Kabocha looked down the path that Lyell had pointed at and shrugged. "Looks good to me." Any of the paths looked good, really. It was hard to figure out where he'd been with everything looking so alike. He started off down that path, looking around a bit as if that would help him figure the way out.

Lyell felt quite similar to Kabocha in regards to orientation within the maze. He'd long since given up trying to keep any particular sense of direction, especially after most of it was lost in the first half hour within the maze. He followed after Kabocha, unconsciously looking around as he did so, just as Kabocha did. It wasn't helping any, but it was something to do...
"Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" It wasn't exactly quiet in the maze as others who were stuck and lost were calling out to one another to try and find the way out while those who'd finished laughed at those still inside. But maybe this boy had heard someone he knew? The pumpkin boy hoped so. At this rate, he might still be stuck in this thing when night fell.

Lyell frowned briefly, looking around them to see no one. He shook his head, sighing. "Nothing..." he murmured after a few moments, hands burrowing into the warmth of his coat's pockets. "I just thought I heard someone close by. Guess not..."

Kabocha frowned. The path they were on turned a corner and the pair was stuck at a dead end. "Drat." The pumpkin boy sighed and turned around. "Guess this was the wrong way..."

Lyell blinked, staring at the wall of stalks. A frown flickered over his lips, the boy casting a look at the corn as though by doing so they might part way and reveal some secret path. With a sigh he gave in, shaking his head. "I guess so..." he agreed, turning around as well. No point in sticking around here. It wouldn't get them any closer to the exit.

Kabocha headed back towards the last turn and paused. "Which way did we come from again?" The pumpkin boy was already turned about and confused. He'd probably walk in circles in the maze if left alone. But he wasn't alone! He just hoped that Lyell knew where they'd already been....

Lyell blinked, looking around. Where had they come from? In this place, everything looked the same. "... I don't know..." he admitted hesitantly, glancing to Kabocha. And so, in other words... they were lost. But at least not alone!
