Szad blinked and looked up at the kind mare. When winter came? What did she mean?
"I-is there s-something one must do...? B-before the s-snow?"
He knew the cold, it did not bother him. He knew its terrible winds and ghastly touch. He knew of its influence on all of nature... And for some reason, deep inside, he felt as if her knew snow...

Faerin thought for a moment before answering. "That all depends on how adept one is at dealing with what winter throws at you. Often times horses will travel to areas where less snow falls so they don't have to dig as much to reach the grass underneath." She told the stallion. "Finding good shelter is also important for those who cannot adapt to the cold well. The snow can be harsh on those with thin fur."

He pondered over her words, thinking carefully of what he would do. He was quite warm most of the time. His fur thick, his muscle thick. Cold would have to try hard to penetrate it. But shelter...he did not really posses a sheltered part of the lands all his own, he just traveled from tree to tree, from cave to cave. It suited him fine. But maybe he did need more stable accommodations once the snow came.
"Where d-do you us-usually go...miss?" He asked politely.
He did not hesitate. He had asked openly. he didn't even realize. not even notice, that he was becoming himself infront of her. Not shy and quite, but himself. He didn't even feel it. It was too natural.

"Well..." She started to say. "Those trees over there make a good shelter from the elements. They get thicker as you go deeper into the forest which is good for those especially windy nights." Glancing at the trees she was talking about her tail swished in thought.
"There is also a cave behind the forest, or so I have heard." She continued. Looking for that cave was something she had meant to do but didn't see a need to as of yet.

Szad followed the silver mare's gaze. Deep into the forest, he knew the area well. It was his 'hide away'. He did not know if some other mustang had it as his, but frankly, he did not care. It was his to roam and enjoy. He had never seen anyone inside, hiding between the trees.
He nodded. he knew just how thick their trunks and canopies became. it was quite a sight,. Magical. He loved it. He loved his 'hide away'. "I k-know of the c-cave. its...cozy." he smiled brightly at her.
He was opening.

"Oh so you have seen the cave. Well that will make an excellent shelter come the winter." She replied.
Good that would mean she wouldn't have to explain how to find something she didn't know completely about. Not that she minded explaining things to Szad. He seemed to appreciate every little tidbit of information she could give him, even if some of her answers were quite short.

Szad beamed, "Really?" He smiled fully. His face lit up. he had changed completely now. He was no longer a shy, quiet, stuttering mess, he was Szad. Himself. And only that.
He was excited, now he was ready for the snows. He was happy., He wanted it to come soon. SO he could play and explore. Find out what snow was..."miss, w-will it snow t-tomorrow?" He looked up at the sky willingly, and stood up finally. "I want it to..."

"Yes, really. It will be the perfect spot to spend those cold winter nights." She told his softly. He certainly was opening up to her now, he seemed a bit more relaxed in her presence.
"It could I suppose." She told him. "Although it may not be cold enough to snow tomorrow. We will just have to wait and see." Indeed the chill in the air did indicate something was coming this way. But it was a bit early in the season for snow.

Szad smiled gently. His face soothed and gentle. He once again began to think of the snow. This mare was quite kind to teach him so much, let him open. She was more than just a nice stranger...
"I-i am gl-glad I...made a new friend t-today." He laughed quietly. A friend. It was such a beautiful word.

Faerin couldn't help but smile at the gentle stallion. He warmed her heart. It was so nice to have met such a kind creature out here. "I'm glad I made a new friend today as well." She told him with a smile.
She was thankful that she had gone for a walk today and run into Szad. It wasn't often that one could run into a stallion with such a quiet demeanor. It was refreshing.

Szad smiled and looked at the sky. Time had passed quickly; or so the sun was telling him. It was time for him to depart, back home. Wherever home would be for the night. He returned the mare's smile.
'Friends." he said without hesitation. "I hope we me-meet once more F-Faerin!" He beamed. Hims smile innocent and pure.
He turned around, facing the thicker parts of the forest. "Bye bye!"
And he skipped off. Still smiling. What a great walk. What a great memory to be made, even if most of his were lost. Now he had a new one. A new memory, a new smile, a new friend. maybe he was just like a small foal trapped in an adult body. But he was Szad.
Just Szad.
