Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Meyer say her failpires would die if they "sparkled" in front of people?
Edward sparkled in front of Bella.
Another Mary Sue quality, and also another account of Meyer breaking her own rules.

Maybe if it was a group of people who hated homosexuals rofl Even still if there was some "magical" way that they caused panic, Bella shouldn't be immune to it.

Well in the second book I'm pretty sure Edward's plan was to walk out into the sun, sparkle, freak people out with the sparkles and have the Volturi kill him. I'd double check but a Twitard stole my copy.

Yeah, well basically, humans aren't supposed to know that vampires exist. And the sparkly skin would reveal their identity. And if their identity is revealed to humans, and the Volturi finds out, then the vampire is to be executed. Mainly because their existence must be a secret. Thus, in New Moon, Edward was to walk in front of a crowd of people so that the Volturi could kill them (because he thought Bella was dead, and he mentioned before that he would kill himself if Bella died. Saying something along the lines of there being no point in living without her). Of course right before he committed the act, Bella, comes to the rescue, and the Volturi witnesses the whole happening. Which gets him in trouble because Bella already knows that he is a vampire.
