wow ummm, ya'll actually have to rent ya'lls horns from the school, our directors say if you can't afford one, there is a horn over there waiting to be played. no rental fees involved!! I think i have gone threw every single Tenor we have lol, but we have tons of altos just laying around, most of them need repairing but we also have 2 barii sax's. plus jazz band does incorperate alto , tenor, barii and soprano saxophones
becuase for ours, i switch off between alto tenor n barii!! lol but tenor is fun for me!! I havn't picked up a barii sax in months but yeah try one of those out, tenor n barii are very fun to play, espcially the low register!!

ok, i think i may go with tenor or bari. i haven't asked yet, but i planned on asking next after-school practice for our Chritsmas Concert. im also not the only one who wants to switch, so ill have to pass on some of you guy's advice to my friend who wants to play sax too. but would it affect the odds since she is a flute player?

Yeah, you can probnably rent/borrow one from your school. People at my school do all the time.
I don't think so. I've heard going from flute to sax is easy, but you'll have an advantage too because you're used to the reed mouthpiece.
Either way, you'll both be on a new instrument, so you'll probablybe pretty evenly matched for the spot.
