The name the doors came from the saying The Doors of perception...though Jim was most likely drunk or high from acid at the time when he came into realization about the Doors of perception

I thought it was interesting how they got the name about "The Doors of Perception" type deal. Of course he was probably drunk or high, but it ended up being a good band name. He is also a poet, so he also thinks of things with an emotional meaning like that.
