Nero kept silent as the prince spoke. He held back poisoned words as the prince had snapped at him. Couldn't Lord Gen just keep to his own business?! Why does he have to get involved like this? Oh well, it seems the quicker he will be eliminated then... "Yes, Your Majesty... It appears you are correct... I have seen suspicious behavior inside the palace. It is... Truly disappointing." He gave his tone a slight bit of concern. "Would it not be suspicious for us, as well, to be out at this time?" Nero thought. Some may perhaps think this is quite suspicious. Rumors fly through towns quickly. he wasn't so much worried those inside the palace would suspect either of the two, they knew the prince would have no such tendencies, but the villagers and townspeople... They were different. Their minds seemed fragile, ready to break and snap at the slightest. Nero mostly didn't want the prince to find any useful information. It may lead to truth, after all. "What of your coronation? Will it not be postponed if we are found out like this?" He asked. He just wanted excuses to try and changed the prince's determined mind. Even if it didn't work, he hoped it would do at least some damage to hid determination.

Gen was quickly getting annoyed with his guard and shot him a fearsome glare. "The Coronation may be damned for all I care. I will have no festivities occurring until my father's death is brought justice," he countered sharply. "I would think you of all people, Nero, would want for those people to pay. After all you weren't able to protect him then," the Prince returned with an equally biting statement. Two could play at the game of remarks and Gen wasn't about to be told what to do by his Knight.
Gen looked away, pulling back on his horse's reigns to bring it to a trot. He then looked back to the Knight. "And from now on you are to report any and all suspicious occurrences within the castle and court directly to me, do you understand?"

Nero bit his tongue, being sure to not argue back to the prince. Though Gen's final words struck a sensitive chord. He rode ahead of him quickly, stopping in front of Prince Gen's horse. "Your Majesty Gen," he said bitterly, "I do want them to pay, Your Majesty. But if the cost is your nobility, crown, or life, then why not just kill yourself now because then the Cult has already won! If I weren't at the hands of such an irresponsible prince, I would be on the mission of finding the Cult in the first place! I cannot protect you and hunt down that wretched Cult at the same time! Why is it you think I took this job instead of helping with the investigation?!" He directly yelled at the prince before him, quickly riding to his side to hold his collar tightly. "Deport me if you wish. This carelessness is unacceptable. Yet, I did not stop you. I only warned you. I am here still, not turning back to tell the court, not to tell the Priests or Priestesses, nothing. Order me as you wish, I am at your command, not the court's." Even if the prince would order him to be silenced, he would still continue. Nero released Gen, backing his horse up, ready for any blow, whether verbal or physical. He knew he could be thrown into the cells for what he did, but he chanced it anyway.
Nero surprised himself, however, finding how much energy he had put into his speech. He wondered if he actually did care for the prince's safety. Nothing personal, just the fact he had a duty to protect him, as well as to rid of him when he had the chance.
