Sniffing around her immediate Den, Ashy raised her nose to the wind. As it weaved through the sticks of bamboo, it brought a strange scent with it. A new scent. A new Helix. One that would undoubtedly bother her. Although he smelled older than the adolescent, Ashy doubted he'd have sense enough to stay away. Few did. Feeling slightly hungry, Ashy left the area and headed over to a small stream, where she would, warily, catch fish. Or so she hoped. She'd never been the best for hunting those slippery critters.
Her big, clumsy paws floundered in the water at the softest glint of fish. She could almost hear them laughing at her. The young helix felt herself becoming flustered and struck out savagely at the next pike that passed by. Her claws sunk deep into it's glittering, scaly flesh, and Ashy laughed darkly, wrapping her maw around its head, and biting it clean off. She loved it when she got her way.

Nails dug into the earth angrily as the dark red form skulked through the grass. He kept his head low, his ears sharply back. If it weren't for the angry tail whipping back and forth, one might mistake Martin for an omega. And why, exactly, was the gamma angry? Another failed hunting attempt. With his sense of smell impaired, he hadn't detected his prey until he was right on top of them. By then, it had ran off, far ahead for where he could catch it. So, understandably, he was hungry.
His ears flicked up, picking up the sounds of a soft creek. At least he could get a drink of water... Sighing, Martin picked his head up and headed in the direction of water. However, every muscle in his body froze, upon seeing the other helix. Younger, and female. Ugh..

As the ruby liquid filled her mouth, Ashy felt herself becoming all-the-more hungry. The bloodlust had put her into a trance, and soon she had consumed the fish whole, with minimal chewing. With her bloodlust, her senses were sharpened and Ashy's ears pricked forward. Another one was approaching, but he stopped suddenly. While still listening closely, she gazed back into the water. She was NOT giving up her hunting spot. No way, no how. If he didn't want her there, then he could leave.
Whist she was standing still in thought, she caught the gentle pressing of muscles on her paw. Another fish! With lightning reflexes, her other paw zipped to sink its claws deep into the scales. But, they lost their grip and, wounded and flip-flopping in agony, the fish swam in a disorderly fashion away.

He wanted to walk away, he knew he ought to walk away. Before something bad happened. However, he wasn't able to as his rose eyes remained trained on the other crimson helix. Rooted to the spot as he tried (and failed) to catch a simple fish. Martin couldn't stop the snicker from rolling from his chest, a dark sound rolling from his throat.
"Can't catch a simple fish, girlie? Why not run home to your parents, I'm sure they'd gladly hunt for you." He remarked off-handedly, studying his paw for a moment, before glancing back at the hunting female.

Ashy could feel the hairs along her back prickling as the helix behind her just watched. She hated being watched. It reminded her of....she forced herself not to think about it, as more fish darted by past her ocean-blue eyes. Despite the darkness in his laughter, a growl sounded in the adolescent's chest immediately.
She wanted to turn on a paw and scream What parents!? The dead one, or the lost one!? What home!? but knew that he didn't deserve to know that much about her. Her tail flicked irritably as she stood from her hunting spot and stared at him hard; unafraid. "Insolent fools should keep their maws shut if they're going to do nothing but sit there like a terrified pup and watch," her teeth gleamed from her pulled back lips, the blood from the previous fish still faintly present around her muzzle and fangs.

Martin's ears shot up, hearing the faint growl resonate from the young female. Oh, had he hit a sore spot? Whoops. Amusement crossed his rose eyes, watching the obvious show of her irritation. The end of his tail twitched in amusement, as a slow, sinister smile crept over his face. Oh, yes... This would provide entertainment.
"Now, now." He paused, that inky dark smile still on his face as his head fell to the side slightly. "Whoever said I would sit by and watch, making remarks from the sidelines?" Martin's nails dug into the earth beneath them slightly, excited by the prospect of a fight. Especially with such a foolish young one. "You know," He took a step forward, trying to egg her on charge him first. Though, it took everything he had from not rushing the mouthy girl. "blood red is definitely your color." The malice in his smile finally reached his eyes, as his tail flicked behind him. "Perhaps you ought to wear more. Shall we see?"

She hated that smug smile on his face. He wasn't so tough. She'd practically been to hell and back, and she wanted to make this insolent gamma visit there too. And never come back. He seemed to be enjoying her fury from his comment. Something urged her not to be irritated, but it was too late. Once rage stuck its teeth in her, there was no going back.
"Well, that's all you've been doing for the last few minutes." She retorted smugly. Setting her paws far apart from each-other and splaying them, Ashy gazed on him with determination, watching for the slightest movement. She watched as his nails gouged the Earth, unaware that her own were clawing into it as well. Her paws tingled with the excitement of a fight, or even a stand-off. "Is that so? Her voice changed to a light, sarcastic, yet eerie all the same, one instead of that of a flustered female. His step forward caused her tail to flick to balance her, and she took one of her own, sideways, as if to circle him. "Well, I think hearts look fabulous all over you. Shall we tear yours out, and add it to the mix?" Surprisingly, the young helix felt herself smirking widely. Sure, confident...hot-headed and headstrong. "If you think it looks so wonderful on me....care to add some more?" Ashy's smirk grew and a glittering appeared in her eyes.
(I'm a little confused as to the fighting rules. Does Alpha Helix have a set battle system, or do we just [realistically] play it out? And can helixes die in battle without the owners' consent? Because it looks like Ashy just signed her death sentence xP)
