the whole place. Noelle quickly put a paw over his mouth. ”It’s not a competition. And keep your yap shut! We don’t want any trouble.” Noelle said in a harsh whisper. ”There’s a ton of ghost Pokemon in here.”

”Speak of the devil~” A seductive, witch-like voice rang out, and in front of them appeared a Shuppet, followed by two others. ”Ooh~ Outsiders! You’ll make a tasty snack for Adeline. My darlings, get them~!” The main Shuppet called, laughing maniacally.

Odyssey growled and charged up an Aura Sphere, while Noelle fired an Aurora Beam up and froze the skirt of one, sending it downward from the lack of mobility. Dash then Thundershocked it, followed by another Aurora Beam from Noelle. It sank into the ground, leaving the last one, which was quickly brought down by a strong Aura Sphere from Odyssey.

”Oh, lookee here, these pretties were very strong to have defeated my kind. How about some more~ Heeheehee!” The Shuppet said again, and two more Shuppet coming out from the wall behind her.

Noelle grinned. She could do this forever. The Shuppet were extremely weak, and could be taken down easily. Odyssey began by firing a weak Aura Sphere, claiming this one without words. Noelle understood, and shot out a huge burst of water in the form of a Hydro Pump, hitting it directly. It flew back into the wall, but it would come back eventually.

Odyssey’s Shuppet on the other hand, was not so fond of retreating. It came as fast as it could to attack the Lucario, but he kept deflecting the hits with a Force Palm, and slowly weakened the Shuppet to the point that it stumbled to the ground. Odyssey then finished it off with a Dragon Pulse. It seemed to affect also the other Shuppet that was coming out of the wall and knocked it out as well.

Adeline, the lead Shuppet, groaned. ”Oh, dearie me. It seems like I’m outnumbered now… Hmph, I guess I shall make my way home~” There was another fit of demonic laughter. Odyssey rushed forward quickly and tried to make a futile attack towards the Shuppet, but it had already gone with a crack.

Odyssey growled, but stood up straight. ”That’s not a problem. Let’s keep going.” He said, going forward to the staircase, and putting a foot on the first step. It seemed like he was very intent on finishing the mission.

Well, he was the one who wanted to take a mission in the first place. Everyone else on the team is very lazy and it doesn’t matter that a mission isn’t taken, or taken for that matter. The whole team as of now had a ‘go with the flow’ attitude towards everything. But since Odyssey arrival, everything is more fast-paced. They were getting missions done quicker and easier. Noelle remembered that he said, ‘I feel useless when I’m not doing anything’ so since that, she made it a habit not to mess with him about that.

-

”Nyah~” Dash said as he yawned and stretched. He fell back onto the ground and dust arose in a cloud around him. After a small fit of coughing, he complained, ”I’m tiiiiired.”

Noelle sighed, and then smacked him upside the head. ”You’re the one who wanted to come. I would’ve been perfectly fine not having you dragging along. I was nice enough to have you come, so you just shut up.” She said, sitting down, her back straight.

Dash frowned. ”I like Tessa better.” He crossed his arms and sat down. He heard Noelle sigh, and he smiled. She would get angry, then let him have whatever he wants. He snickered, then waited for a few moments, letting it sink in, then turned around. ”Oh, Noelle I forgi—WHERE’D YA GO?!” He got up lightning fast and ran around in circles looking for a familiar face, making a dust cloud, which limited his visibility.

Just then, he saw a purple ball of power similar to Odyssey’s Aura Sphere pass by him. He jumped up, trying to look up over the dust cloud he made and expected to find Odyssey, but didn’t. He walked in the direction that the ball came from, and came face to face with a dark purple Clefable. Dash laughed, then poked the soft belly of the Clefable. He giggled, then went in for another poke when the Clefable let out a roar-type warning and opened it’s mouth wide.

Dash, completely forgetting his panic of losing his team members, laughed, and opened his mouth as wide as he could, trying to imitate the Clefable. What he couldn’t imitate, however, was the purple ball of energy that was forming from the Clefable’s open mouth. It then shot it towards Dash.

It was good that Dash was fast, as he jumped out of the way of the attack as soon as he realized it was coming for him. He slid on the dusty ground, sending up another cloud of dust, just as the other one was going away. He heard the Clefable cough, and he summoned the energy from his cheek pouches and directed it towards the purple Pokemon. He looked up, and instead of the foe being electrocuted, it was actually soaking wet.

”What the heck have you got yourself into, Dash?” Noelle said, closely followed by Odyssey. Dash gasped, then pounced on Noelle’s head, attaching himself there. The Vaporeon couldn’t see that well, but still managed to fire an Aurora Beam. ”I’m sorry Noelle! I poked it and it attacked me!” Dash said, cowering in fear atop his team leader’s head.

Noelle gasped; she could’ve sworn the purple Clefable’s red eyes turn black. She shook her head violently to get Dash off to get a better look.

Odyssey must’ve witnessed it too. ”Did…Did you see that as well, Noelle? It…Uh, it’s seems possessed.” The Lucario said, pausing only for a second before deflecting off another Shadow Ball with the Bone Rush he had conjured earlier.

Noelle nodded. ”Either that or a Heart Swap gone wrong.” She said, sarcastically. She blinked, realizing that she had the power to Heart Swap now, since the guild went to the Mana Reefs. Was she seriously thinking of pulling off a Heart Swap?

The Vaporeon closed her eyes and thought about the Clefable, and how maybe the actual soul of the Clefable was somewhere else. Her skin felt warm, and her eyes glowed as she opened them. As the sheen faded away, she heard Odyssey scream in a high pitch. She turned, completely confused at why Odyssey had made that noise, and got hit with a Shadow Ball. She slid back a little bit on the dusty floor, and then retaliated with a Hydro Pump, sending it through the wall. Apparently her her Heart Swap didn’t work.

”WHOA! I didn’t know Pichu’s evolved into Lucario! Yeah! Then I guess Lucario evolve back into a Pichu.” Dash’s voice sounded from Odyssey’s body. He jumped around in the Lucario body and fell face first onto the ground.

Crap. She said, finally realizing what she had done. She looked apologetically at Odyssey, which he met with a deep frown. She concentrated and tried to undo the Heart Swap, which she did successfully. It just took her a while.

”You…you used the Heart Swap TM?” Odyssey asked, clenching and unclenching his fists. ”I don’t think it’s actually a heart swap.”[/color Noelle nodded, then sprayed a light stream of water at Dash, who began screaming, ‘I DE-EVOLVED’ over and over again. He rolled on the ground, and then a Shadow Ball hit him. Odyssey immediately retaliated with a swift punch to the Clefable’s face.

Noelle scoffed. ”Does this thing know anything besides Shadow Ball?” She shot out a quick Aurora Beam to the feet and rushed forward to Body Slam it, followed by an Aura Sphere from Odyssey. By now, Dash had gotten up and quickly got revenge with a Thundershock.

”Tell me you saw it that time Odyssey.” Noelle said to the Lucario as the Clefables eyes flickered into black again. ”You were right, I’m sure it’s possessed.” Noelle said, putting a paw on Dash’s head to prevent him from attacking again. ”So, what do we do?”

Odyssey only had to think for a moment before it was all processed into his brain. ”Well, I say we just keep attacking it. Because when we damaged it enough, its eyes went back to normal. What I’m thinking we do is either attack it full blast all at once to eliminate whatever it is being possessed by. Or—“ Odyssey put his finger up to speak once more, but was interrupted by Noelle, like many other times. ”Alright, we’re doing it that way Odyssey. Ready up your strongest attack.” Odyssey was about to say something, but changed his mind. Noelle would never listen.

Dash’s cheeks crackled with electricity, and after forming swords with Bone Rush, Odyssey used Swords Dance and readied up his attack. Noelle counted down from three, and the team hit the possessed Clefable with everything they had.

The dust cleared just in time for the three to see a purple spirit coming out of the now-pink Clefable. Odyssey smirked. He’d known he was right.

”Oh my golly gosh!
Thank you lots for saving me!
I was a bit scared.”

Noelle thought that the way the Clefable said everything sounded weird, the way it didn’t seem natural, and how there were pauses in between sentences. She tapped her chin in thought, then counted the syllables. Ha, just as she thought. It was a haiku.

”Really? A haiku?
You’ve got to be kidding me.
I should have known. Geez.”

The Vaporeon said while rolling her eyes. Dash found this very funny, and started rolling on the ground with laughter. Noelle was about to ask what seriously happened, but Dash decided to try this haiku thing for himself. He did know what it was, Tiki had told him, but no one knew how well he could remember things told to him.

”I am very bored.
Do you have a crayon here?
I want to use it.”

Dash recited accurately. Noelle nodded, impressed at Dash’s memory, but cut any more speech off with a swish of her tail. ”Alright, that was fun, wasn’t it?” She said sarcastically. ”Knock off the haiku business, everyone. Now, you. Clefable. What’s your name and tell us how you got here.”

Dash grew impatient with all this boring talk and went over to Odyssey to practice his haikus.

”I apologize,
But me, I speak in haikus.
I can’t control it.”

Noelle took a deep breath. PFFT. Get a load of this crap, She said to herself. Of course you can control if you talk in haikus or not.

”Oh, but I can’t, dear.
Please, you have to understand.
I can’t control it.”

The Vaporeon’s jaw dropped. ”What?!” She asked, clearly confused and in need of answers, right now.

”I don’t understand!
Why did you say what just now?
I did nothing wrong.”

Noelle shook her head, and beckoned Dash and Odyssey to her side. ”You still haven’t told me what happened. Or even what your name is.” Licking her paw, she motioned for the Clefable to continue.

”Names? I’m April May.
But you can call me April.
Or May, if you’d like.

I don’t know much.
Yeah, I was eating at home.
And now I am here!”

The Clefable said, raising her arms up into the air as if expecting applause. None was given however, but there was the now-familiar sound of ghosts coming through the wall right behind them. Dash turned around quickly and giggled. ”You are Mary! Or… at least I think you are.”

The Misdreavus nodded. ”I heard you guys through the wall. I would like to thank you on behalf of all the good Pokemon, like me, in this manor. Your favor is greatly appreciated. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get your rewards. I’ll be right back.” Mary floated back into the wall.

Noelle almost took this as a chance to tell her team how great they did, and how well everything worked out, and was going to neglect to mention anything about this weird…April May creature. She turned around to speak, opened her mouth, and breathed in as she was about to speak, then closed her mouth and turned back around, facing the wall awaiting Mary.

Noelle isn’t that nice.

[ Meh. I know I got lazy with the enemies, and I know the end was rushed, so you don't have to tell me that, Cy. xD But I'd like feedback, please. 8D ]

Maria (or Mary, as Dash called her) phased back through the wall a short time later with a fine silk scarf wrapped around a small jar. It's contents were somewhere between liquid and solid, though they more of a fluid than a solid. "If you drink this, your voice should come out beautifully when you want it to." She left through a nearby wall with a brief giggle.

The Clefable stood, lost in thought. As if something had come to her, she snapped her fingers and began to speak.
"You know, I thank you
You really helped me out there
Even though I hurt you.

Hmm, I'm wondering
Perhaps by chance, could I join?
What I mean's your team.
"

A lone Shuppet came as well, offering apologies for earlier offenses. It seems to want to join your team.

Though, of course, you may only take one recruit.

Noelle & Dash & Odyssey

The three received the reward from Maria, Noelle curling her tail around it. Dash tried to steal it and drink it's contents, claiming that he 'wanted to have a beautiful voice.' Noelle smacked him and he drew back his greedy claws, muttering something. This would go in the chest in their team room. Maria said her thanks and left.

The team was about to leave as well, but April May came hobbling over, looking helpless and confused, asking if she could join. "Hmm, I suppose. I mean, look at you, you're helpless!" Noelle said, sighing.

"Whee! Thank you so much!
This is gonna be so fun!
You won't regret this!

I'm not as stupid
As you three guys think I am,
...Hopefully, I hope."

Noelle scoffed. That was a horrible haiku. She sighed, threw the bottle at Dash, hoping that the thick glass would hold out if he dropped it, and led the team back to the guild.

Claimed & Posted.

Client: Swablu
Mission:
"Oh dear, um, a bunch of ghost scared me so much I dropped my pretty Red Shard! Please get it back for me... I miss it."
Floor: Item last seen on floor 17
Dungeon: Haunted Manor
Rewards: 1000PD+Dawn Stone

The regular life of the rescue team continued. That is, the bored one. The dull heat of the summer sucked the life out of the team, leaving them listless and apathetic. All four simply lay on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. It was the kind of heat and atmosphere that simply sucked out one's will to live. “I'm bored.

The announcement came without warning or response. Urist pushed himself up off the ground, looking at the rest of his team. “Let's take a mission.” Dennis righted himself with a heave. “Yeah, alright.” The two men of the team looked at the two girls. Lyn was still lying on her back motionless. Chelsea had curled up against her bag and had, at some point, fallen asleep.

Hey, wake up.” Urist poked the Teddiursa in the side. She absent-mindedly rolled herself up the bag until she fell off the flattened bottom with a thud. Gwendolyn came up suddenly with a lurch, her body twisting as she tried to locate the source of the sound. Chelsea's hands shot to the back of her head. “Ow...

Come on, we're going to take a mission.” Chelsea stood up and yawned loudly, her hands still rubbing the back of her head. “Oh, okay mister Urist.” Lyn walked up beside her, seeming similarly dazed. “Oh...” She paused slightly as she raised one hand to her mouth and yawned. “Okay then.

And so, the sleepy team left their room for the bulletin board.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They reached the Bulletin board in short order. Chelsea had already packed her bag with a small assortment of berries and apples along with, of course, a small pot of honey. She had gotten the bag when she went back to her home to get some honey in the first place and she always made a mission of having some on her at all times.
The Teddiursa lightly sucked on her paw as the team approached the board. They were, immediately, assailed by a Farfetch'd. “It's YOU!” Steven the Board Keeper raised one wing to point at the Mankey with his leek. “You're the kid who keeps tearing everything down whenever I leave! Stop that! Get away, you'll ruin my board again!
Oh yeah, and what are you going to do about it!?” Steven stomped one of his feet and charged at Urist angrily. The Mankey assumed a defensive posture but realized better with a word from his team. “U... Urist, don't get into a fight with the staff... please...” With a glance back at his Snorunt partner, his arms slackened and he proceeded to run away from the Farfetch'd. Who continued chasing him.
Lyn sighed as Chelsea and Dennis watched the chase. She couldn't exactly attack either of them... If she was caught attacking a staff member, she'd be in big trouble even if he did start it. With another sigh, she turned back to the board. Maybe the best thing to do was just to pick out a mission so they could leave before anything happened.
Her eyes lit up as they settled on one mission. She didn't even read the objective or the location, just the reward. Dawn Stone. They were incredibly rare and valuable in her home. All female Snorunt turned to Froslass eventually and the stones used to do so were exceedingly rare on the mountain. You were considered an adult once you found a Dawn Stone and evolved, and there weren't very many adults. In the few cases someone offered to sell or trade one away, parents would give almost everything they owned to secure one for their eldest daughter.
She tore the mission down from the board and ran over to Urist, waving it in her hand. “Urist! Urist, let's take this one!” She was excited. She was ecstatic about it. Urist grabbed the mission out of her hands and read it as he ran off. He didn't really like the mission. The rewards weren't that great, they'd have to go to some spooky manor and the client's request wasn't anything important.
But... he'd never seen her this excited before. Not about anything. Lyn just did not get excited; it wasn't in her nature. For some reason, she really, really wanted to take this mission. And Urist wasn't about to take that happiness away from her. “Alright, let's go!” Lyn nodded happily, a wide smile spreading across her face. Urist tore out of the hall with his team leaving not far behind.
Yeah, and don't come back! Never set foot in my hall again you damn Mankey!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They reached a small house sitting on the edge of town. It was quiet and a little beat-up looking. It was made of a simple, unpainted wood and was without windows or any real adornment besides a plain door. Urist banged on the door with one fist. “Hey! Anybody in there?

The door tilted inwards after a few bangs with a Swablu standing on the other side. He took a quick glance at each of the four before smiling. “You're a Rescue Team, right? You came for my ad?” Urist nodded. “Good, good!” The Swablu stepped outside, closing the door behind him. “You see, I left my Red Shard in the Haunted Manor. I was in there when some ghosts ambushed me and took it in the confusion. It was a gift from my mother, you see...” He rubbed the back of his head with slight embarrassment.

Um... What were you doing in the manor, to begin with?” The Swablu perked up slightly. “Well, I am...” He paused for a moment. “No, I was a member of a Rescue Team. We were in there on a mission.” He said it as a matter-of-fact. Urist started to say something, but the implications of “was” reached him. The Swablu WAS in a team, which means he wasn't anymore. Probably because of what happened in the manor.

Lyn nodded. “We'll get your shard back.” The Swablu dipped his head into a slight bow. “Thank you.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The four reached the haunted manor in good time. Although they hadn't the fortune of getting a ride as they had before, Dennis took it upon himself to carry the bag. Although Chelsea was still unwilling to let go of the bag herself, Dennis was short enough that he could fit under it snugly and carry it on his head by simply walking beside her.
They stood at the gates that would lead into the courtyard. An iron fence worked it's way around the manor, no doubt a result of it's original owner's desire for security. Each peg of the fence was capped at the top with a menacing looking spike, although many caps had rusted and either lost their point or disappeared entirely over time. Not that this made it any less menacing; in fact, it was quite the contrary. The rusty, aged appearance of the gate only helped reinforce one's terror.
Well, the two guy's terror. Lyn and Chelsea simply pushed the gate open and walked right in without fear or worry. Urist and Dennis stood at the other side of the gate, staring upwards at the manor. “Um... Are you two coming?” Urist and Dennis glanced at each other. They both knew it. They both knew why their feet were firmly rooted to the spot. That was a haunted mansion. It was full of ghosts and dead people! They didn't want to go in there. Ghosts were scary, after all.
But letting themselves be shown up by two girls was something they could not abide by. They both nodded to each other resolutely as they walked through the gates. “Pah! Not like ghosts exist! There's nothing to be afraid of!” The Mankey loudly proclaimed his intentions. Chelsea nodded to herself up ahead.
Yep! My momma always told me there's no dead people ghosts. All the things people call 'ghosts' are really just normal pokemon! They're just special. So there's nothing to be afraid of, 'cause everyone in there is just like us!
Lyn shook her head. “No, ghosts are real.” The two behind her stared at her as if she had said something incredulous. “They exist. They're nothing to be afraid of, but they exist. The spectres of the dead go lots of places.” Urist and Dennis once more glanced at each other, uncertain. But another look back at the two girls who forged ahead of them without fear and then back at each other had them moving forward, if nervously.
The door was pushed open with a heavy, ominous creak. The paint that had once covered it so brilliantly had faded and chipped over time, leaving an ominous testament to the fact that people had once lived there. And once died there, too.
A cloak room was what greeted them. A series of hooks stood on the wall, each one ready to take a hat or a jacket as the situation demanded. A large mat to rub one's feet off on covered the expanse of the area. Although one says mat, it was of course quite nice. Or it used to be. The mat had not been cared for for decades and had since attracted so much dirt and grime that the once brilliant colours had faded to a dull, nasty brown.
The cloak room ended in a pair of glass double doors that were rimmed by a golden curl which sat on the wonderful white door. Or, it was white once. The paint had chipped and blackened over time, leaving only a rough guess as to what it once was. The glass had been smashed probably years ago, for the remains had been cleaned up. The only evidence of the glass was the jagged edges left by what little held on.
The door opened, seemingly on it's own, with a creak. The four entered. Three were scared by the display. Two were driven on by manly confidence and the third clutched her bag tightly as she walked. Only Lyn was unaffected by the spooky atmosphere.
A staircase upwards was to their left. The hallway led off in three directions. The groups went straight forward. They didn't have any idea where they were going, after all; the client had merely said that his Red shard was missing and nothing more. He hadn't said where or what kind of pokemon had taken it; the best they could do was search around aimlessly until they found it or someone willing to help.
The walls and ceiling had been carved away further down the hallway. The wood was charred black, as if some great explosion had happened. The force must have blasted away the ceiling and the walls, because it looked as if some giant had punched through them. The floor was charred and covered in rubble, but fine otherwise. A gray Lopunny with white accents stood there, basked in an eerie light from the floor above.
((Some great explosion actually did happen. This area is from my first mission with Tolin, where about 50 drifloon Self-Destructed.))
H... Hello there.” Lyn waved at the Lopunny. It was then she first noticed something odd. The Lopunny's head was low, as if it had sunk into it's own shoulders. The head sat just high enough to make it distinct from the body, yet low enough to hide the characteristically stick-thin neck that most Lopunny had.
The Lopunny waved and smiled warmly. “Hello there. How are you?
We're pretty good! Miss Lopunny, would you happen to know where a Red Shard is?” The Lopunny pursed her lips and put a finger to them as if deep in thought. Finally, she gave a shrug. “I'm sorry, can't say that I do.
Awww.” Chelsea seemed downtrodden that the Lopunny didn't know where the Shard was. “But, you know, the dead don't know much.” The Lopunny cocked her head with a smile as the rest of the team stared at her in surprise and confusion.
Her two hands reached up, grabbing her heard firmly on either side. With a comical pop! her head came off. She held her head in front of her, her two blank lifeless eyes staring straight at the Snorunt. “After all, I've been here for hundreds of years!” The body pulled the head back and threw it as if pitching a baseball. The head flew towards the team, where it stopped just in front of it's leader and let out a wailing scream.
And the team let one out to match. “Ahhhh!” “Ahhhhhhh!” “Ukiiiii!” “Ahh!” All four fled, stumbling over one another and themselves and they scrambled all the way back to the entrance. A deep, foreboding cackling sounded from the Lopunny's direction, though none stopped to look.
All four were gasping for breath as they stood in the cloak room. “Ukikiiii! No way!” Urist started waving his hands frantically. “I'm not going back in there!” Between her heaving breathes, Lyn couldn't put up much of an argument. Chelsea sat beside her, looking as if she were on the verge of tears. “I wanna go home...
Lyn looked into the mansion and down the hallway where the Lopunny had been. She didn't want to go back there. None of them did, not in the slightest. Demonic ghost Lopunny were not exactly what the team would define as a “good time”. But she wanted to complete the mission; she wanted that reward. “I'm... I'm going back in.
She looked at her team. “If... If you want to stay, then that's fine. But I'm going back in.” She stepped back through the half-open door. A few glances between the party had Dennis following. “It's not safe if she's in there alone.
Urist watched as the two went in without him. He lightly pat Chelsea's head with one hand as the Snorunt and Shroomish left. The two bounded up the steps and out of sight right away.
It'll be alright...” He muttered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lyn turned to look back down the tall staircase. She could see the floor below them in the far-off distance. Dennis, thankfully, had come with her. Not that she had any ideas for finding the Shard besides “walk around and hope we get lucky”. There wasn't really any other way to go about it.

The pair walked down the endless system of hallways, sticking their heads into room after room. Beds and rotten sheets greeted them after every door. The occasional pokemon stayed inside, but through great fortune they managed to avoid any unnecessary conflicts by simply closing the door as fast and as quietly as they could.

Or so they thought. One time, they weren't quite so fortunate. After they closed the door, a slight “fsssh” sound came from behind them as if a gas was being forced through a small crack. They turned to see two large white eyes staring at them, with a floating tongue to match. The gastly wasted no time for talk, no time for courtesies; he merely charged. His tongue hit Dennis with a wet splortch on contact. “H... Hey! Get off of him!

Lyn started focusing. An attack, an attack... I need an attack! Her thoughts brought her back to the long gone times of staying in her village. Her mother had tried to show her how to use the Snorunt abilities, but she had never succeeded. Her mother had always told her what to do. “Just breathe out, dear. Breathe out your homeland.”

She had never managed to succeed. But, maybe now was the time to try? She pursed her lips and blew at the Gastly as hard as she could. It was somewhat less than effective. That is, it didn't do anything besides draw attention onto herself. The Gastly's tongue retreated, leaving Dennis on the ground and instead advanced upon Lyn. She took another breath in, and this one came out a little more as she had hoped. A small jet of snow shot out of her mouth and began swirling around him. He began to panic as his body slowly began to ice over. The thin sheet of ice began to trap him as it covered his body one inch at a time.

Eventually the Gastly had the good wisdom to flee. He bashed his way through one of the walls, leaving an icy shell behind. It was quick to flee the moment it realized that it was outmatched. “D... Dennis... Are you okay?

Dennis got back on his feet and just stared off into the distance for a few minutes. Lyn looked at him with concern until he finally spoke. “That was profoundly strange. I never want that to happen again.” He hopped up and continued walking down the hallway.

Their steps once more took them past rooms and doors and through the hallways of the Haunted Manor. It was that, in time, they eventually came upon a door much more luxurious than the rest. Although most of the rooms up until now had been bedrooms with plain, simple doors (or comparatively so for how rich the owners must have been) this one was quite luxurious. It stood wide and tall, sitting as an obvious beacon of significance.

The pair came to the doors, and with a precursory glance at one another pushed it open. It let them into a library. A massive library, one easily large enough to encompass smaller houses. Books were stacked at heights that dwarfed the very small Snorunt and Shroomish, with shelves lining each wall and some standing around the room itself, effectively splitting it apart. A small red glint slipped into the book shelves, hiding itself from view. “D... Dennis! I saw something!” Lyn ran to the bookcase, only to find that the Red Glint—whatever it had been—was already gone.

She jumped back with a start when she heard some strange shifting above her; a heavy-looking bound encyclopedia had fallen where she just was. Her eyes darted upwards to yet another glint of red that retreated into the shadows. “H... Hello? Is someone there?

Another volume slipped down from the bookcase, crashing to the ground behind her. She could hear small laughter coming from somewhere nearby although she couldn't quite pin it. A small puff could be heard elsewhere, followed by a slight crash. “Hey, I got him.

Lyn followed the source of the voice until it led her to the other side of the bookcase. A Sableye lay there buried in a small pile of books. His bright, red ruby eyes shone out from under the pile. “It was probably just this guy.

The slight giggling had ceased. Instead, it turned to whispers. Two ghosts came down from the ceiling; one Shuppet and one Misdreavus. “Hey! You shouldn't have done that to our friend!” “Yeah! He was just playing a joke!”

Dennis stared up at them. “Your joke could have seriously injured my friend. I don't find that funny.” The two ignored it. “It was just a harmless prank! Man, leave it alone!”

Dennis's emotionless face showed little of what he felt. He was quite angry. Angrier than he would have gotten for anyone else, most likely. He didn't take the “joke” lightly; it was an attack on Lyn. He tilted his body forward, shooting two seeds out of his tip. Each one settled inside of the ghost-types, as if suspended there. The two seeds cracked open and began to sprout vines.

“H... Hey!” The Shuppet was the first to realize what was happening. He watched the seed open open in his friend and begin to grow outwards, and he had the feeling the same was happening to him. “What'd you do to us!?”

Dennis just stared up at them. “Relax, it's just a joke. It won't hurt at all, it'll just make you a little tired.” Right on cue, the Misdreavus fell to the ground. The Shuppet started slowly drifting down himself until the seed took what little remained of his energy. “C'mon, let's go.

Lyn took one last look at the three before following Dennis as he left the Library. “R... Right.

Their journey down the hallway until it led to a large hole. The lights above them cast an eerie glow that felt familiar. It was the place where they had encountered the Lopunny earlier, although they were a floor up. The hole was far too large for them to travel over, though with the debris below... “Let's go down.

Lyn then, simply put, hopped off. The drop wasn't that large and the explosion had powdered much of the material around. It left her with a comfortable enough cushion for her fall and oh my what was that. Something small and brown intercepted her fall as she crashed to the earth. Lyn, dazed and confused, tried to regain her sense of balance after the crash. The Shedinja she had crashed into had begun righting itself

It turned around to look at her. A small, black ball formed in front of it and began pulsing, leading Lyn to a panic. However, a quick gust of Powder Snow later and it fell over. The surprise encounter had left her breathing hard with a heart that was moving a mile a minute. She looked up to see Dennis staring down. “It's... It's okay. It's safe.

Dennis hopped down in response. And so, the two continued onwards down the halls. It wasn't long before they found something significant. More precisely, the kitchen. Although the kitchen itself was empty, a pair of heavy locking doors sat on the other side. Lyn pulled one open (with considerable effort) and poked her head in; it was a massive freezer. Although all the food that likely once hung here was gone, the freezer itself was massive. Dennis merely glanced inside before adopting a look of scepticism. “It's probably a bad idea for me to go in there. I don't deal with the cold well.

It's... fine. I'll be alright, just wait for me here.” Lyn went inside, the heavy doors closing behind her. It was nice for her in there. The temperatures reminded her of home. And... something else reminded her of home, too.

H... Hello there.” A Froslass drifted benignly at the other side of the freezer. She looked familiar, for some reason. Someone friendly. She felt happy to speak with this one, for some reason. The Froslass waved one hand and waved with a smile. A slight, red glint was visible. “You're here for this, right?

The younger evolution gasped. Was... that the shard? She nodded joyfully. “Y... Yes! I was sent on a mission to find that!” The Froslass merely smiled. She glided over, the hems of her dress floating just above the ground. “Well, then. Congratulations on a completed mission.” She handed the shard to Lyn who took it happily. “T... Thank you! Thank you so much!

The Froslass smiled as the little Snorunt before her turned to run off to her companions. “Congratulations on your Dawn Stone.

Lyn turned around with a start. Dawn Stone? How did she know that...?

But, the Froslass had already disappeared.

Lyn stood still, looking into the freezer. She had been there just a moment ago... Well, whatever. She looked down at the broken red plate in her grasp. This was her Dawn Stone, in a way. This was her evolution!

She stepped outside of the freezer with the Shard above her head in both hands. “I found it, Dennis! Some nice Froslass inside gave it to me!” Dennis's face shifted from it's perpetual frown to a flat stare. “Good job. Let's head back.” With a slight nudge of his body, he closed the door behind her and they left the Kitchen. The entrance was not far away; merely a minute or two of walking.

She carried the Shard in her hands the entire way, a huge smile on her face. Urist and Chelsea had settled down in the cloak room, having chosen to pass the time by eating. “Hey Lyn, Mister Dennis! You found the shard?

Lyn waved the shard overhead in joy. “Yeah! A Froslass gave it to me!

Urist seemed the happiest of the four. “Good! Let's get out of this place and never come back!” All four were on agreement, at least on the “let's leave” part. The four headed out the front door and through the iron gate, closing it behind them. Lyn paused to look at the Manor as they left, and she swore she could see the faintest bit of blue at the tip. But when she blinked, it was gone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Froslass let on a sly grin as the four left. It's good to see she's doing well. It looks like she's found a good team... Her mother will be pleased.
With that one thought, the Froslass glided off into the distance to make her report.
Upon the team's arrival back to the guild, a Shuppet and Misdreavus had been waiting there for them with a rather awkward feeling expression on their faces.
They wanted to join, but they weren't sure how to ask after their encounter.
A Swablu came flying into the guild moments after to greet the team's return. It seemed rather ecstatic.
"Thank you so much for finding my Shard! I hope it wasn't too much trouble..."
“Nyaa~ Thank you for coming with me~”
The Meowth giggled joyously as he bounced around toward the entrance of the large, broken down manor. It seemed to be here for ages, and it didn’t seem like it’d last much longer.
“It’s fine, no problem.” Sai replied as she approached the large building, her eyes scanned it carefully. It was quite unwelcoming.
It was something about ghosts right?
“So, you say you /don’t/ believe in ghosts?” Sai asked curiously. Her head tilted off to the side. The Meowth came to a complete halt and turned to view her.
He shook his head, assured of his belief.
“Nope!”
Sai was silent for a moment; clearly not specific enough.
“So, you don’t believe in Ghost Pokemon.”
The Meowth began to bounce off again, stopping at the door. “Oooh~ Those yes, yes I do~ But REAL ghosts? No. No, no, no, never~”
Darius’ nerve was being pretty well beaten on, finally catching up to the two as the low growl in his throat vanished.
This Meowth’s behavior would be the death of him.
As they reached the door, Sai took a quick look around before pushing on it with her paw. It wouldn’t budge.
Sai growled. Her eyes began to motion around the door and the surrounding wall. It was completely sealed.
“Why in the world would someone lock a place like this?” She asked before her ears twitched in response to a weak shrilling sound and a new found pressure in the surrounding air.
As she turned, she ducked and Gungnir went flying through the doorway, breaking a few walls down at the same time before it vanished into thin air.
“WHAT ARE YOU DO—“
“--Problem solved. Can we go now?”
Darius was quick to cut her off as he passed her and walked on into the Mansion. The Meowth behind came skipping behind him with a slight giggle.
Sai, unable to find words used for such actions just sighed after a few seconds of remaining still and followed the two into the building.
Well. So far the inside looked…expected. The floors creaked, the windows were broken and hardly transparent anymore, lights hanging on a ceiling far too high up dangled on a frail chain and were either out, or very dim. The place didn’t smell all too welcoming either. It matched the dark, depressing manor well.
Sai maneuvered her way ahead of the Meowth and Darius as she carefully examined the floor. She turned back to the two shortly after.
“So, we’re going to the basement, correct? That sounds strange… I’d assume we’re on the main floor from the entrance so wouldn’t the basement be just below us?” She tilted her head in slight confusion as Darius lightly tapped the floor with the tip of his foot. It sounded hallow.
“Either there’s a number of floors below us or that’s the basement.” Darius replied. It wasn’t helpful at all, but it was true.
Sai tilted her head with a puzzled expression.
“Well… I guess we’ll be on our way. At least we know our general direction.”
With that, she turned and began to walk. To where? She didn’t know, but most things resulted in trial and error.
After a good hour or two of walking and two floors closer to their destination—one of which resulted in Darius just breaking through the floor out of anger and Sai quickly banned him from doing, Sai turned to look at the Meowth as they walked.
“Hey, I didn’t ask, but what’s your name?”
The Meowth’s ears twitched and he looked over at the Eevee. He smiled. “Me? I’m Kevi.”
Darius made a quick chuckle behind the two and the now irritated Meowth glared at him.
“Well Kevi, I’m Sai and that’s Darius.” Sai replied, disregarding Darius’ newfound amusement.
“It’s nice to meet ya~” Kevi nodded to Sai as she smiled and looked forward again.
Her expression darkened as her pace slowed to half steps. Her eyes locked on a picture on the wall to her right.
Kevi danced past in a small humming tune. Darius on the other hand slowed slightly as he followed him. His eyes though followed Sai in confusion.
Darius grabbed Kevi’s shoulder and he jumped slightly. “What!?” Kevi blinked, looking back at the Zangoose whose vision was still on Sai.
“What is it?” Darius asked as he ignored Kevi and let go of his shoulder. Kevi turned to the two and waited.
Sai didn’t respond. She stepped back and faced the picture with narrowed eyes. She stepped to the side right after and it’s eyes followed her. Sai gasped.
Darius growled as he reacted instantly, stabbing the picture with his claw and a Misdreavus appeared that same moment, flying out of the picture in a hysterical giggle as it danced around the hall.
Darius pulled his claw free from the wall and glared at it. What a b***h.
Kevi stared at it, completely derped out before laughing slightly at it’s actions. He found it funny but otherwise, he was entirely useless.
Sai shook her head. “Yeah, funny. Go bug someone else.” She whispered and began to walk off again.
“Funny, funny~”
The Misdreavus paused, glaring down at the group.
“You should know better than to trespass on our territory.”
Her voice darkened. A lot.
Sai paused and turned back to the strange Ghost. “Pardon?”
The Misdreavus began to laugh in her childish voice again before throwing an assault of Shadow Balls everywhere. Sai gasped before Quick Attacking in front of Kevi to threw a shield up as Darius dodged around the attacks, jumping at the Misdreavus.
“Oh~ You’re silly.”
Darius ignored the Misdreavus as he threw his fist into her and fell right through her. He quickly recovered from his fall and landed on his feet. Sadly, he was in fact slightly confused as to why that happened.
Sai shook her head, keeping the barrier up despite the Shadow Balls being long over.
“Darius, she’s a ghost.”
Darius growled at his own stupidity. Fighting Ghosts? He’s done it so rarely that he tried to physically assault her.
Darius stepped back as a gust began to pick up around him and the Misdreavus blinked. Zangooses with Special Attacks were rather odd to come by.
With that, the gust separated itself into thin blades of wind and the Misdreavus panicked, flying into the wall next to her as she finally understood what was happening. The wind blades just crashed into the wall and vanished upon impact.
Gungnir appeared in Darius’ paw and he threw it at the wall. The Misdreavus shrieked as the wall heated up and she flew out in pain.
While she was in panic, Darius attacked her with a Razor Wind again but this time making contact on her. Being limited to moves such as this really irritated him.
The Misdreavus shrieked and Sai let her barrier down.
“I think she’s done…” She turned to Kevi who shrugged. Her eyes returned back to Darius after who too just shrugged upon eye contact. Such a useful team.
The Misdreavus slowly fluttered lower to the ground in a slight shock. A Ghasly came out of a wall soon after at the sound of the shriek and flew at Darius only to be punched into the ground, paralyzed, and taken out by a Razor wind.
“I don’t know why you came here, but I do know you can’t leave now…”
She said with a sigh.
“Even if I can’t take you out, the others will~” The Misdreavus began to laugh again before there was a slight shake in the area and the team tensed.
“Now what’s happening?” Darius growled, disregarding the Misdreavus’ threat as he turned away and began to walk toward Sai and Kevi. It goes to figure since she released a massive Psywave just a moment later.
Darius felt the massive release of power and halted with a sigh. He turned to face the Misdreavus before getting hit with the assault and he held his ground for a good second or two before falling back on his behind.
Darius winced for a moment as he pulled himself up after the attack ended. A quick shockwave of psychic energy that felt like it lasted far too long pelted him pretty good.
Sai on the other hand ran into Kevi was a Quick Attack in order to knock him down before throwing up her barrier again. It lasted for about a second under pressure before breaking with a cracking sound, sending the two tumbling back once.
Sai sat up in slight confusion and shock, her head bobbing back and forth for a moment as Kevi sat up and groaned as he rubbed his head.
Sure, her mom’s shield could tank a Judgment and her’s couldn’t even take a Psywave.
The Misdreavus fell into hysterics again as she danced around in circles. Shadow Balls began to form around her again.
“Bye byee!-Uh?”
She blinked and the Shadow Balls vaporized in the air, as a card-like object pelted her in the chest. After a moment of silence, she laughed slightly.
“What was that?”
The card glowed and made a number of copies of itself, surrounding the now puzzled Misdreavus in a circle before exploding in a burst of light. The Misdreavus shrieked loudly and fell through the ground unconscious.
Darius blinked. What?
Sai growled slightly in the sudden silence. She stood behind him on her hind legs with most of her weight applied to her butt. In her paw she held a strange card of the same structure before it vanished into nothingness like the others.
“Trump card.” Sai smiled before any possible questions.
“I’ve used it before a few too many times.”
With that she dropped forward onto all fours and began to walk down the hall again.
“Let us continue.”
Darius walked over to Kevi as he stood. They had the same expression of confusion before shrugging it off and following the Eevee.
The mansion felt like it got bigger as the team progressed. How long were they here? They lost track. The lack of natural light threw off Sai’s perception of time pretty well and she was always good with these things. Thankfully, most of the Pokemon seemed so passive about their intrusion. Aside from that Misdreavus at least, but the team seemed to disregard that factor quickly.
Sai found another stairway and smiled in accomplishment. This one was almost hidden in the growing darkness.
“Well, it looks like we’ve made it to another floor.”
Sai stated as she turned to view Darius and Kevi. Kevi seemed to look slightly anxious and Darius was well, being Darius. Ignore everything until you need to pay attention.
“Well that’s a start… I hope we’re close…” Kevi muttered as he walked past Sai and down the stairs. Sai blinked as she watched him and turned back to Darius once Kevi was out of sight.
“What’s his problem?”
Darius’s ears twitched and he turned his eye to view the Eevee. He just shrugged.
“Kid’s prolly scared. “Oh! I can’t do this alone! I’m bad with directions!” Pff.” Darius snorted as he turned his eyes back forward to the stairs.
Missions weren’t his thing, if you didn’t catch that yet.
Sai’s eyes narrowed slightly before turning back and walking down the stairs.
“Jerk.”
“Runt.”
Sai hissed.
After a few moments of silence, Kevi screamed, causing both Sai and Darius to jump slightly.
“Why did he run off to begin with?” Sai growled as Darius made a series of Quick Attacks down the hall. Given his natural agility, he looked like he teleported a few times within that second and was out of sight.
Sai trotted after him.
Darius’ electric encased fist made instant contact with a large Shedinja towering over Kevi, who was now cowering on the ground.
The Shedinja was sent flying back into a wall. It’s static coated body slowly pulled away from the wall and turned to face the Zangoose.
s**t. Between the way it moved so slowly and made zero noise, Darius couldn’t help but shiver despite his no physical change of emotion.
Sai eventually caught up to the two and glanced at the Shedinja. Huh. How expecting.
“It seems aggressive.” She simply stated upon sitting down and Darius turned his head to glare at her as the air around him became more hostile.
“No s**t. This thing’s a ghost too right?”
“Yes.”
Darius sighed. Back to special attacking. With that the air separated itself into blades and ambushed the Shedinja who at the time was creating a Shadow Ball.
Around it’s body formed a barrier and the wind attack became ineffective.
Sai blinked and shook her head. That was… a bit surprising.
“It can apparently Protect itself. I don’t think this is a normal Shedinja.”
Was it a human’s? She didn’t know. But for it to know a TM, it was clear this Shedinja had a history… It was a Ghost type though. Maybe it died and came here?
Sai stood and it wasn’t until then that Kevi finally decided to get up and run back from the group and out of harm’s way.
The Shedinja finally released a rather large Shadow Ball at the two and both of them Quick Attacked out of the way in opposing directions. The Shedinja grew confused for a moment before locking on to the Eevee next to it.
Sai again used her Trump Card strategy on their new enemy. It worked last time, maybe it’s weak enough to take out this time too—or at least weaken it to some extent.
As she was about to release her attack, the Shedinja released a Shadow Sneak. Thankfully, Sai reacted quickly. She made another Quick Attack away from the shadow that rose from the ground upon her exit but instead of cutting off the Quick Attack, she jumped at the opposing wall, her speeding impact allowing her to grip on it for a solid second or two with her hind legs.
The old wall beneath her cracked slightly and Sai winced in anger as she released her Trump Card attack on the Shedinja. Needless to say it was one step ahead and used a Silver Wind on the wall she stood on.
Damned thing was apparently smart. The Shadow Sneak, the Silver Wind, quite the set up.
Sai’s eyes narrowed at it’s intention, her mind grasping the situation almost instantly. Sadly though, it worked. Sai wouldn’t have the time to get away from that with her positioning.
The wall she stood on shattered and sent the small Eevee flying back with it.
At that time, Darius hit the offguard Shedinja with a Razor wind in the back. It quickly bailed through the ground after the attack made contact, doing enough damage as was and it knew it couldn’t handle too much more.
Darius growled loudly as Gungnir appeared in his paw and he stabbed the spear through the ground the Shedinja escaped though. He was pissed having it get away after a stunt like that.
Kevi panicked as he ran over to the wall Sai went flying through.
“…S-Sai…?” He slowly peered through the hole but couldn’t see anything but darkness. Darius assumed he wouldn’t even get a reply. Given she hit another wall, hit the ground, anything at all, it was enough to send her unconscious.
Darius stood and walked over to Kevi. Gungnir, still stuck in the ground vanished upon Darius no longer making contact with it.
He looked into the hole as well, eyeing the assumed floor of the room on the other side. Kevi who went to walk forward was quickly stopped by him and Darius just shook his head.
“Sorry kid the floor caved in.” Darius growled as he turned. They couldn’t see, they didn’t know where they were or who was around; given the situation, they couldn’t be reckless.
“We’ll have to find her after finding the next flight.” Darius added before walking off.
Kevi’s expression saddened as he looked at Darius. He turned back to the hole for a moment, then Darius again before running after him.
Sai’s eyes opened weakly. Everything was blurry, but there was no smoke or dust floating around… That alone made her assume she was laying there for some time.
Sai stood shakily and almost fell over as she winced. Her front right paw was either sprained or broken, but since she could still somewhat use it it was safe to say it was just a sprain.
Of course by the end of this, it would most likely break. How unfortunate.
Sai wandered through the darkness cautiously and as quietly as possible. She couldn’t afford to upset any Pokemon although the wall and floor breaking might have already upset enough of them.
Each step resulted in a limp and a wince but the sooner she was reunited with her team, the better.
…Maybe she should start buying recall orbs.
Sai eventually wandered into a small room and looked about curiously. Now might have been a good time to rest.
She sighed, as she sat in the room and stared at the ground. She shouldn’t have gotten reckless. Attacking wasn’t her thing to begin with, she just formulated strategies quickly.
Sai shook her head. No use in worrying about it now.
Sai stood once again after a few minutes. Staying here allowed her mind to travel and she needed to find her team anyway.
She walked out of the room and limped her way down the hall. She came to a stop quickly though and looked up, her eyes catching a bluish figure standing out in the darkness slightly ahead of her.
“Dar—Huh...” Sai’s voice was as quiet as she blinked upon turning her head up. When she did, she went wide eyed, the creatures figure becoming clearer to her.
Sai backed away a bit. The figure didn’t move, it wasn’t even facing her, but she was flat out shocked and her heart was already pumping too fast for her small body to handle.
Sai’s eyes began to tear slightly. “How are… You’re dead…” Sai whimpered and the figure turned to her with a strict expression, needless to say this odd figure was her dead father.
He tilted his head slightly as he approached the Eevee.
“Why are you still alive? In that body as well?”
Sai fell back on her behind and scooted back against a wall. Even then she continued to try and move back as her purple pupils became no more than slits in her eyes.
Her father eventually stood over her. He was bigger than her mother. That alone was frightening enough.
“You look pathetic. What happened to the way you used to be back in the kingdom?”
Sai shook her head violently for a second and her father growled, his expression angering.
The change in her father’s expression alone caused her deathly fear to slowly climax into insanity. The insults were just a bonus.
“I told Epitaph we should have just killed them off until we had a son. Females are so fragile.” He sighed as he closed his eyes and shook his head.
“…What do you mean killed?” If Sai’s voice could crack, it would. It was almost too quiet to even be heard though.
His ears twitched as he opened one of his eyes and stared down on Sai again.
“What? did you assume you were the first born?"
Sai nodded her head slightly. Her father laughed and Sai closed her eyes tightly, lowering her head to bury it in her mane.
“Hardly. You were the fourth. Epitaph just couldn’t handle the idea of having children killed. You got lucky.”
“Bu-“ Sai picked her head up.
Her father’s figure began to become more transparent. He cursed under his breath as he turned to look at his tail and back over his shoulder before turning back to his daughter.
“You’re going to die anyway, why not consider getting it over with now instead? Maybe Ep will consider having another child that way.”
“Momma wouldn—“ Sai shook her head again as she looked back at her father.
“The others said that too.” He chuckled before his expression turned to one of madness.
“It went something like this~” He added as his body went up into harmless flames before swiftly throwing his head down to bite at his daughter.
Any sense of control Sai had at that point was released in a grave scream that echoed across the mansion. Her father couldn’t harm her, he couldn’t do anything. He was dead. He was gone by the time Sai screamed, turned into a ball for a moment then rolled back and forth in tears, spontaneous screams and begging for forgiveness. Eventually she laid on her stomach with her paws grabbing and yanking her ears with claws extended.
Now her paw was broken.
Her Pupils were nothing more than dots by this point, but the screaming the crying were still alive and well.
------------------
Darius and Kevi froze for a moment. Something screamed, but Darius was in denial almost instantly.
“Why can’t anything go right for once?” He hissed as Kevi became frantic and began to run toward the scream. It was obvious who it was, who else would it be?
“It doesn’t matter; at least we know where she is right?”
Kevi replied in a nervous tone before stopping and yelping slightly as a Froslass’ arm fazed through the wall in front of him. The surrounding wall and floor began to freeze and rather quickly causing Kevi run immediately run back and hide behind Darius.
The Froslass’ body became clear. She was rather angry and it was safe to assume she was disrupted by Sai’s screams.
“I really, really don’t want to fight you right now. Can this wait?”
Darius let out an exhausted moan before a series of icicles came flying at him and Kevi. He turned to grab Kevi and jumped out of the way, putting him down away from the Froslass as she began to freeze the air around herself again.
“Alright, alright.” Darius sighed as he jumped at the her with a Thunderpunch, only to hit the ground as she swiftly moved away and released another Ice Shard assault. Darius just jumped away again, taking minor hits to his arm as he landed beside her, his hand still conducting electricity as he slapped her into the wall. She just yelped and floated there for a moment in recovery.
Darius growled as he approached her and pulled back his fist to hit the Froslass again, but he paused instantly as her eyes began to glow. A faint aura began to form around himself as well.
“Sai! Sai wake up!”
Kevi yelped, picking the Eevee up. Her eyes were still wide, but thanks to her body somewhat relaxing; her pupils were just large and dilated.
Darius came up after him and stared at Sai in shock. A Haunter behind him that he’d taken out while finding Sai slowly floated up and down with small noises of pain.
What the ******** could have happened? Nothing made Sai freak out like that.
Kevi’s ears lowered as he cradled the Eevee and walked over to Darius.
“Let’s go back… I don’t need to keep going.” He said quietly as Darius closed his eyes and sighed. Gungnir appeared in his paw and he stabbed the ground with it. It was solid.
“Well... Whatever Sai saw, it was in the basement.” Darius stated as he shook his head, looking at the Meowth again.
“Well. Thank you for your help.”
Darius nodded as he walked over to Kevi and took the badge from the bag he held, teleporting the three back to the guild.
Kevi immediately headed off with a promise of a quick return. A quick glance at Sai was enough to make him not want to wait. "I'll be right back."
It took the Meowth a minute, but he ended up coming back with a bag of 2000 PD. A small something else rattled around inside. "Oh nya, I found something in the manor while we were going around. I thought you might like it, so I put it in with the PD. Well, see you later." Kevi looked back at Sai with a brief flash of concern and then went off, no doubt to do... whatever he was going to do.
Later, some pokemon arrived at their team room. They seemed to want to join. In all, there was a Misdreavus, a Ghastly and the Haunter.
Rewards!
2000 PD
Earthquake TM
Options: Misdreavus, Ghastly, Haunter
((Welll, some criticisms.
- It seemed like the Misdreavus early on was leading up to something, but it never really panned out to anything. It would have been nice to see it worked in somehow.
- Also, your characters seem to be rolling out attacks pretty fast without getting tired. I understand it for Darius who seems quite experienced, but has Sai gone through that much combat? Try to consider the wear & tear of fighting.
- Shadow ball is ghost which would not affect Normals, Trump card is Normal which would not affect ghosts ffffffff))
((Honestly, most issues went right over my head. Doing missions between sickness and late night typing doesn't appear to be my thing.
Some of the move issues I didn't take into consideration it seems. I'll blame last minute rushing since I did the last 14 pages in a straight run, but excuses aside, such issues won't happen anymore.
Sai is actually pretty athletic. Her issues(as of now) are mainly focused on "I don't like fighting".))
Darius blinked as he took the rewards from Kevi and nodded a thank you before he ran off. Sai remained cradled in his other arm against his chest. Still unresponsive.
Darius looked over at the group of Pokemon, he sighed after a moment and gestured a paw to the Misdreavus.
"You can join if you'd like. I'm just taking over for her for the moment." He said before addressing the location of their team room. The Misdreavus nodded happily and vanished through the wall.
With that he left for the Hospital. What else was there to do?
