"Yes, and they all do. They all underestimate all of us." Frowning to herself, the lightly-built green turned her head up to regard a bronze soaring overhead. "It would be hilarious if it were less frustrating," she commented, dismissing the large male as inconsequential and lowering her gaze again. "If only positions were awarded on actual merit, we'd be running the place by the time we're wingriders," she commented with a shake of her head. "Let the golds breed, while we three greens lead. I find it preposterous that leadership of the Wyer is handed out based on sexual prowess." It would be really very difficult to change the system though. Humm, well she did like a challenge; this might actually be one worthy of her mind.

"I think she might," Y'kar agreed with a smirk, "so long as she won everything, or could convince herself she was only letting her sisters win at some things." A rather stupid attitude, but it was true that Roseth had a lot going for her already; she seemed to be above average in just about everything save social skills. "You know," the skinny youth went on thoughtfully, "we could come up with maneuvers of our own, just for the three of us to do. Showing initiative, excellent, and if we could work out how to slide fancy group movements into an normal formation..." Y'kar smirked and lounged back in the water a bit further. "That would show them," he purred in the manner of a feline with its prey cornered, "how shocked and furious a wingleader would be to have us not only disobeying orders, but in doing so actually improving the performance of a drill." Yes, he liked that idea; that was one they'd definitely have to work on.

Nellath pointedly ignores the large dragon above them. No, don't even acknowledge the brute, he wasn't worth it. I can't think of a single gold who has actually proven her worth. True though, their mother did happen to be a gold but, well.. perhaps the only good she really did was clutching them. If we led, this Weyr would be so much better and real work would be done! Even if there was no Thread falling currently.

A'li gives a nod to that. "Well, that probably couldn't be too hard? And if it is, there would always be the fact that she could be reminded just how much better she is than the rest of this Weyr when it comes to it." He leans on a smooth rock to listen in on the plans. Okay, Nellath was right.. Y'kar was pretty darn smart to come up with all of this. "Maneuvers that only the six of us know, to put us on the map? I like that. I like it a lot actually.. We need to find Jasrai and Roseth and bring them in this. Maybe before our dragons are old enough to fly, practice on the ground, with formations and things?" This had to work, it was too perfect not to. A light, satisfied feeling from Nellath about it also boosts confidence.

"Exactly," Kannaroth's eyes flared up orange for a moment, "they just get given everything, they don't know how valuable power really is, because they have never been without it. Their ignorance and complacency will be their undoing." Whatever tiny advantages they could snatch, they would snatch. They'd have to be on watch all day every day, but if it meant gaining power she was willing to put in the effort, and knew her sisters would be too.

"Yes," Y'kar nodded, "we need to start brainstorming as soon as possible. I think if we begin by studying all the formations and their weaknesses, we can work out what kinds of things we could do in each different one... It won't be too easy; they're time tested, and over all very strong, but I'm certain we can find cracks and shore them up. When we enter our wing... and let's hope we get assigned to the same one, we should look for weaknesses in each dragon too. If we can make recommendations to the wingleader for altering riders' positions in formations, or just plain cover for people when they mess up, we'll come out looking excellent. They'll hate us for it no doubt, but they won't be able to deny we're good." Excellent. He was really going to enjoy bringing the rest of the world down a peg or two.

All because they are the ones who lay the eggs. Wonder what would happen if a gold came who never clutched, would that damage their system? It was, actually.. a nice thought to dwell on. A gold unable to clutch just like them.. But not happening any time soon to discover.

"There's nothing that can't be improved on." Perhaps one of the very few lessons his mother managed to give him when she tried to have him learn baking. Even the oldest, most 'perfected' recipes could be made better with a change in ingredients. He nods lightly as he listens to the plans. It sounded so.. easy, so doable really. "When would they not hate us? And with our work in the wings.. then to anyone else, it would just look like they hate us because we're so good and only mere greenriders." Actually, that sounded a bit fun too. They could possibly make more ties with other greens and their riders for it too. Not nearly as tight a bond as their three have no, but ties to use?

"Now that," Kannaroth smirked, "would be funny. I wonder if they'd make her roll in the grass all day, trying to stain her, and if they'd force her to chew firestone hoping she'd flame, and they could just pretend that she was a big fat green." Would they accept such an outcast as a friend... A gold unable to breed was still a gold. It would be good to have that kind of mental power on their side. For all her brilliance, Kannaroth knew she could not resist obeying even the stupidest gold alive. It was pathetic, and briefly she hated how she had been made. Why should she have to listen? Why did her whole nature scream at her to obey? It was stupid, unfair, an awful set up over all. How had such a situation come to be?

"Exactly," Y'kar gave a slow smile, his pale brown eyes going chilly and calculating as he relaxed his guard further. "Imagine how their reputations could suffer with the Weyrs who like to think themselves more modern, more open-minded... We might get invited to transfer elsewhere, promised good positions if we'll lend our talents to them instead of this place. I know our girls would love to triumph here, but if the chance case up to snub this place and to get the respect they deserve came up... What do you think Kanna?"

The slim green frowned thoughtfully. "An interesting idea," she said, addressing both Y'kar and her sister. "I would like to show all of these fools... but one way of doing that could be leaving and succeeding elsewhere. It is worth considering, but we must bear in mind that they might think we were just running away from because we were incapable of winning power here... Yes, we would have to think hard about it, together." She didn't think she would want to leave unless her clutchmates were coming too; life without them was unthinkable.

Nellath nods her head once, rumbling out what can only be called a laugh outwardly, while pleased amusement filters to both Kannaroth and Hers. They would be shamed for certain. And I wonder how the rule would shift then. Gold being gold holds power, but gold not clutching? The thought of a gold rolling in the grass to tint green however, so, so amusing.

"Transfer?" Hum, leave Telgar for somewhere where they might get more influence and the accepting Weyr having no idea what they were getting into? "We'll have to get good enough to be recognized for it then, and outrule whatever bad words these people here would have to say in stories to the other Weyrs.." Did they even talk much at all though? There was talk that High Reaches and Telgar were on some speaking terms, but not friendly. Would there be words exchanged about Theirs? He pauses his thoughts to turn towards the other green, getting a listen to her thoughts from Nellath.

Leaving could be seen as taking an easy way out sister. These higher dragons in our Weyr may just lend rumors and ill thoughts of us and try to convince others that we just want to escape from here. We aren't escaping, we are rising. Her eyes swirl a faint tint of orange for just a moment as she thinks. We must bring Roseth and Hers into this. The idea though, is surely tempting.

"Agreed," Kannaroth ducked under the water to warm herself, "this is not a decision we can make lightly... Or soon. We will have time enough to mull over the possible outcomes of such a decision, if the chance to make it ever arose." That was by no means guaranteed. Certainly High Reaches was on the look out for transfer riders, but would they wish to take riders away from Telgar? She needed to know more about the relationship between the two Weyrs before she could even begin to guess at that.

"We will be good enough," Y'kar said firmly, "but whether or not anyone from another Weyr would notice us would be another matter... We may have to make the opportunity for ourselves if we do decide a transfer is what we want. If we brush up all those fancy moves, we could just take a little trip to whichever Weyr we decide we like the look of and show our moves. They'd be fools not to want us once we showed them what we could do." All very nice, but all very hypothetical, and he still wasn't sure he even liked the idea of leaving Telgar. He might be one to run away from a hard situation if an easier one presented itself, but Kannaroth... she wanted to prove herself to these people. While leaving and succeeding elsewhere might give her that, it wouldn't provide the same satisfaction as managing to earn high positions here would.

Nellath gives a single nod of her head, swishing her tail through the warm water. We will always have time to plan things. They overlook our worth enough to leave us with so much time in our claws. One good thing then.

A'li nods slightly, leaning back a bit to take it all in. "If the chance comes, will we take it? No, never mind it's too soon to worry about that. We have to get good enough first right? And all three of us meet to talk it over. We have the weyrling barracks to ourselves before the next clutch, why don't we put that to use?"

"Exactly," Kannaroth nodded. "Being underestimated is annoying, but useful in the end." She would need a lot of planning time, because she would need to work out how to get Roseth to listen to her. It wasn't that her sister thought she was stupid, it was just that she thought she was better; an unfortunate erroneous belief, quite the stumbling block in the path of her schemes of the three of them. While Nellath might be rather domineering, at least the larger green knew that her brains were top quality.

"Right, we won't have that luxury forever so we might as well make the most of it," Y'kar said, nodding his agreement. "Perhaps we should start heading back soon," he went on as he felt the beginnings of a gurgle from his lifemate's stomach. "Nearly time for Kanna's next meal." The small green seldom noticed she was hungry for herself until she got to the point of being really ravenous. As she was none too pleasant when she was ravenous, Y'kar was getting good at noticing for her.

Nellath gives her wings a stretch in the water, watching her sister. It is more than merely annoying, it is insulting. But well, Kannaroth had to have a point there. Somewhere, buried in among all of the downsides to all of this there had to be a good point. Well then, just let the thinker deal with finding it.

"I'm going to hate having to share with the next Hatching.. but by then we should have a nice name made that keeps the new weyrlings away?" Mainly the boys. He would not be setting one foot near any of them, and would certainly have no qualms at all with Nellath snapping at any if they get too close. If not encouraging it. "We probably should go back soon, as much as I wouldn't like to be in their company again. Perhaps we could find Roseth and hers too. At least in time to mention we have things to discuss."

"Insulting, yes, but they will pay for all their insults eventually. I hope they keep insulting us so that my retribution may be all the more terrible." Kannaroth liked the idea of terrible retribution, but was more than clever enough to know that they wouldn't be able to bring down everyone who had ever spoken ill of them. The queens for one. She didn't see any way for them to take on queens.

"Yea, at least the place is big enough for us to have our own space I suppose," Y'kar said with a nod. "We should make sure we have a really prime spot, and let the new weyrlings work around us. Maybe we should claim the biggest beds, just to annoy any bronzes who would have liked them... Anyway, you're right," Y'kar got to his feet, shivering as the cold air hit his wet skin. "I'll go grab my clothes, then we can be off." He would have been happy to sit there soaking for a good while longer, but A'li was right, it was time they headed off. You couldn't always have exactly what you wanted, like a hot bathing pool in your own weyr. That would be nice. Y'kar stored it away in the little section of his mind that, were it a library, would be marked 'unrealistic ambitions'.
