Dan scratched his head absently with one hand as though it would free the thoughts from his mind. He looked at Lisa and smiled warmly. It seemed the two of the had become very popular because they share a noticeable affection toward each other. It didn't take long after arriving in the area that the chemistry between them reacted.
"Just lucky I guess. We both got into anime and things picked up from there. I don't know if you can really call it an interesting story but I am grateful for the connections that have brought us together." Dan said looking up from Lisa up to Amy. "How about you? I am not used to talking about myself so do you have any stories to share?"

"Awwwwww that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sweet!" Amy cooed. If she had been animated then her eyes would have turned into hearts. "You two were meant for each other." She said, scooting to the side as the line moved up a bit. "That is so cool, I really hope you two get married or something like that. Not only that, but you're like the nicest couple I've ever met." Amy said with a bubbly giggle and a faint trace of blush. "Oh," Her blush deepened, "I don't really have any stories to share. I'm a little strange, but that is what it takes to get in here, right? Um, I'm pretty boring, this is about the most exciting thing I ever do." She lifted a hand up to her lips and giggled a little more, a cute giggle, almost like the sound of a bell.
"I have a story." said the quiet boy as he too scooted down a little to fill the gap created when the line moved. "And it has to do with a sweet girl who I happen to have feelings for. I remember, several years ago, I walked into my third grade class. I was determined I would hate my teacher, I would hate the new school. I had lost my father in a fire, and we were moving back to live with mum's parents. I walked into that class, and almost immediately my eyes landed on a quiet girl in the corner. She was talking to the teacher who seemed to hover over her desk. Being the little punk I was I sat behind her, and almost immediately I began to pick on her. I don't know how, but eventually she became my best friend. She was always kind, always polite, and sweet. Along the way I fell in love, every day she broke my heart." He said solemnly. "But I still love her, despite the fact that she has never recognized the same feelings for me." He said softly, still not looking at the three people.
Amy's lip trembled slightly. She thought she understood what he was saying. She stared at him with a new kind of gaze in her eyes.

Dan suddenly felt like he was intruding on something. Was the conversation they were having allowing some kind of heartfelt confession from Amy's friend or was it for some other girl that was not here. He never mentioned her name in the story.
"Dan straightened and reached out putting his right hand on the shoulder of the young man suddenly as though to spin him around. "If you have feeling you can't hide them away! I know it can be easy to feel insecure or believe yourself not worthy but what happens if the girl you like dates someone else? It's time you tapped into your manhood looked her in the eyes and take that major leap to know for sure if you two have something you can work with." Dan was this kind of person who let his shyness get the best of him but he knew with Lisa whom he talked to for so long online that even if she did not return his feelings that they would still be friends. Lucky for him it paid off.

James jumped to his feet, ready to hit Dan, but with a frightened shout from Amy he stopped and reality took over. There were eyes on them now, cosplayers, security guards, some of which were coming their way. James dropped his hand and stepped back. He looked down at Amy who was holding on tightly to his arm and looking up at him with sheer alarm in her eyes. He looked up at Dan who held Lisa close to him, and the look of alarm was evident on her face as well.
Turning back to Amy, James wrapped his arms around her and held her close. "I'm sorry." He whispered. "I'm sorry for embarrassing you, and for picking on you when we were younger. It's all true though. I've felt this way about you for a long time." He hugged her tighter, at the same time he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder.
A security guard looked sternly at the group, "Is there a problem here?" He asked the four people.
James stood up and turned to face the man. "No, there isn't." He told him simply. "More a misunderstanding. We're fine, thanks." The boy said as charmingly as he could. Suddenly he had Amy's arms wrapped tightly around his chest, and she pulled him close. His heart skipped a beat. Did this actually mean that she had accepted what he said and now she was returning it? There was new hope in James's heart.

Dan was surprised the other guy was about to slug him for putting his hand on his shoulder. In that moment if he would have swung Dan would have had no choice but to take the hit straight on because he wouldn't want Lisa to get caught up in a possible altercation. Dan was ready to put himself in the way before man stopped and diffused the situation.
Dan thought about it for a moment and realized he might have gotten carried away with this guy sounding like Dan before he went into the Army. It wasn't uncommon to be slightly aggressive at times even know Dan thought to himself.
"Yeah sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not from around these parts so I didn't mean to cause you any trouble. No hard feelings?" Dan asked the man as the security guard must have realized nothing bad was going on.

"It's okay man. I am just glad you didn't follow through with that punch. It looks like you might have a mean jab." Dan said giving him a wink and turned his attention to Lisa
Dan smiled and nodded as he pulled Lisa's hands to his lips and gently returned the gesture as his lips touched her knuckles.
"The best way to show the light in the hearts of others is make sure your light is bright enough to inspire I guess." Dan said kissing each knuckle one by one. "Of course being this in love is sure to make everyone around feel either really good or really nauseous depending who the spectator is."

Pets leave paw prints ......Lisa smiled and watched as Dan expressed his love for her. Each kiss left a warm tickling sensation upon her knuckles. "I think for many people we would be nauseating." Lisa joked. Once he was done she wrapped her arms around him and rested her head just beneath his chin. Gently she rubbed his back as his body supported her's and kept her standing. "It is the little things that count." She sighed with her eyes closed. ...... on our hearts.
