@Floyd: The Ruger SR-556 is a Mini-14 ASSAULT RIFLE. It's got an auto sere in it. Not a civilian gun.

Not quite...

The SR-556 is a modified AR-15 with a piston actuated bolt. It is semi-automatic, but takes the full range of AR-15 parts, upper and lower (as well as all AR magazines including the 100 round Beta C-MAG). http://www.impactguns.com/store/BETA-CCM000-4.html

Granted it wants very little in the way of options, but I can add them as I wish. It cost me dearly, but it was the best choice on the market that week.

http://www.ruger-firearms.com/products/sr556/index.html for all the details.

Point is, Ruger as a company isn't doing what Bill wanted to do when he was alive. Stirring up negative publicity is only going to hurt an otherwise healthy gun maker. And we don't need companies like Ruger in trouble now.
Oh, I see it, I was thinking AC-556.

That's like saying that no honest man needs to go over 50 mph, and limiting all motor vehicles to that ******** hell. User Image
cars do have limiters on them... not @ 50 mph mind you, but somewhere around the 175 mph mark i think... but still...

Another thing;

How about the 'Springfield Armory' toting guns supposedly made in America, when the parts of various guns come from Croatia, Brazil and Taiwan.

: /
there are alot of different ways to skirt development laws... i.e., parts can be made in china or wherever, and ASSEMBLED (a more literal term of "made") here... or vice-verse... or the entire thing can be made in a seperate country, then inspected and licensed in America... hell, even if they put the tag on that says "Made in America" in America, they can technically say it's made in America, and then have a amendment in the fine print explaining it...
the clothing market does this ALOT of the time... most "Made in America" clothes are really made in India or Malaysia...
Mossbergs, with the "MADE IN THE USA" sticker on the buttstock? Mexico.

Uh, no, Mossberg's main facility is in Connecticut, and the Maverick subsidiary's main facility is in Texas.

I KNOW they're from Mexico, in part or in whole, but I forget which part and how I figured it out. Maybe the barrels are manufactured there?

Until you can prove otherwise, O.F. MOSSBERG & SONS sez Connecticut and Texas.

From what I can find, all Mossberg replacement barrels (maybe stock barrels, but the FTC says that's not allowed) are made in Mexico, and I hear various un-denied rumors that the Mavericks are made in Mexico and assembled in Texas.

Rumors are just that.
Rumors.
And where did you find that information?

Google. I'm pretty sure the barrels actually SAY 'made in Mexico', and that's where I saw it. The rumors... it's widespread that all Mossbergs are all made in Mexico. That one's been defended, but the rumor that Mavericks are made in Mexico has yet to be denied. That makes me think it's true.
