Whether you were invited or joined regularly, it would be in your best interest to see the FAQ and Rules first, especially if you are wondering about something. There is a lot of important information there and it will be very obvious if you decide not to read the information, as your missions will be very incorrect.
To begin roleplaying, you should make a profile. The template is in the Member Profile section and you can look at other profiles to see what to do. If you haven't already, be sure to read the FAQ and rules to make sure you don't do anything to upset anyone, and although you get two chances of rule breaking before you are banned, most infractions are easily avoided. If there's still something you're confused about, ask it in the 'questions' thread!
