Heh. I see the poll's at fifty-fifty razz

I used to be a Twilight fan. Kind of. I mean, I thought it was decent, but I didn't read the series more than once and I didn't wear the T-shirts every other day - I just didn't obsess over it. Couldn't really get into it. And of course, there were things that were so much better out there. So my opinion was kind of neutral.

And then I crawled out from under my little rock. I have to say that Twilight was ruined for me by a combination of rabid fangirls and fanmoms and the discovery of much better literature, plus a better understanding of plot and character development, which Meyers attempts to make a totally inadequate substitute for in the form of fluff and constant romance. Plus, the first movie I just thought of as kind of 'meh'. When Edward started sparkling I was just like, 'Um... no.'

So... I voted no :/ I mean, I don't go around cussing out the fangirls or whatever, but I'm certainly not one of them. I just didn't think it was very good... at all.

            TEXTTEXTEXTTEXTTEXT.

            I don't like it, and I never will.
            Robert Pattison to me is a bad choice for Edward, sorry to fan girls if there are any.
            The girl that plays Bella looks like my science teacher.. o-o;
            No hate on Taylor. But I don't like him much either.

            Because I read the book first, the movie was nothing compared to it.

Twilight does cripple a lot of vampire mythology. Mayer, in an interview, did admit that she wrote the series without any fundamental knowledge of what a vampire was. I suppose that's somewhat obvious given the contradiction of her newest Midnight Sun manuscript, where she writes:

"The heaters blew her scent in our direction. I was used to the way that scent made me feel--the dry ache in my throat, the hollow yearn in my stomach, the automatic tightening of my muscles, the excess flow of venom in my mouth..."

Now, don't get me wrong--I have no problem with the idea that a vampire could have venom flowing through the contours of their mouth. However, how does a vampire go about making out with a teenage girl, meanwhile; having a pooling of excess venom flowing through his mouth?

Given evidence in book four, Bella is not immune to vampire venom. Which leads me to wonder exactly how deadly a french kiss with a vampire really is.
