so i seem to want a BJD here pretty bad,
i've become unhealthily obsessed within the past month,
& i finally found one that i want.
Ringdoll's En model.

now, i want to know...
-what the ******** a face up?
-what's the difference between face up & face down?
-how do the eyelashes work (like, are there eyelids too or are they always just staring?)

i know these are completely obvious questions, but i'm pretty brand new to this.
i'd like to know all of the information before i get one.

Answerrrssss

- A face up is the painting on their face, It's almost like make-up...only if your doll doesn't have one....they're just once solid color. (that mans no eyelashes, lip color...everything will not be there. If you look at a blank BJD head, that's what it's like.)

-A face...down....I'm pretty sure doesn't exist. /giggle

-In every BJD, they stare. Their eyes won't blink or anything. Remember that a Ball Jointed Doll is made of resin, a really, really hard plastic (like a rock) So their eye sockets don't move. Eyelashes are glued onto the top of a dolls eyelids, and generally the bottom lashes are painted in (with that face-up ;D )

So no blinking.

-Face-up= painting on face
-Eye Sockets= no blinking/moving

If you've ever got another question, feel free to ask me, or send me a PM. Whatever floats your boat. I'm sure there are people who could answer your questions better- but that's what know from my BJD. ;D Good luck! heart

EDIT: I went and looked at En, she's very cute!

Without a face-up, this is what she would look like (her face) http://ringdoll.com/product/RingParts/En-head.html

That's her head. xD You'll probably notice that nice line going through her head and how there aren't any eyeballs. Eyes can be removed- and that's by taking off the back of her head- It will clip/click back in place by a magnet. Okay. Feel free to ask anything else if you need it, like I said above!

the site that i was on was talking about face-downs D:
that explains alot of things, i thought a face-up was when the fact was put together entirely.
i've seen some dolls where it looked like the lids were moveable, so i wasn't entirely sure if they were moveable or not.
i'll have to get a sleepmask for my doll :3

i'm excited,
the En model was the most realistic face, as opposed to all the anime-ish ones i was looking at.
most dolls i see are all japanese (their characters are) & i'm trying to have a more american one.
the dolls i've seen in this gallery are good, though, especially the first few.

thanks for answering my questions, maybe i can become an expert in BJD soon :'D
