The sky was blue and the sun was shining, but there was a steady breeze that rolled over the hills and through the forest. Inteus lay on the top of a hill, back to the forest, looking out at the open field before him. This field had trees on all sides, but it was plenty big for a few mustangs to run comfortably without feeling crowded. There were big brown and orange leaves being blown across the expanse, and those were what Tala was now chasing. Inteus lay comfortably, with his head resting on his knees, wolf pelt keeping his back warm, tail twitching every so often as he watched his little adoption. The little wolf pup ran after the fragile foliage and pounced on one whenever she could. She was a lively one, that much was true, but she had a very strong bond to Inteus already. He had only had her a few days, maybe a week or two, but the pup would run a little ways off and then come back to check he was still there. In fact, she did so just then.

Tala pounced on a particularly large maple leaf, one that envied her own height, but once it hit the ground under her weight her ears perked up and swivelled back towards her new parent. Satisfied that the leaf was 'dead', she turned on the spot and loped back over to Inteus as fast as her tiny paws would take her. She stumbled a few times along the way, but even that barely made her energy falter. She ran... straight into the big dun's nose. She stood there, with her paws on his soft nose and tongue lolling out, and looked into his dark eyes with her own bright ones, before she said just one word, "Momma!"

Inteus chuckled. Tala had been calling him that ever since the day after he took her in. That first day, she had been mopey and lethargic, probably sad about her real mother's death. But she had quickly let him adopt her, or rather, she adopted him.

He pushed his nose gently into the little wolf in a soft nuzzle, and sent her back on her way. She had checked in on him, and now turned back towards the open field to chase more leaves. A grin sat on his features as he breathed out in a deep sigh, What am I going to do with you?

Why had she gone through the forest again? Right, to get to a clearing faster, and yet she'd almost tripped over branches more then anything. There was some mud plastered on her legs, and by the frown the mare was giving she didn't like being dirty at all. Hopefully, there would be a small stream she could clean herself in, or she didn't know what she was going to do. Aelah kept treading through the leaves, the tree's finally breaking and out she stepped. Shaking herself as much as she could, Aelah glanced around. Ears swiveling, she missed the pup coming straight at her. In fact the pup ran straight into her front legs, which sent the mare bucking backwards out of spook. However, once she'd noticed what had actually ran into her, she calmed herself down, taking in a deep breath and making her way over to the pup which she'd probably scared half to death. Leaning her face down she nuzzled it once.

" I do apologize little one. Are you alright? "

The little stallion's eyes had begun to grow heavy, and as the sun's rays beat down upon him, warming his body, they began to droop more and more until he dozed off into a mid-day nap, ears still perked forwards for any danger.

Running into the horse had not bothered the pup, though it had stunned her for a moment, but the bucking definitely set her off. A terrified yip escaped her as she stumbled backwards, pushing out of the way of the bucking horse. Tala's eyes were wide with fear but she had fallen into a sitting position and dared not move when the mare she had bumped into loomed closer.

Tala's yip woke the stallion up with a start. He was instantly up on his feet and dashing forwards. He scanned the open space for the pup and saw a grey horse bucking a little ways off. Eyes narrowed, nostrils flaring, the angered stallion made it over in a matter of seconds. Once within easy speaking distance, Inteus began angrily with, "HEY! She's just-" but he cut himself off there when he realized that the other had calmed down and was only gently nuzzling the pup. ".... a mare...?" he ended more quietly and quizzically as he skid to a stop a few short paces behind the wolf pup.

His eyes quickly scanned the surrounding area and he came to the conclusion that the mare must have been the cause of Tala's fearful yip. But they both seemed calm now... well, Tala was still a little upset, that much was clear, but there was no more terror in the air. He re-adjusted his stance and cleared his throat, "I'm.... I'm sorry. I thought... well.... I thought she was hurt..." He looked at the mare as he spoke, hoping he had not scared her off, but though his eyes stayed on her, his head bent down so he could nuzzle the pup reassuringly, where it sat, a little dumbfounded and confused.

Ears swiveling towards whatever was thundering towards her Aelah, took a few steps back from the pup and instantly flattened her ears back. The horse almost seemed like he was about to run her over! Thankfully, he stopped by the pup, anger vanishing. She listened to his words, bobbing her head up and down once.

" It's alright, I am usually used to smaller animals near my legs, but I never saw her coming. "
Aelah was trying to sound apologetic, in the stables dogs, cats and any other critter used to pass through her legs and she'd never given them a second thought. It was actually quite a natural thing, but her nerves had been on edge since coming to this wild place. Otherwise, she'd never have scared the poor thing out of it's wits.

" Is tit okay? It seems really scared. Did I hurt it? "
The pup hadn't said anything except look scared, and it worried Aelah that she may have hurt it while trying to actually not hurt it.
